You forgot Tiny Core Linux. Its one of the lightest distros out there, so lightweight in fact it runs almost entirely in RAM and not regular storage
Similar with TailsOS, except it can run straight from a 4GB USB
light doesn't necessarily mean performant
@@pinkcreeper100 no, but if it runs in ram itself, then I don't imagine it's doing too much in the background
@@pinkcreeper100If the computer has nothing to deal with in the background, it would be performant, that's why most lightweight OS are usually great for performance.
@@Extreme-PCIe-Cable TinyCore can run straight from a floppy, iirc
Correction: Microsoft always had the subscription service for ESUs since Windows 7. Not many needed it tho since most had already switched to 10. The issue now is that not near as many people has switch to windows 11 as people from 7-10.
I remeber when ESU ended. Sad day, but at least with Windows 10 and 11 have OBS studio!
Ah I see, really annoying they could of just kept supporting it, difference between Windows 11 and Windows 10 is not much at all
@@NotroDan Fun fact: if you go into the registery on Windows 11, it litreally identifies itself as Windows 10.

@@NotroDanamong us linux
@@NotroDan u should try it, u will get 10000 fps on amogus
Maybe try a Fedora Spin.
If you look at fedora again, don't forget to install RPM Fusion and all the proprietary codecs and firmwares from them too, that will make performance way better and actually make it usable on the daily.
Maybe try the Cinnamon or XFCE variant.
Linux Mint is also great for low end laptops.
I've used Manjaro and EndeavorOS, but I've never heard of CachyOS. Thanks for showing off this distro, I'll have to try it out sometime!
Also, having the F3 menu open will lower your frame rate, so you could use an FPS counter mod to see the performance without hindering it.
On Linux, using MangoHUD with Minecraft seems to show a more stable FPS meter without dropping performance at all
@@akatsukilevi there is even guides out there to show mangohud on prism launcher/multimc
@@akatsukilevi Good point, I always forget about using MangoHUD for checking fps in OpenGL games, since the toggle key I have set for it in GOverlay only works under Vulkan for some reason. It does also give frametime, temperature, and cpu/gpu utilization information which is always a bonus.
OHHHHH.
I'm a GNU/Linux user and I really appreciate that.
your videos are a perfect example of how to blend education with fun!
dude I LOVE your content
you earned a sub
keep it up🔥
The fact that MY laptop lagged when you where rendering for example is crazy

U could use a desktop gpu with laptop by connecting the pcie slot for the gpu to the wifi card slot with a pcie riser to mini pcie slot
I was working on doing a video on that, but it failed because there isn't enough clearance for the cable connecting to the Mini PCIe it just sticks out too much and wont screw down :/ That's why its been a while since I uploaded so I had to do this video instead
I managed to get the latest version of Minecraft Java edition to run on a Q9650 based system with 8 gigs of DDR3 and a GT1030 GDDR5 at 75 FPS by just setting it to run with the semi blocking renderer. The Threaded renderer TANKS performance!
This is all under Windows 10 as well by the way.
You should really make a fedora video, it's very user friendly in my opinion and has performance close to arch (at least for me and my nvidia card)
gnome is intensive tho
i think he shouldve used xfce with it to get more performence
>very user friendly
>uses vanilla gnome
You could configure mouse settings with Gnome Tweaks and Settings and it's a recommended for GNOME users, btw i am using Fedora Workstation 40 with 128GB of SSD, 4GB of RAM, Intel Celeron N4020 1.10Ghz GPU and Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU and I don't have any FPS drop. Staying on 240 FPS maximum with all disabled options
I use ubuntu but i think this is applicable for other distros if u go to settings assesblity u can disable animations and improve performance
i am using zorin os, i find it pretty good seeming as i didnt need to do any setup to get the games running. i am on a pretty good desktop, but i find it performs way better now.
You should try going with i7-4800MQ and do 50mV undervolting with intel-undervolt. I use it in Probook 640 G1
the king is back
it's time for the ultimate mod after Linux: removing that wireless card and using an external GPU with a cheap AliExpress adapter. Good series, keep it up!
Thanks for the texture pack
This video is incredibly based, oml. Props to you!
LETS GO NOTRODAN COOKED ANOTHER BANGER VIDEO
You should do more linux videos
Every time I hear things like this about windows it makes me laugh and be so happy that I don't have regrets since I switched to Linux 2 years back
2:00 No, ESU has been around since Windows 7, the reason it came up on headlines is because not many switched to 11 as much as from 7 to 10
Yeah makes more sense now, really silly to kill Windows 10 support imo
I think fedore doesnt have anything special to offer for a new linux user. In your case you want a beginner friendly distribution. Linux mint has been the best for that for a long time now. You have 3 versions with mint but you should mainly look at two. The cinnamon is their main version and its the best looking with the best features (uses about 400-600mb of ram idk exactly) and there is also the xfce version of mint which is missing some features and in my opinion looks too outdated. But it does use a lot less ram (200-400mb something like that). The reason mint is very good for noobs is because everything has a nice gui app. The app store in mint has flatpaks by default so you can use the gui app. Also its layout is similar to windows because its ment for new users.
Yep mint is awesome! I used it and still use it on my lower end computer with an i3 5th gen which runs better then windows 10 and has minimal bloat and does not end support soon. Also no key is needed. The only thing i did was compile a new kernel to add some drivers and modules which was easy to do with a great tutorial online
Try out the new snapshot with this build... I heard it got some serious optimizations
that is way better than the pc that I'm using rn
Ads in start menu = add blocker programs coming
=> overall system lag
Correction: You should have invested in Swills. It can optimize any laptop with any specs. Windows 10 is infact better for gaming than other Windows versions, although Windows 7 has less bloatware.
I bet that mic stand cost more then the laptop🤣
wathcing the video now!!
If your actually looking for performance use temple os
What are the mods your using? I have an i3 intel cpu
can you give us a list of the performance mods you used?
i think he used the Remarkably Optimized Modpack, just search it up on yt, its literally the same and i use it also
if you want the absolutely most optimized distro of linux make you own distro based off of debian or install very light window managers and desktops
Or if you are a real nerd make your own distro from scratch using lfs or buildroot and compiling all your functions
yo bro can u make a vid on how to record in good fps with good quality on obs whilke get over 60 fps in game
The Linux version u used looks like SteamOS for the steam deck
At this point bro is obsessed with the 20$ laptop😊
If you wanted the least bloated system, I would say that instead of using a de like XFCE, KDE, GNOME, LXQT. Instead use a standalone wm like OpenBox, AwesomeWM, Qtile, etc
Yea. There can be some compatibility issues with drivers. But they are just happening on some specific OLDER LAPTOPS.
Also, if you have a problem with drivers, you can ask to the community everytime.
Well lol can you help if you know Linux? I got a pretty good laptop but I wanna switch to Linux. The problem is I hear nivida graphics cards don't really like linux

