I wish we got that pre-flood Deck album so bad.
I could see why that would haunt him.
they can still get in the lab and make a classic happen. they owe it to the culture. Common X Pete Rock, Nas X Primo, let's also get RZA X DECK in 2024
I feel like if that flood never happened, ODB wouldn’t have the same impact with Return to 36 chambers.
You are not lying. Deck during that period and Rza would have been historic. What I don’t understand is the flood effected Meth, as well and we got Tical as a result. Why not Deck?
I would have loved to hear what kind of nasty rusty beats where in that album ? I mean I wonder if deck could recall some of the sounds of some of the songs on there and some of the concepts? He makes it sound like it was all freestyled? It makes me wonder is what we got the more defined versions of what was lost as if the first stuff was practice? We will never know sadly
So you niggas ask and answer the questiona??? 🤦🏽♂️
Deck is a living LEGEND- from Wu catalogs to Czarface MFdoom Ghostface colabs 🤯🤯🤯 ✍🏾
He had some of the livest verses on Wu Tang albums.
Also that Czarface situation has been some of the livest shit in hip hop of the past decade, like outside of Dump Gawd, Griselda, Roc Marci etc...Czarface needs to be talked about more.
Don't forget above the clouds with gang starr. Classic.
or the fact that he produced the Wu-Tang Clan track on "Tales from the Hood".
@@NW7386 Real talk 💯👏🏿💪🏿👊🏿✌🏿
We don't credit Deck enough for his hooks on all of his solo projects.
I'll say again. Tupac removed that mans verse from gotmy mind made up. That alone says so much about what deadly lyricist h e truly is, Poisonous!
@@TorbenFewellTupac a secret hater that wasn’t okay with THE REBEL INS to body him on his own song. That’s why I don’t consider TUPAC in the top 10 mc of all time. Artist wise yes but no MC wise
Yo, yall been killen it with the guests , that Krayzie interview was incredible, he's in my top ten of all time. Now you guys got Deck on here , another top ten lyricist , Deck is one of the most under rated artists in hip hop period. His pen is sharper than a Ginsu Blade.
💯
Czarface is that sh!t! His triumph verse is a top 5 wu tang clan verse of all time period
@shaycase1834 personally that's number 1 for me. Interested to know your other top 5? The czarface stuff is da bomb
@kevinmack8157 Im 35, the first album I ever heard was Dr Dre - The Chronic. My pops grew up in the bronx, so he shaped the genesis of my musical taste. Nas is #1. He's been my favorite rapper for almost 20 years , and these last few years, he only solidified himself in that spot. 2pac, Biggie, Styles P, Krayzie Bone,
Would probably be in my top 5 all time. Styles P is one of my all-time favorite lyricists ever. I like artists with integrity. A lot of these new rappers may be talented, but they're also a bunch of weirdos out here, too.
uncontrolled substance was a fire album though
Inspecta deck is a lyrical monster
My favorite Wu member. Method said Deck is his favorite rapper for a reason. His pen game is elite
He’s Mef top 5
Deck in an old interview said the album theme was Spider-Man. Rza said it would have been Liquid Swords \ Cuban Linx level. Such a fucking shame
Damn I wonder if he let that stuff dry and kept it would there have been a way with today's technology to recoup that 🤔 what was it recorded on tape reels ?
Yeah I heard him say his theme would be Spider-man. It would have been dope too...
They should've threw it in some rice 😂
Dope interview. Uncontrolled Substance is supreme. Bump it to this day.
It's a great album. But sat next to clientele, cubien linx, ironman, back to 36 or liquid swords it was flat. From. One of the dopest mc.
Forever, One of the greatest MCs of all times.
Deck's in your favorite rapper's top 5.
I was hype for Uncontrolled Substance. It still had a few bangers but wasn't what people expected from a wordsmith like Deck
@@Aaron-rk5kl I rock with some of those tracks 💯 but compared to other core members of his lyrical caliber, his solo drop overall a let down. Deck was my fav out of the group most of my childhood so I might be holding it to a different standard
@Aaron-rk5kl no beats were complete garbage like rza trash bin , fisher price my first beats
@Aaron-rk5kl 😅😅😅 my beats are fire bro , don't be mad . Run up the view$$$$$ 2 good beats on deck album
I think it's a solid album. I used to work out to it.
