Over the past decade, I’ve bought several mesh chairs, but all of them lost their seat mesh tightness after about a year, ending up saggy. There is a big drawback with this chair. When you recline the backwards the arms tilt into the air (as they are attached to the back), whereas on most reclines you need them to stay horizontal and there is no way to correct this.
Great review. This convinced me to purchase one. Can't wait to get it! Love all the features. I'm replacing a 20 yr old leather and wood chair. It just gets too hot, especially in the summer. Plus, their Black Friday pricing made the decision easier. Thank you!
Cheers Stu for another great review! I'm a UK freelance motion graphics artist, working from home 24/7 and experiencing lower back pain. I'm 5'7" would you recommend this over the Secret Labs Evo 2022? Your comment about sweating in PU leather during the heatwave has almost convinced me! 😉
As someone looking for a new office chair and passed on the Titan Evo 2022 before, I have now decided to get the Titan Evo 2022 (in oversize) instead of these mesh ergonomic chairs (for my use case, which prioritizes leisure/relaxation). At first, I was looking for ergonomic mesh chairs with footstools (like the Hinomi H1 Pro) for back support and breathability. Regarding footstool, I decided I could just DIY a footstool easily with any stool/cushion/portable airplane footrests. I decided to go with a budget option and got the Hyken Mesh chair. While I bet the Hinomi H1 Pro has a better lumber support than the Hyken Mesh, for my use case, I have decided to buy the Titan Evo 2022 instead. I have learned that the 140 degrees recline is simply not enough for relaxation, and the Hinomi H1 Pro has only 136 degrees recline, removing the purpose of the footstool by 50% for me. Next, Even at 140 degrees, the lumbar support is not good for the back when reclining that far back. The Titan Evo 2022 has the option to flatten the lumbar support, whereas these ergonomic chairs cannot flatten the lumbar support. Finally, I decided to go for an oversized Titan Evo 2022 because it becomes big enough for you to even toss and turn on the chair (lol) and it's reported softer feeling. Again, I can just get a footrest to solve any problems. Regarding heat, before mesh, I sat in fabric and they are fine for hot summers. I am confused why Stu said that the PU leather is better for hotter places, because everyone says the opposite. PU leather is known to be not breathable whereas the softweave is known to be more breathable (even more than the 2020 titan evo). If I was going to use an office chair for tasks 90% of the time, I would choose the Hinomi H1 Pro, but I intend to use it like a normal office chair as well as laying down to listen to music on my headphones, so I have learned to stay away from these ergonomic mesh chairs with limited recline and unremovable lumbar support.
Thanks for this video. I have bad sciatica and have been looking for a good chair. There are so many out there an so few that are at a lower price tier. I"m disabled to I'm always looking for a good price. WIll you be doing the updated review soon? Do you still have the same views on it?
I am debating between this chair or the new X1 that is currently a preorder. Do you have any info on the X1? There is currently a really good Black Friday sale on for a lot of their products.
Which one do you prefer? The Hinomi H1 Pro V2 OR the Newtral Magic? This is an actual point where I am struggeling which chair I should buy. Which one is better of course in your opinion. Maybe somone has the sane situation or question? Thank you :-)
edit: 19/12/22 i just contacted them through their website got an update they dont ship to australia but possibly might open up in the future which im assuming aint anytime soon well i already got my secretlab 22 with that twist knob lumbar but if i saw this chair before would have gotten this one. after upgrading from a cheapo mesh office chair similar shape (not the rest of the features) to this hinomi especially that headrest i kind of miss the mesh for that breathability and suspended feel especially living down here in australia when it gets hot. even when its cold i just grab a small plush blanket to cover the chair from breathing too much. though idk ive been using the full recline pretty frequently and lay mostly on my side in this secretlab and ive knocked out having some good naps on this chair because it reclines so deeeeep might be hard to make the switch. ill keep this hinomi chair on my wishlist at least. 7/10 not enough guitar shredding and hair flicking
u kinda nailed the reason i chose not to get the Hinomi H1 Pro. From my previous mesh ergo chair, I learned that 140 degrees recline is simply not enough, and the Hinomi H1 Pro has 136 degrees recline, even less. I also learned that it's better for the back to flatten the lumbar support when in max recline, and most ergo mesh chairs cannot flatten the lumbar support and hurts even at 140 degrees recline. I decided to order an oversized Titan Evo 2022 and just get a footrest. My intention is to sleep in any position on this oversized throne while listening to my hi-fi headphone system on desktop so I can catch some sleep while listening to music. I believe the Hinomi H1 Pro is good if you are sitting upright the whole time, but for my use case, I need to be able to sit up and lay down. My impression is that the Titan Evo 2022 is a better all-rounder in this regard.