Hey you should do a Minecraft on a £100 mini pc 🔥
Can you try running tiny 10 or 11?
Yesterday I tried out Linux mint, I thought since Linux uses less resources it should also use less battery but it turned out not to be true as it got it heating and draining battery, I don't like where windows is going with their spy features though, so I will stick with debloated windows 10 and trying out different Linux versions in my spare time.
On same laptop same settings on Ubuntu latest lts I got 70 fps average and on windows 11 tiny I got only 30
Use Openbox Desktop Environment instead of GNOME Ubuntu, it will make your FPS faster.
Good video! I use Arch btw.
😂🙏😭
Do you recommend linux for a let's say noob eith cmd and stuff
Try optimising a dell latitude e6520 pls
dude i use ubuntu but im stuck in 18.04 lts.still when i open app sofftware its says system is up to date
Use Dedicated Gpu In your laptop with external psu and external pcie slot you will get so much more performance
that laptop would not have thunderbolt or usb c and running a egpu from usb 2.0 would be horrible
ever heard about bottleneck?
@@coralthecat912 He could use the pcie x1 from the wifi card slot
I have endeavorOS (Arch with a KDE interface) running on an old dell laptop with a 6th gen i5 and 16 gb of ram, its pretty good, but the igpu sucks for gaming.
2 minutes ago? Never been this early before lmaoo, great vid btw.
Great video (first yay lol)
Why not use Debian with Plank and Compiz and Nitrogen?
i am upset that they are gonna charge for security updates. I cant switch to 11, Because of my Core i3 7100 is not supported.
Damn, nice. But one thing I am worried about is the security of Linux and the compatibility of things on the laptop
The security is great on linux. Oh and I use arch btw
Compatibility has gotten way better recently and it gets better everyday
@@tacticat5041 Oh alright, I appriciate the info
You're webcam is in a bad spot since I can't see what mods do you installed for utilization.
Do you keep your data from windows?
Im suprised by the trackpad problems. The WiFi problems make sense, as intel chipsets are the only ones you can trust. To be fair, modern chipsets should all work though
i do dual boot windows 11 and arch linux... in windows 11 it's was such a crap that made my laptop overheat and laggy, but in arch lnux my laptop peform 50% times better and more coolder than windows (im using xanmod kernel)
Can i do some cloud gaming like geforce from Nvidia on linux?
Can you make a NAS server out of this laptop? I got an old laptop with windows that I think I can use to host a Minecraft server.
Yeah great use for old laptops too, I have a NAS already but back in the day I used to host my own server off my laptop for my friends to play from school
you would not want to run a minecraft server from a dedicated nas, id recommend using something like docker to work with bolth use cases, although you may run into hardware limitations
linux is known for its stability he says.
the sixty nine thousand and eighty five different warnings and errors in my terminal would beg to differ.
You should do a video on a guy named fr33thys new optimization pack
how does the performance of this os compare to windows x lite 10 i wanna squeeze out all of performance of my little optiplex
on minecraft you will get around double the fps
but on other windows games like gta v you will get around 0 to 20% performance gain (due it being windows games and not optimized for linux)
@@Azemed There are extremely rare occasions where your performance will dip because most Linux programs for running Windows games on it turn Direct X into Vulkan, which requires shader pre-caching.
What is the best sodium alternative for forge? (Exluding optifine because it is messing with the mod I am using)
Embeddium
Linux baggy in games for me. It's the display mode or whatever, but when I change it, it just makes the Computer artifact
Can you make a video about optimizing Android for better performance ?
Windows 10 IoT Enterprice LTSC 2021 has updates until 2032 + ESU bypass = 2035. About the same as win11
Btw you didn’t break the record, someone set it at ~21500fps long before you, on windows too
