Thanks Chris, As you mentioned about depression, I can attest that it does suck, having a touch of that myself from time to time. Love the channel and your manner.
I'm enjoying your workbench videos very much. You've clearly done your homework, unlike many on TH-cam. I would particularly like a Weber DCOE video. They've been around since 1959, which is nearly as long as me.
Hmm, I must have taken one or two of those apart in the early1960s when I trained as a mechanic though I don’t remember them especially. But the mechanisms for choke etc looked sort of familiar. It would have been good to have your video back then! Really enjoy your channel - and your collaborations with Oak Swamp. Thanks, Les
Hmm? 🤔 Has anyone besides me ever wonder why a metering orifice in a carburetor is called a 'jet'? Yet a rapid stream of liquid or gas forced out of a small opening is called diarrhea. Another great teaching video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this video, I'm in the process of restoring a few of these Zenith. Do you happen to have spares for them that you're willing to sell? Like a float bowl for instance?
Have a question. My austin big 7 ticks over no problem at all however if you accelerate it just dies. It seems to be flooding. Friend completely rebuilt zenith 30 vm-4 carb. Could this be caused by wrong washer on valve at top of float bowl. Hope this makes sence.
does it always just die completely? What makes you think it's flooding? When your friend re-built it, did he remove and clean the emulsion block? Seems more likely that it's starvation rather than flooding..
@@thebracketfactory it splutters and dies, but if you take foot of throttle it picks up and ticks over again. the carb was completely stripped down and put through sonic Bath twice. Reason we think it's overfueling is the plugs were absolutely soaked when we checked. Is I have to admit driving me mad lol
@@darronbeeson8227 hmm. Have you tried with/without choke to see if any difference? When you open the throttle you are progressing to the main jet and the main ventury, so if your theory is correct (to rich) then either the main is too big or the fuel level is too high. You can experiment with the fuel level by packing and lowering the float needle (btw... have you checked the float?).
@@thebracketfactory choke on or of once running makes no difference. Put new float in as old one had dent in it. Will have a bash at lowering fuel level. Not sure about size of jets.

Thanks Lance! Next vid I'll be back on the V12!!

I do have a couple of DCOEs so that may well be my next video on carbs!
great stuff mate ...well explained and clear ....no more black art with the zenith !! cheers !
looking forward to another engine start up!

Thanks Les - Swamp and Bracket re-union coming soon!
Nice explanation Sir and spotting the digit trinket may i extend belated congratulations from all at Tweed Towers to the Brackets
Thank you kindly my good man! I am a very lucky chap!
Thanks - don’t think I’ve seen a Zenith carb that didn’t have an accelerator pump. Those early ones are really neat.
no moving parts! I'm doing a DCOE twin 40 next and it's a LOT more complicated!
Great tutorial. Waiting to see what you do with the La France. Cheers from OZ.
Cheers Brent - back on the La France next week !!
Well explained having worked with them probably best explained ever 😀
Cheers Anthony!
Another excellent Carb video!
Thanks Tom!

Thanks for tuning in again!
I'm certain you'll get the V12 going but what to put it in? With the weight of it it'll have to be pretty big.
Nice clear explanation. Thanks.
I'm thinking 1930's Bentley, Rolls or Daimler chassis... but I think I'll get the V12 going 1st!

Hi Alan, glad you found the video useful. Afraid I don’t have any spares though. Ebay is probably the best source of parts 👍.
@thebracketfactory I'll keep an eye on ebay then. Thanks!
