We drove up to St.Helens in 1995 and there is a viewpoint looking right into the crater from a distance. Really beautiful in the summer on a sunny day. Getting away sounds good, Florida sounds appealing. Good to see your back.
Nice shot from the airplane window. One of the most unusual sights I saw from an airplane was just before sunset with clouds like in your pic. but I was above the clouds and the sun was setting below. The clouds were illuminated from below with a reddish like glow.
Hello Warren,I lived in the keys for 11 years back in the 80s and 90s they have changed a lot since then. I worked on the new bridges when they were being built, channel 5,long key, niles channel and sugar loaf chain. I miss all the diving and snorkeling for lobster and fishing, looks like you had a great time.
Good to see you back , hope mum was pleased to see you and family. Don’t overdo it , take your time in getting into the swing again. Thanks for sharing your vacation pics. Stay safe 🇬🇧
Nice skid steer but with a door that opens compared to a door that lifts your trapped in the cab if the arms are not down. Have seen that be a problem in many cases. Still looks like a very nice machine. Nice to see your back and looking ready for the everyday grind to get started 👍 🇺🇸🦅🌏⚓️🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed your trip, there is a difference between wanting a vacation and needing one, and most of us never get to it till we are on the max'ed out side of needing...I know you were there.
I started viewing and didn't catch the beginning well. No voice yet...then I saw your shadow walking towards building. I knew then...watch you more than I thought. Keep going...
Gawd I hate the whole mess of DPF/EGR/Regen/DEF/Catalytic Reduction. I wonder how many trucks get de-rated and then shut down on the side of the highway somewhere every year because these systems screw up. Gives me PTSD just thinking about it. Clean exhaust is great, but these systems cause nightmares. About 5 years ago I was at a Volvo truck service center near Vancouver, B.C. one Friday, when 2 guys came in with their new Volvo tractor. The tractor had a warning light on and had started to de-rate. They were on their way to Calgary, Alberta with a load due for delivery the next day (Saturday), and to pick up a load that was scheduled to leave Calgary on Saturday and be delivered in California on Monday. The service manager told them that the best the center could do was to try to get an analysis on Saturday (no guarantee, it might not be checked until Monday), and then decide what had to be done. The problem might be just a simple sensor gone bad. The drivers then proposed that they leave for Calgary without getting the truck analyzed or fixed, but the service manager told them that with the truck already going into de-rate, it would just shut itself off in a short time. So much for making either delivery. They might have been shut down most of the next week. Their truck warranty would cover the cost of service and parts, but not lost revenue, and the truck payment comes every month regardless.
Ahh, happy to hear you had a good time and a bit of a break. Got some time in to see your Mom (bet she enjoyed that). Just goes to show it doesn't matter how busy you are work wise, if you don't take the time to recharge yourself, and clear your mind, your no good to anyone when your sick or hurt. Watched your vacation video, the rowing squared up your shoulder for you.. Stay safe Warren and remember we are here when your ready to post any of your videos. Cheers & Welcome Home !
Glad you made a safe trip to and from, I know when I go on one it’s hard for me to get motivated again, until I remember how I went..Well glad you back really enjoy your content Warren
glad u got some R&R trip looked like a good time. thanks for time out of vaction to post a video. look forward to my hour a day of warrens life. thank u
Sometimes some R&R does more good than you imagine, glad you had a good vacation, hopefully spring comes soon and with it real nice weather for the work you do.
Hydrocarbon storage codes are usually caused by a excessive idle. I see it mostly in the winter here. Usually the driver can just push the regen button on the dash, if it has one. and let it run till notice goes away on display.
I like the yellow 🐱 motor but iused to haul fuel for a company in 2014 and they had bought 2 peterbilts with paccar engines for testing purposes and till this day they still have those 2 trucks and now an entire 30 truck fleet of trucks with paccar engines, I guess they are reliable with regular maintenance being done.
Those were very cool pictures of both mountains.i bet you had alot of ash being that close to helen's.i saw some in North Dakota.i remember when helens blew her top off.
Glad you got some time away, and real happy you are back!! Now can you help me put my engine back together on my pick up? I took it apart while you were away and have no idea how to put it back together lol. God Bless
Did you try Austin from turbo lab America for a wheel? I welded up a 2' x 8" steel pit out of old steel road plates and we buried it in the ground for doing in frames at my buddies yard, I even welded steps in the pit to walk out of. All we do is pull the truck or piece of equipment over the pit and pull the oil pans.
I’m glad that the vacation did you good. 👍 I got to say this, i’m impressed by the work you are doing! A old school mecanic with knowledge about the modern stuff! To find a mecanic like you is really hard these days. Make sure you take care of your body and mind, we are not getting younger. (By the way, if you run into problem with bolts that won’t stay tight, please Google NordLock. An easy way to get the problem solved.) Greetings from old Sweden! 🇸🇪
Might be weight restrictions/#axles, most trucks locally are delivering from distribution centers that are hundred acres under roof. Takes those big Sikorsky helicopters to set the AC units on the roofs. I watched six of them get set on a distribution center in Ocala, FL when I lived there while it was being built. Took about 2.5 hours to set them.
Hello Warren; Welcome back. Vacations are many things, Too short, Too expensive, and Too far in between. The pictures looked good. Never been in a Kayak. They make them TOO small in my opinion. I can't swim HA HA I'm surprised that you haven't rewired that light switch with a constant on possibility. I must have missed the finish of you doing that engine swap. The last one I saw was where you were trying to find a spot for the DEF tank. Looking for the next video. Be well and safe.
Glad to see you back at it. Vacations just dont last long enough. I was flying back to Medford, Oregon from Denver and had to change planes in San Francisco. United Airlines: It was a cattle run, Mooooo! The wit time in SanFrancisco was a whopping 4 hours. You gotta love the airlines!
Hi Warren, your light sensor is probably in automatic (sensing ) mode, If you turn your light switch off and on twice very quickly it should go back to manual mode and the lights will stay on hopefully Hope you had a great holiday Mate
One thing Ive noticed from my time down there is almost all dump trucks have high flotation front tires. Guess 11R22.5's don't work too good in sandy soil lol
Mom and I took the train from Alb to Portland Or. while I noticed there was a lay over in LA but did not realize it was supposed to be 4 hours. Since AmTrac was late (They are always late we found out) we only had to wait an hour
I heard something about the paccar engine that they are from Europe which means they are mostly installed in cabover that's why all the accessory things on the back side of the engine
Welcome back Warren. A change of scenery does wonders for a guys outlook. I was wondering about any carbon ring on those liners. It looks like you were just pushing the pistons out without cleaning the liner tops first. Did those rings on top of the pistons keep the liner scrubbed?
It might not be weight or link laws that keeps people from running dump trucks without trailers there, it may be length and turning radius concerns down on the Keys
Warren I believe the outlet temperature coming out of the DOC is too low. You said the DPF outlet was higher than the DOC outlet. In my experience that means that the DOC has become inefficient and will most likely need to be replaced. Also you may want to pull the doser out and check the spray pattern. If the fuel is not atomizing in the exhaust stream it will not react with the DOC properly.
I have a peterbilt 579 with a paccar in it almost a million miles on it. Just had the main bearings done on it. Talked to two different mechanics and they both said in frames on paccar is a waste of money they never last. I plan on putting a cat reman in it when the time comes. Hopefully get another 650-800k miles out of it beforehand.
Do you know if you make a socket for that liner puller it would save a lot of time and labor Take a socket to fit the nut and cut 3/4 off the top and weld 3/4 pipe between the two hafts to fit over it .Then you could use a impact to pull them. It's a lot faster. Just though it would help on the shoulders I'm gone
@@westerntruckandtractorrepa1353 I think he means to make a super deep socket that fits the nut and is taller than your threaded rod so you can use a ratchet or impact.
How do you keep your laptop charged when you are doing work in the field? Like this issue when you were running diagnostic and then running truck through re-gen, it must have have taken longer then normal battery duration!
Could you use one of those blue fluid testers to check for hydrocarbons in the coolant? They're normally used for gasoline engines, to check for head gasket leak. Can diesel engines use to check EGR coolers and head gaskets?
On your vacation episode, I recall you saying you were interested in bridge building. I have a paper back copy of: The Great Bridge: The Epic Story of the Building of the Brooklyn Bridge by David McCullough. I have read it several times and find it fascinating. I will send it to you if you would like to read it?
Glad to see you had a good holiday Warren, it’s been a boring week for me without any videos 😂. ( not really in the process of moving house ) perhaps you should’ve been a photographer nice photos, back to Reality🙈😞. Regards, Luke 🔧🇬🇧
Warren, they run bobtails because of bridge laws mostly. The other part, lots of Cubans that can’t drive very well! What AFB was your granddad stationed at? I do work for the AF and know all of them in Florida very well. The Keys are awesome.
Warren- Dad said use brain not muscle! Get a socket to fit the nut on sleeve puller. Drill out ratchet square to accept bolt. Weld a long pipe to it. Weld a washer and flanged nut to other end of pipe. (make a DEEP socket) Zip out sleeves with 1/2 inch impact crazy fast.

