I’m not sure if on the z, if it was a urethane based undercoat, or a tar type undercoat. Paint will stick fine to urethane undercoat, but it won’t stick to the tar type. My Volvo 1800ES was sprayed with like a 1/2” thick tar undercoat and it’s been a nightmare stripping it off

@@windows_down_ yeah I’ve been going overboard on removing seam sealer and sanding/wire wheeling. I just wanna get this part done move into the subframe and engine bay. Then engine rebuild and turbo ALOT going on lol.
I want to do this to my 99 civic. My underbody is in good condition. Do you think it would look good if I just cleaned, degreased, and sprayed right over the existing rubber coating? I contacted the company and they said I can do it. Just wondering if it would look good because wire wheeling it all off doesn’t sound like fun.

Wow, I wanted to raptor line the bottom of my 280zx and after seeing how good it looks I’m even more convinced to do it!!

That's essentially what I did and the adhesion seems really good! Raptor liner is very sticky though, so less prep mayy have been OK - hard to say
