  • Susan Wranik, Speaker, Writer, and Medical Professional, spoke at TEDxArcadia University on Saturday, April 1, 2012.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Yes words count and condition. It is amazing how many people choose the ugly way to say things. Thanks Susan for making a difference in me.

An incredible speaker - with elocution & crispness. Her vernacular shows her to be intelligent & with a warehouse of vocabulary. Her approach to situations & afterward solutions prove, with her anecdotes & stories, to have a revealing of her being a woman of the world . . . no armchair debating sculptor of ideas but one who has seen & done & lived as few others.
    Bravo, Ms. Wranik, bravo.

Thank you, Susan! My main take-aways: Use "I have explained myself?" instead of "Do you understand?" and the power of want/can/will. I'd already learned the negative side of the word "little" - are you going to your little meeting? And had vowed years ago to never use that word except in the context of actual size "what a little dog!" Thanks again, Susan. I always enjoy talking with you and seeing you and the video was a treat!

I frequently use the mantra: "I can. I will. I am." I will adopt "I want. I can. I will." for times I feel less empowered. Thanks for a great talk!

So true! The cycles of dysfunction must end and it starts with controlling what we say and how we say it.

My nephew said to my mother when he was four, "My pockets are empty." Clearly, he did not ask for money.
