Best Max Cushion Performance Shoe | 2023

  • "Don't judge a shoe by its stack." That could also be said of max cushion shoes. Although they tend to have the most foam underneath, they each perform differently based on how they interpret what it means to have a slab of cushion in the midsole. Sometimes it completely erases the feeling of hitting the ground. Other times it uses all that cushion to bounce yourself to newer heights. It all depends on how you want to use these shoes and what you expect to get out of them. These are my three picks for the past year.

    Just got the ghost max and demoed the triumph 20.
    It is amazing how different they can feel at yet I seem to like them both very much. The ghost max just feels like an all around supportive shoe. I think for walking around and standing all day and basic running it would be a better choice. The triumph 20 feels like a much bouncier shoe. Especially in the heel area it almost feels like there is too much cushion and that every step I take seems to bounce my heel. I think some of that has to do with the fact that the power run+ insole is also very thick and padded. Of interest I tried that insole inside the Brooks ghost Max and it gave it some extra soft cushioning and bounce which I really liked. I may actually explore trying to get those insoles as a separate purchase to put in the ghost Max.

      Nice! I had much the same experience. The triumph definitely gives more return in the heel. I found the it’s a shoe I need to be ready for. I mean it has a more aggressive feel compared to the ghost. I usually like the more relaxed nature that keeps the miles ticking and I don’t really think about it. 👍

    Given how much I dislike the regular Ghost, I was shocked to totally love the Ghost Max. It’s been in my rotation since late Sept, and I’m actually considering buying another. The Cloud Eclipse is great, but the price point is not the best.

      I wasn’t expecting much because it’s my first time wearing Brooks. But I was pleasantly surprised. The performance is no nonsense. It doesn’t leave my feet and ankles all banged up after a run. It just feels a bit more stable. Yes, I agree On shoes are all a bit overpriced. If I could only choose one I’d go with a shoe with more versatility than the Cloudeclipse.

    Have you tried the new balance 1080v13? And if so, what are your thoughts on it?

    • @writeorrun
      @writeorrun  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have not had a chance to try the recent 1080. I think it has the same foam as the More, of which I tried version 4. I remember it being a very soft and squishy foam that wasn’t highly responsive, which is what I usually look for. But I had issues with the More under my arches so I kind of stayed away from NB. I have seen that a lot of people like the 1080 for their daily training. I am, however, looking to try out their new shoes that’ll come out in the next month. Do you think the 1080 v13 is worth buying?

      @@writeorrun just got 1080v13(for 100$) for 1 weeks, first running shoe I like it though, but I don't have any baseline to compare. Worth it for me.

      Thanks for the feedback! I’ve seen people put a lot of miles in that. Maybe the slightly lower stack than the More would give it a little bit of stability.

    What is support arch foot and wide ?

    • @writeorrun
      @writeorrun  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s stable for a shoe that isn’t a stability shoe, if that makes sense. I think the width of the shoe and density of the foam prevents your foot from moving too much from the medial to lateral sides. But the shoe doesn’t have different density foams to provide support under specific parts of the foot like the arches. It does have good room in the toe box compared to something like the Triumph. I hope that helps.

    Ghostmax or Glycerin 21 , I am broke b/w these two

    • @writeorrun
      @writeorrun  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a difficult choice. I wanted to try the glycerin 21 because it’s got the nitrogen infused foam. But I haven’t had the chance. The ghost max is very good. I’ve been waiting for a easy/long run shoe that I can wear for over two hours. I have my eyes on the new triumph 22 because it’s got the powerrun pb foam. If it’s as good as I’m hoping, I think it’ll be my choice over the two shoes that are causing you pain. lol. Don’t sweat it though. Whatever you choose will be right for you.
