@@2packs4sure I brought a VW polo in 2010 and I opened the bonnet to fill the screen wash and thought dang someone has stolen a cylinder every car I have brought since then has had a 3 cylinder because of Duel mass fly wheel they tick over fine although the 1liter echo boost has a unbalanced fly wheel but if you're used to big low tuned engine's then you not going to like small 3 cylinder's lol
Considering this was in the works since 2004, and now it's 2021, I don't think Ford deserves much forgiveness.
The pandemic & chip shortage has only been an issue for the last year.
@@sdrape4964 It has not been "in the works" for 17 years.
The 2004 was a concept, and all manufacturers have concepts that are just exercises only or exercises that are considered, or exercises that are revisited YEARS later.
You're right that the pandemic & chip shortage has only been an issue for the last year AND that happened to be the year when Ford was trying to launch it...
Give em' a break.
Damn, what the hell. It must have taken Ford all these years to train machines to work on that crazy ass engine, and I am being kind.
The under-the-hood picture makes me think maybe Ford just wants to discourage any owner DIY activity and ensure dealerships get all the repair business?
Yes. Absolutely. Just like new huge ultra expensive farm equipment by the likes of John Deere. Proprietary systems that only THEY can work on.
I think you hit the nail on the head.
Well if anyone EVER brings one of these to my shop for repairs they will be cussed out and permanently banned from the property.
I don't know a car but wouldn't this encourage people to work on their cars and make it easier. Looks like everything is out and exposed making it easier to reach and work on?
Exactly
Such a tight engine compartment. Just wait till you need to replace anything outside warranty
Then the fun will start
Or do a TRAIL FIX. Good luck carrying enough parts to keep these POS's running on the trail..... Better get a Roll Back hauler to take it to trail runs.
Replacing anything will require removing and reinstalling a lot of plastic that will be starting to get brittle after 3 years of underhood heat.
new strat for making cars.
the factory sealed oil fillers didnt work.
the computer programed tamper protection didnt work.
the new plan?
make them so complex nobody but the engineer can work on it
buy a twin turbo z32 300zx and this will be a walk in the park to work on. Actually a fair amount of engine bay room.
That is NOT a tight engine bay by any stretch of the imagination.
You can tell Hoovies doesn't actually work on cars when he complains about the lack of a bunch of plastic covers in the engine bay.
I HATE PLASTIC COVERS
The engine already has a cover, its called a hood
I mean it didn't look like the type of engine most mechanics would WANT to work on anyway lol. A plain plastic cover would have at least limited the immediate intimidation after opening the hood lol.
Honestly, the plastic covers are nothing compared to the damned rats nest of hoses and wires. Need to get to something on the side of the block? Disconnect EVERY single connector, vacuum line, upper intake manifold, and wire loom retainer! 2 minutes to replace a part after 3 hours of trying to get to it!
All this hoovies guy is good for is drinking pumpkin spice lattes and complaining about stuff he has no clue of..
No comments on the Transfer Cases Exploding while moderately Offroading. I watched a guy explode his at the local boat ramp... was hilarious 😂
I remember when engines were simple, mechanically elegant, and attractive.
That engine bay did remind me of some of the late 70's early 80's hose mess.
Well get used to the new times, because times are changing
@@sean6992 Seldom for the better, with the exception of medical advances.
@@pookysdad4884 What advances? Chemo and radiation?
I had a 69 Dodge Dart with a 225 Slant inline six. Easiest car ever to work on, in fact you could do an oil change without going under the car.
"What could I replace this with for 30 grand?"
A decent Original Bronco or K5 Blazer with leftover money to make it cherry.
That comment blew my mind hahaha
Right, he could have had both in the end.
Not everyone has 30k in cash
At least with an original Bronco or K5 Blazer or Jimmy, it would be a lot tougher, more reliable and much simpler to repair while on the trail. This new Bronco sucks.
Have you seen the cost of a K5 or bronco? Idk if you can buy one and modify it with 30k
I love friends (a++holes) like this guy. I had a new GTO in '70 and my friends just picked it apart! Luckily you learn to weed out those so called 'friends' as you age.
yep, got that right....done the same
Good point! My Mustang isn’t real because it’s a V6 say some “friends “
@@willkeen5010 my girls fusion has a v6. Your mustang is for wives who think they have a cool car but their husband didn’t trust them with a v8
Giving your friends a little ribbing every now and then is healthy bonding or whatever, but I feel like the line is pretty clear between that and just laying into them because youre insecure/jealous/projecting. Some people act like it isnt but for me it is and always has been an obvious line.
@@willkeen5010 The reality is that most Mustangs are four or six cylinder models and that's what pays for the tooling and keeping the car profitable for Ford. Most Challengers and Camaros aren't big block V8s either. It has always been that way and likely always will be.
My sister has one, soft top, and it’s a $60,000 aluminum can. Acorns have left dents on the hood….that’s how thin and light the metal is. She’s had several “recalls”. I wouldn’t have one.
Not having a engine cover is actually a + in my book.
I agree, I did a motor and transmission swap in an 09 mercury milan, what mess to work on, that's why they cover it up. They want to make the car's so hard to work on, that you take it to them, or get you to trade it in for a loss, to bleed you of all your money. Fortunately, some of us are smart enough to figure a way past how they crammed the dang thing in there lol.
Hoovie can't change a spare tire. He's not a car guy, he is a youtube guy.
More wires less engine 😬
@@died4us590 Well, nothing to fear about a cover blocking you here, those hoses, lines, electrics will make it far harder to swap.
"it sounds like a V8..." No it doesn't. It sounds like a 6 banger with a muffler
But it's got a turbo, so it can reach Warp 1, right??
Ford notoriously uses engine sounds through the speakers to mimic the real engine noise. It's not real. True story. Search for it online.
@@Gunalizer not sure about the speaker thing, but I do know back when I had my Focus ST, it had a pipe that connected from the intake into the port that went into the AC system to make the car seem louder than it actually was. But to be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if the speaker thing is something they do
The truth will set you free! 🔥
Sounds my dad when he snores
A chip shortage would have had zero effect on the old Bronco. The WHOLE point of the old Bronco was inexpensive rugged simplicity. This thing is a fraud.
If you can build a better car you should
Hmmm, I like what you say.
You think people would buy a vehicle today with zero features?
Fraud?
All of those gadgets = more things to go wonky.
@@Josh-179 Actually they do. Old Broncos from that era totally restored are worth a lot. People would indeed buy minimalist vehicles. Those who would not, have a glut of choices.
FYI Hovie, the engine cover is there. It's called a hood.
I’ve gotten into arguments with people that the Bronco Sport isn’t the same as the Bronco.
Yeah whoever thought that naming convention was a good idea was a moron.
They don’t even look the same.
Ford escape hahahahahahaha
Ford ripped off Jeep’s Cherokee/Grand Cherokee deal…

Jeep Owners: "I bought it for all the accessories."
Ford Bronco Owners: "I didn't have a very good prom as a kid."

“You can tie down to those. Canoe, kayak, whatever you want. Grandma…”. 🤣

It looks gorgeous. Beautiful indeed. 😍 I just wish the doorbell wasn't there. I've always hated that sound. I'd love to own it.
