Deck always came across to me as the one member of the Wu that you could just chill and converse with for hours on end about anything and everything. Dude is humble, intelligent, and well-spoken. Much respect.
Love how Deck still loyal to Wu and is willing to continue its legacy by any means and not shitting on that W symbol that was probably one of the best things in his life. He's grateful and humble in this interview. Deck first solo album was dope btw.
... then Rae: "The way I make the crowd go wild, sit back relax won't smile Rae got it going on pal, call me the rap assassinator Rhymes rugged and built like Schwarzenegger"
"I've been trained to fight one way. I'm not gonna try to switch up now. I've been doing Jiu-Jitsu for 20 years. I'm not gonna try to Taekwondo today because he's doing it." - Inspectah Deck #Wisdom
He be riding those sports metaphors. But he speaks truth. They could all be huge stars right now, be independent but use the Wu as the network. It's a damn shame.
If an artist of Deck's caliber is (and I hate to even think this) struggling, there is something fundamentally wrong with the game. Easily the most underrated Wu member. Wu Tang need to raise the flag again, get every member to pick up their pens and be on the same page. Hip Hop needs that more than ever. This shit really hurts me deep down and I can't imagine how these guys must feel about it.
I own many jewels drop more than I wear I come in peace prepared for the Warfare the invisible fold when they caught in square then they talk mad shit when the coast is clear
chaunt100 I understand what you mean. Deck, U-God, Masta Killa and I would add Cappadonna to that group are like the underdogs of Wu-Tang. I wish their solo careers blew up like the other members. I wish they had their moment to shine. Look at the album Wu Massacre. It was Meth, Ghostface and Rae. They're some of the top dudes in Wu-Tang. They left out the underdogs of the group.
I don't make no catchy trap hooks or a bunch of stripper music-Inspectah Deck . Thank God! I'm starting to get tired of mainstream music. Everything sounds the fucking same! Same trap beat whack ass Autotune and whack ass Hooks like Flicka Da Wrist!

There's still the other gen of Wu soldiers. 9th Prince, La the DarkMan, 60 second assassin, killah Priest, hellraizer, Shabaaz the Disciple! I believe you gotta put these monstaz 2gether with original members & do y'all's thing. 4realz. Werd.
Jay K. Part of the problem I feel is that hiphop insists on it acts staying young. These guys are 20 years older than they used to be when they were popular but are expected to act and dress like it's 1994.
Truth. Once rappers hit 40, people act like they should retire. That's such BS. Rockers tour through their 70's and no one insults them. These older rappers are needed right now, since they still embody the essence of Hip-Hop that is lost on the current generation. I guess Hip-Hop is at the point where we need sub-genres for it. Like an AC Rap sub-genre or something to the effect.
Wow 5 years old this video is and is still relevant one of the best interviews realest interviews that I've seen? In a while from a member of a well-known group
after it seemed like Deck missed the chance / lost the album with RZA in first round of solo albums, I remember being hyped that he did a few tracks in 97/98 with Pete Rock and that maybe they'd do a whole album together. WHY the hell that didn't happen... smh
Deck doesn't get enough credit for sticking true to himself and not changing his ways for popularity or money. Glad he has found his way with Czarface! One of the few old school style Hip-Hop groups left
I felt every word deck just said and as an inspiring artist I can relate to looking at the music right now and thinking about giving up. But if hip hop can ever come back to that lyrical dope shit its gonna be by the hands of people like deck.

I've seen Wu Tang live twice, they've been to my country about 10-15 times since I first became a fan of them but I ain't buying a ticket no more to see u guys perform. Half of Wu Tang doesn't tour no more, but at a festival I'll check you guys out again no doubt...

Raekwon purple tape is the only solo project out of the team that came close to what they did as a whole....nobody's bigger than the group hands down 😎🖤♿
Wu Tang is one of the top 5 best groups in hip hop ever, but for some of the Wu Tang members it doesn't make sense to go out on tour and get paid less then to go out on your own and make most of the money by yourself.. once you got a name in hip hop you have to capitalize off of your skill and fame and hustle to stay relevant in show business. there is more to hip hop then just rapping lyrics.

Wu-Tang Clan cannot function with every member demanding a certain level of payment with so many fucking dudes or with those BULLSHIT levels of fame demanding more pay. Wu-Tang needs to function together or it won't at all. Deck knows all this. If you read RZA's book The Tao of Wu you'll know he feels the same or listen to some interviews with him.
