      @@user-ug9nk4jv5g just had my DNA done and was surprised to find that I have Greek DNA. I was always told my family was from southern Italy and they were correct but I do have Greek DNA also , so you are correct my friend

    Just a nitpick: in 7:20 you have Proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy as 1961 when it is in 1861. But lovely video nonetheless.

    I love how Italians enjoyed pretty things and brought them to other countries in Europe. I mean, take Poland for instance. It was down to earth and practical until the advent of Italian Renaissance, and then it bloomed into something beautiful.

    Slight imprecision: August was not an emperor. Though he is considered to be the founder of the Roman Empire, he never had the title of emperor, the first emperor was actually Tiberius, who came after him

      Technically speaking he was an "imperator", the Latin word meaning commander, though the meaning changed to the current emperor
      So to the Romans they were all emperors and not emperors

      Yeah, sure he was called Princeps rather than emperor, but in social status and in terms of power he was emperor. And even then, I didn't think that the emperors weren't seen as proper emperors (as in higher than other people, rather than just Princeps, the first among them) until quite a bit later.

    as an italian it's always fun to hear the story from a foreign, i'm not a history tecnichian but it soud correct
    it's sad to think how we went from less then nothing (ww2) to an impressionant growth to terrorism to... idk, nothing? not much for money, but for the people (not that i liked the ww2 mentality (keep in mind that not many people were actually fascist, but i still don't like it), it was the peek for the "regional rasism"

    Great video. As for Italy, I am Italian and I can safely say it's over, both economically and in terms of social cohesion and intellectual progress. The country is in irreversible decline.

      Skipio was the right pronunciation for classical Latin, with a hard C.
      The soft C was a change in pronunciation that occurred during medieval times, as in Ecclesiastical Latin (and then Italian).

      In highschool literature (italian and history) teachers are pretty famous to never being able to end the year program and modern history isn't even touched most of the times.
