    A truly epic collab! Thanks to Russ and everyone for a great video!
    My favorite controllers are the Xbox One controller and the DualShock 3 or 4, it goes back and forth for me. But when it comes to my favorites when growing up, it'd either be the SNES controller or the jank Logitech gamepad that looked like a PS1 controller but felt way cheaper and clunkier. It was the only gamepad I had for PC games for a long time.

    The only one to allow 5-6 shoryukens in a row, with no lag and no phantom readings.
    As of this day I didn't find another controller which can rival it on the dpad side.

    My favorite super old school controller is the TAC-2 for atari2600/c64. My favorite retro controller is a tie between the neogeo pad and xbox360 controller. My favorite modern controller is the 8bitdo SN30Pro+ with the XBSX controller as a close second. Personally I have never been a fan of symmetrical analogs whether done Playstation or WiiU style.

  • @raindrainxi

    My current favorite controller is the IINE NFC Wireless controller (same manufacturers who made the one with cat ears). They are rebranded into several brands in the US, but honestly for the price, the analog controls and the button response is great for me. This was the only controller that has me able to short hop consistently in Smash Bros, even more than the original Gamecube controller.

    Any chance you could hook us up with a link to those cheapo Super Console X controllers that you and Wicked liked? Also, on the subject of controllers, I'll vouch for the Pokken controller by Hori. It's very well-built and comfortable. It's great for most games from NES - PS1 era, although the lack of analog sticks means you have to stop there. The only change I'd make to improve that controller is make the ZL and ZR buttons triggers next to L and R like a PS1 controller. Their current position, next to the Start and Select buttons, feels out of place.

  • @alexgonzalez9053
    @alexgonzalez9053 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    For classic retro style controllers I really love retro-bit's refresh on the Genesis/Mega Drive 6 button pad, now with L and R shoulder buttons and really close to that nostalgic childhood feeling in your hands and it has a freaking long cable and works on almost everything from the PS3/XB360gen since it has both XInput and DInput support doesn't matter if its a mac, windows or linux system or a modern console. A great multipurpose oldschool controller for just $20 on the wired model and $35 on the wireless ones. The Saturn rehashes are also a great alternative for the same prices.
    For less mainstream controllers I'd pick the Mayflash F300 Arcade Fight Stick as big arcadey controller, just $60-70 with a nice build and component quality, but also easy to upgrade to top class buttons and stick whenever you want to go pro and the EchtPower knockoff PS3 controller, one of the few PS3 knockoffs that works exactly like an original PS3 controller including gyros and a long lasting battery for $15-20 depending on the seller... The buttons and sticks are not exactly the same on this one but they don't feel cheap at all, way better than any PowKiddy stuff xD

    For me, although it wasn't the first controller I ever used (that was some cheapo joystick for my Atari 1040STf)... Now I've come up to a grinding halt by the Atari reference. The first controller I _truly_ loved was the Competition Pro joystick. Clicky buttons and the stick itself were just wonderful. But the one I loved for the longest time and missed on future consoles was the original GameCube controller. I'm still angry we never got a classic 2D Super Mario game on that console, but I loved that controller for racing games at the time.

    Was expecting some 8Bitdo or maybe Razer controller here. Lots of surprises.
    Didn't expect the Xbox360 and here's why: for Xbox 360 games and later, yes it's a great controller. But the d-pad is so horrible. And with retro gaming the D-pad for me is more important than analog sticks.

  • @ericitchyd2311

  • @matj12
    @matj12 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    My favorite gaming controller is the DualSense. It's comfortable, and, unlike Xbox controllers, it has a motion sensor. Binding the motion sensor to mouse movement makes playing shooting games with a controller easy, even without aim assist. I think that Xbox made a mistake by not including a motion sensor in the Xbox Series controller.
    Edit: A honorable mention is of the Steam Controller. Its design is unconventional and revolutionary in some ways. Its two touchpads give it good configurability because they can have menus, gestures and other things assigned to them. It has extra buttons a motion sensor too, which can be configured in many ways. The configuration supports switching layers, so games with complex control schemes are playable with it. The two touchpads are also its big drawback because they take the places of a D-pad and the second analog stick, so the Steam Controller isn't good as the main game controller. Its configuration tool (Steam Input) can be used with other controllers, and the DualSense has a touchpad in the middle, so it has superseded the Steam Controller in most of my use cases.

      I just look young, I'm in my 40s. Or did you think I was older than that?? :)
      Sorry about the ad, I have it set to the default settings and so YT might be testing some new ad frequency stuff.
