The NO KNEAD BREAD you have to make! EASY Focaccia Recipe!

  • The more authentic focaccia recipes tend to be a sticky mess that is best left to the professionals but in this no knead method, copious amounts of olive oil and a lack of kneading provide you with surprisingly impressive and easy to handle loaf. Once you have the method down the dough can be transformed with a number of different toppings or even made into a deep-dish style pizza with some good passata and mozzarella.
    You'll need:
    (US Measurements)
    For the dough:
    1 x ¼ oz sachet dried yeast
    1 tbsp honey
    2 & ½ cups warm water
    5 & ¼ cups plain flour
    1 tbsp sea salt flakes
    4 tbsp olive oil
    For the garlic, basil rub:
    4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
    2 tsp sea salt flakes
    Large handful basil leaves
    3 tbsp olive oil
    (Metric Measurements)
    For the dough:
    1x 7g sachet dried yeast
    1 tbsp honey
    600ml warm water
    650g plain flour
    1 tbsp sea salt flakes
    4 tbsp olive oil
    For the garlic, basil rub:
    4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
    2 tsp sea salt flakes
    Large handful basil leaves
    3 tbsp olive oil

    I’ve tried about 4 different focaccia recipes and while all have been good, this one takes the cake! I do use my stand mixer and dough hook since I have it, but even if I didn’t this recipe would be just as easy. This will be my go to focaccia recipe for the foreseeable future and that’s saying a lot since I’m the girl who likes to make focaccia bread art as gifts so that’s saying a lot as I like my bread art to be beautiful and tasty.

    Bread flavored with garlic and olive oil is one of my favorite things to eat, and focaccia is always good on its own or covered in various spreads.

    I made this yesterday to bake today. It was huge when it came out of the oven, I think the recipe said the tray needed to be an inch deep, mine was deeper but the bread was about 3.5 inches deep when it had cooled. I'm a complete novice when it comes to bread baking so I'm not sure what I did wrong. It tastes nice but we'll be eating it for about a week 😂

    Focaccia....what I call crack!! I'm so making this, either just like you did, or rosemary and green olives, or sun dried tomatoes, so many options. I wish I'd seen this earlier in the day, it would already be in the fridge. Donal, you scored again with another great recipe!!!

    Yes, I will make this. I love the basil, garlic, and salt. Most recipes call for Rosemary. My wife and I are not lovers of Rosemary. I might add cherry tomato halves and cracked black pepper and a light sprinkling of Parmesan cheese. Just found your channel and have subscribed.

    EDIT: Well, I baked it yesterday morning and it was gorgeous! Now, a few edits on my part. I needed to turn my oven down to 200c as it was just too hot otherwise. Also, I used bread flour instead of plain flour and sugar in place of honey. I was so afraid that the bread would turn out too oily but it was perfect. So crisp on the top and bottom and beautifully fluffy and airy on the inside. This is definitely going on my regular bread baking list....yes, I have one of those, teehee. Thanks again Donal!

    I used all purpose flour and followed the amount to a T but my dough was a tad too dry then I added a bit more water tell it was the same texture as yours. But and the end of the bake it ended up rising alot more than yours plus the mixture actually bubbled out of the bowl it rose so much in the fridge. But im waiting on it to cool and for toppings I used rosemary and salt ill try to do this again to see where I maybe went wrong. thanks for the good video tho it inspired me to make my bread and wanna keep it up :) :) :)

    I just made no knead focaccia today, similar method. This hydration is 92%, where mine was 75%, and difficult to spread. I don’t use as much oil, it’s a bit too much. However, I subscribed, nice video! Regards from NJ.

    Hi Donal,
    I tried this bread twice and use plain flour. But each time I notice the dough just comes together and is not at all runny like the one shown in video. The bread comes out tasty but would you suggest adding additional water to make it runny? If yes, how much? Until I get similar consistency as urs? Would it improve the texture compared to what I have got already? My bread also cracked while baking, could it be because of the same reason? Also I notice that it doesn't turn as beautiful Golden as in the video by the time it's baked.
    Plz advise.

    I have always wanted to make this focaccia.. but i don’t master the skill of kneading. And i found Donal’s recipe which is perfect for me to try ! So i have bought all the ingredients and will see how it turns out ;)
    Update: I think I did it well in terms of texture I guess hahhaha but I might have sprinkle a lil extra salt… so I made a salsa to eat with xp Thank you Donal for the recipe !!!