I wish they would get rid of the name on the headrest or at least switch it to just their logo. I get it though it's free advertising if you're doing things in front of a web cam or whatever when you move your head people see the name. Also thought it interesting on their Singapore site the chair is sold in 3 sizes but seems like like outside of Singapore only two sizes are offered.
A lot of chair providers don’t use Amazon. Best bet is use a credit card with section 75 protection. Look it up, but should cover you for any issues (I think).
@@StusReviewsUK On Amazon there is a 1 star review from a user named Paul. He claims after 4 months the gas cylinder stopped working and it took 3 weeks for customer service to respond. how has this been holding up since purchase? have you been using it a lot? You said pretty fab things about it, but looking at you sitting on it, it looks fragile, wobbly... specially the foot rest thing, looks like something that would break after the 3rd use.
Hi Stu, I am thinking of getting this chair, but I need your advice, I have upper and lower hamstring tendonitis, so I'm looking for a mesh chair that won't be touching off my lower hamstring (just above the knees) if I have the seat height up high, I'm 6foot 2 and for me I have to have my knees below my hips, this keeps the pressure off my hamstring, however most of these mesh chairs I have looked at have some padding near the knees or in cases like the Herman miller Areon, the haed plastic is not low enough that I can set my seat height high ie knees below hips without the hamstring tendons getting pressure off the edge of the chair. I wonder if you could tell me if this would be the case for you as you're above 6 foot so it'll give me a good idea, from what I have seen the hard plastic is low enough that it shouldn't cause an issue for me in this scenario and there's no padding high up at the edge of the seat where my knees would be. Thanks so much and sorry for the long message
@@StusReviewsUKI know this is a while ago but I’m looking for an upgrade from my garbage gaming chair for my setup, is there a reason you use the secret lab for “gaming”? I’ve got a operation on my spine just above my bottom, these mesh chairs push on it and it’s so painful. I really want one but a gaming chair is just so much better for my back
How adjustable is the headrest? For example, if I don't want to use it, is there a way I can push it back without it touching my head? Is the headrest in line with the back rest of the chair? Or does it tend to push my head forward? 😅 This is the irritating thing with some headrests. 😂
you can tilt it in an inward or outward oscillating motion so it doesnt touch your head, or raise it to its highest position. Otherwise, you can choose not to install it, which I think is thoughtful on Hinomi's part.
Honestly, what I dislike the most is the giant Hinomi logo right on your headrest. They know what they are doing in a world of Zoom/Teams calls. Plenty of free advertising, but it's borderline garish.
What would you say towards the build quality of the chair? I've had no experience with ergonomic chairs (ever) but I imagine that having metal to the greatest extent of the chair would make it feel premium? Whereas this looks primarily polymer? I would really like your opinion so I can be informed on a future purchase (it may well be this!)
@@gml6040 Plastic being used on modern ergonomic chairs r not rly a big concern. Good quality plastic can perform just as well as metal while being more durable and lighter. Even the HM Aeron Remastered opted to use more plastic compared to its predecessor, the HM Aeron Classic (e.g. the base is now plastic on the Remastered instead of metal on the Classic).
@@gml6040 Yea the main thing to look out for is the warranty and per-year cost. Even tho it's not full coverage, 15 years is still very good for the price. Even if it manages to only last like 8 years, that's still only £75 a year for a good ergonomic chair that will take good care of your back and health in the long term.