Facts rec room
So CAP taught Deck and Meth how to rap. Explore that!
I still listen to The Pillage to this day 🔥
😳
"Run...If you eva pack a nice size gun...run....be tha the fuck out word to god run harrrrd mutha fucka" Fucking love that album
Ghost admits CAP would win freestyle battles… older gods put me on
your first album is a classic
Deck spoke cordially about all his colleagues, good interview technique. Always good to hear someone speak highly about someone else.
It really is!!!!
I bet that Deck album got got caught in the flood was a classic. Rza didn’t miss during that time
Wasn't it Deck, Masta Killa( Original Secret Rivals song is the only song we've heard, I believe. ), Killa Priest, Original Tical album, and something got flooded.
RZA and deck had said that if it wasn’t lost, the album would’ve been a classic up there with Cuban linx’s liquid swords and Iron Man
@@fw___nYck47 DAMN!
I've never heard of or seen this show. But these dudes dropped videos with my top 2 fav rappers ever! Back to back! Krayzie Bone & Inspectah Deck. Good shit. 🔥🔥🔥
Same. Shit just popped up. Going thru the archives
Peace God nuff respect 🙏🏾🔥
THE LEGENDARY REBEL-INS!!!!!!!! The best lead off emcee EVER!!!!!!
Great conversation. I truly admire and relate with his energy. A humble dragon. 🫡
Deck definitely one of the goats
No he not
He definitely is.
Love his perspective on his talent and grounded movement, 💩 happens, but you keep pushing!
Peace God! You got it eventually.
Around the time Deck went independent, he put out an album called "The Movement" ... I bought that album, it was solid with some standout tracks on it. But I get what the interviewers are saying here, you don't catch lightning in a bottle often, and the wave that Wu wad on at the time was unprecedented. Maybe it wasn't the right call to put Cap ahead of Deck. Cap is nice, but who is still putting out quality music? The silver lining I guess is that all of that added fuel to the fire for Deck... that's how we get the Triumph verse, and he gets dubbed the Ricky Henderson of rap.
This is a real dope podcast. Keep up the good work!!! 👍
great interview
Rebel the chillest and comes across as the coolest mf’t.
that is why you are always the the one and only INSPECTAH DECK !!!....that song LONGETIVITY with U God and FRICTION with Masta Killa will stand the test of time
I appreciate all of Deck’s work! I even copped The Resident Patient & that’s not available on streaming platforms
More of this please🙏🏾
If that flood would have never happened, Deck would be top dog in the group next to Ghost and Rae lyrically .
NEVER.
Evert Deck verde is like watching a movie in your mind. Totally underrated
'TIRED OF TRIALS .. AND TRIBULATIONS .. IT SEEMS LIKE LIFE IS HELL .. DREAMS THE ONLY WAY OF ESCAPING .. TO WORLDS THAT'S BEYOND OUR IMAGINATION .. I KNOW A PLACE I CAN TAKE YOU THERE .. THROUGH ELEVATION' ..
Ppl under pressure big time. Stay strong. God is good and faithful
Cap on winter wars was raps greatest verse.. get at me.
But props to INS, humble, positive and self accountable. That's a man right there.
One of the dopest tracks I ever heard.
I wonder what music we would've gotten without the great flood.
Yeah that would of been in mix of Cuban Link & Liquid Swords album. Rza was on some shit during that time, I can imagine how crazy that album would've sounded.
The original Tical also
Album would have been up there with the Wu classics no doubt, one we still talk and debate bout today which was the best. Rza by the time Deck came out was Digital and this and that, never to reach the apex he had again. He was in a ZONE.
Dude is correct about how you can't recreate moments. When you create art you're expressing how you're feeling at that time and everything influencing you at that point in time will come out in what is created. You never know they may have re attempted to create some of the lost music but not got it quite right and felt it better to just let it go.
