    Till this day I think about all those Rza beats we never got to hear because of that flood. I know they had to be insane because Rza was much hungrier then, that original Wu sound.

    Uncontrolled Substance is dope, but it's definitely not as good as who Inspectah Deck truly is; he truly is himself on Da Mystery of Chessboxin, Protect Ya Neck, Above the Clouds, Guillotine (Swordz), Triumph, etc. Him saying that the album had a completely different sound than the Uncontrolled Substance we know of today means that the album would have been up there with Liquid Swords and OB4CL. RZA probably produced the majority of the beats on it. Plus, it was supposed to be released at the time the other clan members' solo albums came out. Fuckin depressed.

    • @goodmanfilife9131

      I heard him tell this story around 2000. About a year after that album was released. But yeah... it is fucked up. Dude is lyrically sharp, love his voice etc... It probably would've been too much work and time to get back what was lost (records, samples etc..).

    Man, I know what it is like to lose beats and lyrics because of someone or something happening to them. I had three other beat machines that were full of beats that took me some time to make. To this day, I am very disappointed, even to this day. I had notebooks of lyrics too that were thrown out when my mom moved and I was away in rehab, but yeah man, I'm still making nice beats to this day.

      I think it would've been a more complete album than that though. You listen to him on tracks like "A Better Tomorrow", "C.R.E.A.M.", "Cold World" etc. and he was clearly a thinker and a story-teller. By the time "Uncontrolled Substance" came out Deck had kinda fallen off and RZA didn't do his beats and RZA had fallen off...I think honestly Deck's album could've been amazing. The world wil never know...

      @@ScubaDude79 man... if the flood album was anything like Ironman, Liquid Swords, Only Built for Cuban Links, Tical... if it came out during that time with a prime Rza on production??? You're right, we'll never know, but I'm gonna go all out and say it was a classic album.

    such a tragedy. Why didnt they just try to recreate some of the lost songs? You could tell Deck still has those songs in his memory. Wu Tang owes the world an entirely RZA produced Deck album.

    How did I not know about this flood and lost album after all these Years? This is so painful to know it will never be heard. RZA should've remade the beats and deck the rhymes, you think they would have been able to somewhat piece it back together.

    He had best verse on - protect ya neck, triumph and cream - arguably their three most famous songs. And his verse on careful (click click) is one of my favourite across the whole back catalogue. To me he is one of their best. he’s level with the 5 who had the hit albums, just doesn’t have the album

    • @SleepFan771
      @SleepFan771 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Hunter Well okay, but that's what happened. All the members have talked about this at some point. They're not lying. RZA obviously wanted his beats and hundreds of hours of work. If he really went to a bunch of people and none of them could get the data back, then there likely isn't anything anyone could do.

    • @95steeptech
      @95steeptech 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Maybe the technology wasn't there @ the time to recover the data so they just got rid of them. But now it's possible? Idk just a thought

    • @jasonhunter6125
      @jasonhunter6125 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      a bunch of people? If you want data recovery, you go to a data recovery company. I believe it was damaged, but god damn water doesn't erase data;) You simple remove the platter and insert it into a new drive. This has to be done in an airtight lab, but that's the kind of shit data recovery companies have access to.
