Well the Monarchy in Spain was technically restored in 1947. Franco simply refused to name a monarch and continued ruling as head of state, under the pretense of being Regent.

I teach Spanish and am totally enjoying trying to learn as much as I can about Spain and its conquests. Somehow I missed (in my own high school years) just how powerful Spain was. So, thank you for all the information you squashed into this video! I enjoyed it and am showing to my classes.
