  • Chris from The Bracket Factory and Bryan from Oak Swamp (@oakswamp) combine forces and tackle the little Crosley Engine. The Mission: Get it running .... and then build a car (or maybe even a bike) around it!!
We've both built a car or two so should be a blast!

My parents lived in Cincinnati during the mid-fifties when I was born. Our house was full of Crosley appliances. I still have the Crosley radio that dad purchased when I was born (1955). Oh, dad’s first car was ‘49 Crosley!

@@thebracketfactory There is a really good book about Crosley. The title is “Crosley: Two Brothers and a Business Empire That Transformed the Nation” and the authors are Rusty McClure, David Stern and Michael A. Banks.

Interesting little engine. I think it's the M Type Midget MGs and pre war Morris Minors had an engine with a bevel gear drive to an overhead camshaft too.

I've actually got a Crosley fridge in my shed. The workings are gutted out of it,
and it's now a storage cabinet for welding rods and other assorted [useful] paraphernalia.
[20 bucks, at the tip; bargain!!]

Crosley engines were used in SCCA H-mod, cars. also used in small hydroplanes (boat). always interesting stuff on your channel.

@@thebracketfactory Cool video -- parts are readily available in the States for these motors. The carb you have looks like an SU of some kind as the factory carbs were downdraft style and made by Tillotson (DY9) or Carter (W-O).

It's a very British looking engine. Could there be a connection with the British Crossley Motors from Stockport? The English company joined with Willys in 1919 to build their Overland model in an ex WW1 aircraft factory in Heaton Chapel. Crossley built substantial motor cars in the early 20th century before turning their attention to busses. Came to your channel through Bryan's and loving it!

You and Bryan work so differently it is really entertaining. You may have to hide his big hammer though!😁
Very interested in the Crosley engine, it came as a surprise they made anything this small in the States.
Thanks for the video, looking forward to the next one.
