As a subscriber do I get to ask a "free" question?
I have an old car, 1946, and it has I believe a Zenith Stromberg DBA36/DAA36
Of course it is not possible to find any parts for such an old thing, but
I did manage to find a new needle and seat for it (ebay I think)
Unfortunately I had to destroy the old one to remove it from the carb (Did not have the right tool)
And then I found that the replacement was a different size, a little bigger I think.
Will this make a big difference to the performance of this old old thing, as my thinking is that it is the float that controls the fuel level, the needle valve only regulates the flow in to the fuel bowl.
Am I very very wrong and now in trouble?

Hi there! You ask to your hearts content! Provided the new piece is of sufficient quality you should be fine! The only thing to watch out for is the installed height! Sometimes the shape of the “armature” for lack of a better word is higher or lower than the original and therefore can result in a higher or lower fuel level.