Excellent interview
Baddest MC from the 👐🏽u IMO big up BX
💯💯💯
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
uncontrolled substance is dope brother deck i still bang it to this day
Yo, I can safely say ya’ll have a bright future. Very dope interview. It’s Blatant that the other host on the other show needed you guys. His knowledge on hip hop history is pretty fickle & does not have what it takes to hold an entire interview by himself. Hence why he needs 10 co host around him to ask the rite questions. Keep doing ya’ll thing ✊🏽
Deck take accountability and a true student of the game!!!
I got nuff love for inspechtah deck
Deck in my opinion should have continued to do more features. I always felt like with his style and flow you couldn’t pigeonhole him to just sounding like a Wu artist like the other members. I felt like he could have blended in with any other artist or crew
And RZA should have showcased that a lot more.
Looking back at it, that flood was a delayed blessing for Deck. Look at the run he's been having with Czarface!!!!!
Cant say that .Having a classic album during the Wu run would not have prevented him to become who he is now .
But commercially people know more about Craig Mack!!
Dope itw 👊🏾
So underrated! About to play uncontrolled substance now 🏆
Deck , Rza , Gza , have the sickest sharpest lyrical cadences and delivery in the game . Everybody on that whole damn team are beasts imagine Battleing each one of them on a Rza beat in 93!! Straight outerwordly chaos you would get destroyed left and right lyrically with crazy styles never heard they absolutely the greatest Rappers of all Time .
You lost me with Rza
Loved uncontrolled substance was just listening to it this morning
Deck has always been cool. I mixed some of Uncontrolled Substance, and he was a great to work with.
Would you do some mixing for us
A flood and label dissolving is a lot to deal with.
And yes, certain magic and moments cannot be recreated.
Inspectah Deck is arguably top 5 mc of all time !!! 💎 peace and love from East Los Angeles 🇲🇽🇺🇸
UNCONTROLLED SUBSTANCE CLASSIC 💎💎💎 like 12 joints outta 18/19
to robbeb or not to robbeb ~ that robebbing question robbebs me of my robbebability
These robbebers our her robebbin like they was robbebhood of robbebham
Wish Inspectah Deck's actual 1st album saw the light of day.
Sucks they all can’t get along and bless us all with some more music
My favorite Wu member. Super dope spitter
Salute to deck n the whole deep space 9 wu tang clan foeva 💯
At the end of the day!!!
“IT IS WHAT IT IS “
Missed magic, is missed magic and ain’t no bringing it back. But you can based on relationship and consistency to form and create a new magic that could be better than old for sure.
Damn I need to read this
Business end dropped the ball.
RZA 🐝🔥👐🏻u Tang Forever ♥️ Suuuuuu 👑
I loved uncontrolled substance . That is the only solo deck album I ever actually owned ...Too hot to handle too cold to hold !!
Deck should've been first after Forever full stop. The entire clan should've stopped what they were doing and put everything into Inspectah's album. Oh well, Uncontrolled is legendary!
Deck is the best WT member ever. Uncontrolled Substance is a high-level album, and the lyrics are so sick it should be platinum. Lyrics over beats all day!
Inspectah Deck is So Underrated it’s Ridiculous!!! Record Labels Should Give Every Artist Creative Control.
Uncontrolled Substance was heavy! I remember hearing 9th Chamber for the first time and feeling my conscience shift into another dimension!
Will deck drop U S 2 soon? Really hope so!
Poisonous paragraphs smash ya phonograph in half it be the Inspectah Deck on the warpath
That's big politics,💯 respect big bro 😎 luv ya stuff 💯
Most underrated MC of all time
It’s was just many people in the group plus one split the money but person who invested gets the most and rapper/ producer get a lot too
Stand up brother always been the rebel 😂💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
While Deck is a dope MC he didn't have that mass appeal to go platinum. Just calling a spade a spade. Respect to that brother for staying true and doing what he do. Salute!
The problem with Uncontrolled Substance was that it had 8 different producers.
Substance was dope .....
I can hear The Rza in his voice.