Too bad you couldn’t have stayed on vacation longer but nice to see you back making videos again. Thanks Warren!
Glad you got to take time off my friend you deserve it your one hard working man looks like the boys held down the shop take care buddy and god bless

Thanks for sharing glad you were able to get away for a bit !👍
Glad you and your family had great time 😎
Glad you had a great vacation. To bad it was so short. Would have loved to meet you!
A old axe handle about 18 to 22 inches long works great for pushing pistons out from the bottom.
Sounds like you need to take a vacation every quarter. I also notice when I visit my mom in Central Florida Mack is the dump truck of choice.
Sometimes some R&R does more good than you imagine, glad you had a good vacation, hopefully spring comes soon and with it real nice weather for the work you do.

Warren those DAF engines are beginning to be pretty popular now
Usually you take those motion lights and turn them off and back on quick and it overrides the timer..
Hope you had a great time pleas could you make a toolbox tour warren
Stay safe keep on wrenchin 👍

Warren, Glad you got to decompress with the family.. Florida videos were good. Anyway, work back into it slow there man.. There is always tomorrow.
I love watching the content but I would like to know the business part of the job. How do you charge for service calls? And things of that nature.

PACCAR is really particular about their motors, my sister works for PACCAR and I have a couple of buddies that work there in Columbus, MS.
I think we were in Fla at the same time
I want to remember FL has some retstrictive weight laws for construction trucks. But, I could be remembering wrong, too.
How do you keep your laptop charged when you are doing work in the field? Like this issue when you were running diagnostic and then running truck through re-gen, it must have have taken longer then normal battery duration!

Your third mountain was Mt. Adams.
BTW if you put like a blower in front of the light sensor, with a piece of ribbon 🎗 moving from the air flow, you're light will turn on each time.

What size wrench is required on your sleeve puller? Is that puller something you made or bought?
