The scarry thing is hoovie probably gets a 30% discount so anyone else would pay 13-15k at a shop. This is why I’ve always learned to work on my own shit. ALWAYS. TRUE STORY: A year or so ago I was driving home from work when the guy in front of me, very gently and very slowly, drove off the right hand side of the road at highway speed and without any brakes drove down into the culvert and then, yes, just like you stated, he "Dukes of Hazzard'ed" it off the edge of someone's driveway and launched his Buick a good 20+ feet into the air before tumbling three or four times, landing on his roof. All because he fell asleep at the wheel. So, yes, people do actually hit driveways edge-on via the ditch. EDIT: Being the first one on the scene, I found him uninjured hanging from his seatbelt. He released it (against my recommendations) and fell head first into all the broken glass. But he was panicking so... He was also too large to fit out the now squished side windows. After confirming he wasn't injured I pulled him out by his feet. He was a BIG boy. He sat against a tree while we waited for 911 to respond. He said he had fallen asleep. I have video of our conversation and the wreckage after the accident.

Dropping $10k into this Hellcat isn’t really that bad cause you could have bought more expensive $40-$50k version and still have the Hemi tick . At least this way you’re getting a rebuilt motor that will last a while. Almost every hellcat you buy is going to be beaten up.
People don’t understand that although these are built for racing they even professional drag racing teams have to rebuild their engines from time to time and maintenance on race teams is constant.

That's a good way to frame this, especially on a car that is either going to be a well-kept example with a huge price premium, or abused with issues. Ngl, compared to labor rates on the west coast, $10k for all of that doesn't really sound like a lot (I'm assuming parts are included in that 10k). I'd do the clutch tho, since it's already out, might as well have a mechanically-brand new, stupid-fast muscle car.

I've been collecting old pictures of my mother's childhood home and homestead from the 1940's in Campbell Missouri from relatives and got a copy of the original blueprints of the remodel adding a bathroom on the main floor from the 1930's. It is my desire to rebuild the house as it was in 1955 when my parents graduated from high school. My grandparents raised 9 children in that house from the late 30's till the late 70's when my grandfather passed and the house was too big for my grandmother to keep up. My grandfather's family had a old groceries and sundries outpost in Campbell Mo. from the late 1870's until the 1970's when my grandfather passed. Got lots of pictures of the store and maybe one day I can open a store like it and operate it in my retirement..

The gap is technically public land. Depending on jurisdiction, a corridor of about 1 to 3 feet off the road or sidewalk is part of either the city public right of way, or utility easement, so the municipality can dictate the surface material and prohibit temporary structures if there is another access point to the property.
He moved the main entrance of the property, and needed to get approval for the new culvert because they're illegal to build without such permit. Reenforced concrete is actually the 'best' building material you can get, so he surely was easily approved. The problem is that citizens complained about potential road safety issues after it was built. Even if the county had built it themselves (using the owner's money), the owner would still have had to pay to make those changes as long as they were based upon already existing laws. The culvert would've had to be covered in earth on the sides anyway, what they did is forced it (and the drain pipe) to be extended with a lot of earth into some kind of mound.
Someone in the area is definitely not happy Hoovie moved in.

Tyler, you have 10+ vehicles that could EASILY go over that step in the driveway. The suburban, the limo van, etc etc. ALL of which need to be driven.
Tell your concrete/contractor to get off his ass and get the problem fixed for the driveway NOW! You should not have to traverse the berm in4WD stuff to get in and out of your home because of his horseshit.
As for the Hellcat engine, get it built into a stroker. Get a bigger camshaft for it as well. Probably the same cost as a stock cam or barely more. And go ahead and send in the clutch to McLeod. Let themgive it a once over and a cleaning before putting it back in. You will NOT regret it. Those cars are a LOT of fun when they are done right and worth WAY more than a "good" example. Especially with a freshly rebuilt engine that has been rebuilt into a performance powerhouse that could easily surpass 1000 HP.

@@mattd1755, if the previous owner is young and a ‘get me done’ on the paper it’s very possible he drove the stuffing out of it, without doing the proper maintenance, before it could be repo’d.

Nice example is a nice example when You are about to buy it. If it was neglected, it will look the same in a week. Rebuilt one is fresh after the rebuilt, and it was less than having to rebuilt the "nice one" soon after purchase.
    Have that in mind..

This is a result of two very simple and basic principles:
    1. The previous owner beat the living snot out of this motor and probably bounced it off redline many, many times - Wizard may want to check the code history
    2. The previous owner did NOT do oil changes in accordance to how hard he drove it.
When they recommend you follow the "oil life monitor", that's for driving normal, like a normal person. And even then it's too long. You really should never go more than 5,000 miles on an oil change.
This guy needed to change the oil every 3,000 - or maybe at the end of the day sometimes!!!

      @bubba99009 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Even then you don't follow the computer since the computer tends to be very liberal with their oil change intervals... it's not in their best interest for the motor to stay intact much past the warranty expiration. Never go more than 5k (with full synthetic) even if the book says 10k. And yea this guy probably needed to go 3k and even then - just too much abuse.

Popping wheelies on their motorcycles or Rolling Coal in their trucks and throwing things at the car. We still have the ZL1 and get none of that??? Go figure! Boy, I don't have a super car, but the way he feels about the repair bill on that car is the EXACT SAME WAY I feel after I bought a used car. I worked GREAT when I bought it. About a week of driving, I discovered it needed a new head gasket. I had the work done, and everything on my engine snowballed into other issues. A year of owning the car, and I'm still working on rebuilding my engine gradually.
I'm learning patience by all means

My personal experience with this matter: I have a 2011 Durango R/T with the 5.7 hemi which I bought "previously owned" in 2014 with 49,000 miles on it. I soon found that it went through about a quart of oil every 1000 miles, and upon doing research found that this was considered "normal". I really liked the car, so I decided to just live with it while making the switch to synthetic oil (and factory filter) on my next oil change. I was pleasantly surprised when the oil consumption pretty much ceased! I continued this practice every 5,000 to 7,000 miles until the car passed 100,000 miles and I noticed the dreaded "lifter tick". My son (who is really into performance cars) told me about the problems with Chrysler's cylinder deactivation (MDS, or Multi-Displacement System) and that the only fix was to replace the cam and lifters (also decking the heads and removing the MDS). He knew of a reputable local shop that was well-versed in this repair. The mechanic showed us the old cam, and one lobe was about wiped out. It wound up costing me a bit over $3,000 (it helps to have friends in the business). The camshaft and lifters were new 6.4L hemi parts. That was about 12,000 miles ago, and the car runs beautifully now. The fuel mileage actually improved (around 18 city/25 hwy mpg), and it seems quicker than ever.