Deck's Uncontrolled Substance Album is a Great... it's not about the numbers for me. And I still listen to it... 9th Chamber 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Method Man's top 5 MCs are Deck, Deck, the Rebel INS, Inspectah Deck, Deck... 💯
LOVE Deck (no diddy) !!!!
Uncontrollable Substance is Classic.
Its great album and will continue to grow i think
uncontrolled substance is a classic to me
Yo Leon from Curb Your Enthusiasm is a guest 😂🔥🔥 ....JK S/O to the Rebel INS 🎤
JB smooth n Deck ain't even A alike b alike C alike
. Just complexion
Never understood why RZA didn't get back n the lab with Deck & the others when the RZA still has the sound.
Divine was pushing the record labels agenda... Whoever they wanted next came up... They had little power back then but wanted all to have a solo deal.. they did the best they could, even Meths music for trashed in the flood. He hates it a bit
Deck, Gza and the Might Killah P are the Wu Giants.
Uncontrolled Substance was great and deserves more respect
Deck never got right ✅️
Method mans first album Tical was also affected by the flood. Their album catalogue would of been even better if it wasn't for the flood.
IM GLAD HE NEVER ROBBEB YOU
CZAR !!!!!!
Get S.T here speaking some truth about rza
That Uncontrolled Substance Album was so underrated!
Of all the things lost in that flood and rzas basement. In my opinion the biggest tragedy is the loss of the Holocaust album. That kid at that time was spitting on a level no one other than him was, we've only got glimpses from the past from that era of him. And it kills me to know will never hear that s***. Go listen to the silkworm song, imagine an entire album of that.
Deck had the illest flow format outta the whole wu always rhyming in the pocket with his wordplay and rhyme schemes.
HE DOESNT HAVE THE DOPEST VOICE. HE DOESNT HAVE THE FRESHEST IMAGE. HE’S ONLY WHlTEBOYS FAVORITE. HERE AT HOMEBASE HE’S JUST OK. HE’S WHAT WE BLACK FOLKS REFER TO AS FIFTY/FIFTY
What does robbeb mean?
I feel like that Once Upon A Time In Shaolin Wu Tang album is heartbreaking to know that true Wu fans will never get that album or hear it as they should. That's damn near equivalent to not getting that Deck album lost in the flood.
Never robbeb anyone!!!
I find it interesting how upon reflection, timing is such an important factor in an artist's career. 1995 (the original release date for Deck) and 1999 (the actual release year) is only a four year span, yet they're two totally different eras. In '95 Wu-Tang was one of the hottest groups in hip-hop. Rza had the magic touch production wise and Wu put out three certified classics that year. Deck would've certainly added on to that legacy with his solo.
Fast forward four years, fans have moved on. Ruff Ryders are the hot collective with Southern camps No Limit and Cash Money also catching fire. The Wu have cooled off considerably. Rza's no longer doing full albums post Wu-Tang Forever. Uncontrolled was the first Wu-Tang album I didn't automatically buy after a string of disappointing purchases (Bobby Digital, Cappa's album, Tical 2000, Beneath The Surface, N***a Please). And before the Wu heads start replying "I love those albums", they were cool but all pailed in comparison to that first string of Wu-Tang albums. Same with Deck's album, it didn't have the impact the previous Wu solos had. Damn, I wish we'd gotten that original album.
Don't forget Aftermath with Slim Shady n Dre... Rebel INS comes out 1995 after Dirt and it's a fuqin rap..
Hip hop overall was in decline by 99. The raw sound of 93-96 was long gone and a new era begun like with Eminem etc.
Uncontrolled substance was a good album
What was missing from decks debut was the clan Brothers only ugod and masta killa came through
Fr
My favorite Clansman…
Meth
ODB
Cuban Linx
Liquid swords
Ironman
Then late 96 early 97, deck…….
Fuck that album would have been amazing!!!
Deck was coming out between Meth and Dirt.. it sadly didn't come out until 1999
Oh yea? I didn’t realize that flood was that early…….
I always thought deck was coming after Ironman. Then the flood and deck stepped aside knowing Wutang Forever was next……..
Uncontrolled Substabce was solid. Especially the back half of the album.
But it just wasn’t that early Wu…….