dude, the easiest way to install proper arch is in the arch installer type archinstall and select what you want, then BOOM
just use endeavourOS it just changes the installation to linux live instead of terminal thing
If i buy Minecraft on the Microsoft store/XBOX Store and i go from windows to Linux, will i be with the same worlds and all from my account?
Save your worlds to google drive and then switch and you won’t have to worry about it
Notro Dan!, can you please make a video how to install CachyOs tutorial please😭🙏🙏
easier than installing windows
just install iso
flash it to usb
and install it
@8:28 Fun fact: Prisim Luancher is actaully a reskined version of MultiMC
Except some part of MultiMC is broken and they didn't fix it but made a completely new launcher
Arch linux is my personal favourite❤❤❤ Best linux❤
Apparently this 20 dollars laptop runs better than my laptop
2:09 ah yes i dont even have the copilot on my computer despite having the latest version of windows 11
"For the first time, they will be actually charging for updates". This is literally the 3rd time they done this, first with Windows 7, then with Windows 8.1, and now Windows 10.
When will notro client be released?
I've been using windows for near 20 years and am honestly most likely considered a power-user/expert, so Linux is extremely frustrating for me because the majority of my experience is basically useless, the basic user experience is pretty much the same but most of the underlying stuff is different enough to cause me no ends of troubles/complications. If something goes wrong I have pretty much no idea how to fix it without scouring the internet, and even then sometimes the solutions I find don't seem to work maybe because I type it wrong or just don't understand something critical, and worse sometimes things will fail silently, so you type the commands don't get /any/ error messages, but then find out the command still didn't work because you didn't do something critical to allow it to work.
However, I've also felt the conclusion that windows 11 is a dumpster fire cash grab even more than 10 that seems increasingly like the design decisions are about squeezing more money out of the users, which makes me start to wonder if it's just regular greed or actually desperation to keep the company in the black. I suppose by all means if you're still relatively new to computers and have enough free time and energy and enthusiasm to learn Linux, by all means go for it, it seems like it might be worth wild once you /finally/ figure it out, however I honestly don't know if I have it in me to spend what little free time and energy I have relearning how to be an expert from scratch. Or to just cludge along as a novice again for possibly months/years until I finally pickup enough experience/knowledge to be comfortable again.
The Microsoft said in the windows 10 will be continue for the update the part is you need to pay the update
Dan I think you should use sodium in your optimized videos because after I've used sodium my fps went from 20 to 100 njk
He already is you can see it when h opens up his mods

Just curious, how are you recording without dropping frames?
Install ocam go to options the settings then open your game record option the set the max video fps to 145fps

Only thing missing now is better Java. I would suggest you get graalvm Java, which is incredibly fast. There's also Adoptium as another option. These Java versions completely blows normal Java out the water. And that's why I do recommend you give them a try
I use adoptium on windows, its like magic
How do you get MC to run a different version of Java? I thought they made it pretty lock and key with what Java version you can use with what MC version.
@@GIRGHGH I use the Modrinth launcher, which lets me very easily change it with just a click of a button. But you can also still change it on the default launcher if you want. In the edit installation option it lets you chose a Java executable path. Just input the path for where you have your Java executable installed. Hope that helps!
That’s my laptop I swear😩😩
Pls tell me how to upgrade to 64 bit
For the best fps use so/simple optimized for the best fps due to sodium now getting better fps then optifine
you could've used archinstall for arch