Like i said - ive never been comfortable paying that much for a chair, *but* when you look at this comparatively to other chairs similar within the market, its actually probably one of the most reasonably priced in this ergonomic style. Also, please dont mention ikea chairs... They've been outlawed here at the country club... they are abysmal.
Unfortunately I am too small for this chair... despite the seat being adjustable..the gap between my back and the backrest doesn't allow support 😑 Asked for a refund but very bad experience on customer service as I haven't received an answer and the online chat is fake

@@StusReviewsUK Haha you have different problems I can imagine! :') This world isn't build for non-standard size people which is truly frustrating sometimes
@@StusReviewsUK Bahaha, exactly. It always looks absolutely hilarious when I stand next to a tall person like you. Also, on the bright side - I contacted Himoni and they told me you can ask for a smaller cilinder after ordering so the chair does become suitable for a small queen like me - hurray!
@@StusReviewsUK one can only hope. This chair is literally everything I’ve always wanted in a full mesh configuration, and the price is not bad at all. I reached out to them directly but nothing for North America it seems
I mean £500 for a good ergonomic chair is pretty reasonable. U also gotta consider the warranty that comes with this chair as this will give u a rough idea of the build quality and how long it will last. A cheaper chair that is like half the price of this £500 chair will probably only have like a 3-year warranty whereas the H1 Pro has 15 years of warranty. Therefore, you'll end up paying more to buy the same cheap $250 chair again and again over the lifetime of this more expensive ergonomic chair with a longer warranty. Just calculate the per-year cost of the H1 Pro and it's only about £35 a year! Not so expensive anymore, is it? I bet u spend more money on your mobile plan than that! And this is an investment for your BACK and HEALTH. Additionally, it's just more wasteful and not environmentally friendly to buy cheap ergonomic chairs that will last u only like 3 years before u have to buy a new one again and again over a single lifetime of the H1 Pro. Might as well spend more money on one good ergonomic chair that will last u a longer time. Also, going with a cheap chair will give u a lower quality sitting experience (worse for your back/health) with fewer features and adjustability over the lifetime of this more expensive one. In conclusion, I strongly suggest that u raise ur budget to get a more expensive and good quality ergonomic chair as it is generally more worth it than a cheap $250 one. As I always say, buying an ergonomic chair is an INVESTMENT, NOT an EXPENSE.

@@Viewer13128 wonderful thanks for the great advice. Think I will get definitely get the Secretlab EVO 😉
Thanks for this video. I have bad sciatica and have been looking for a good chair. There are so many out there an so few that are at a lower price tier. I"m disabled to I'm always looking for a good price. WIll you be doing the updated review soon? Do you still have the same views on it?
Hi!
Great review!
But how would you rate it compared to a secretlab in the same price range?:)
Hi Stu, how does this compare to the Newtral MagicH Chair? Which one do you prefer especially for back support and build quality? Thanks.
Brilliant review. Thank you Stu!
No problem! 🌞👌 Hope it helped!
I am debating between this chair or the new X1 that is currently a preorder. Do you have any info on the X1? There is currently a really good Black Friday sale on for a lot of their products.
😁. I am actually in the market for a New working from home chair. Been a long 2 years. I like the design. Very Feng Shui.
Great content. Was thinking about buying this one.
Could we maybe get a one year later review? :)
I’m 6.0 feet. Is this a good chair that? 💛
Is this review for the Big and Tall version, or the Standard version? Great video review btw!
Awesome review. Great humour mate. New sub 🙌
Thanks for your kind comments and welcome to the Country Club! 🥃
Which one do you prefer? The Hinomi H1 Pro V2 OR the Newtral Magic? This is an actual point where I am struggeling which chair I should buy.
Which one is better of course in your opinion.
Maybe somone has the sane situation or question?
Thank you :-)
Big fan of the original h1 pro, still using it today 👍
So, as has already been said, I purchased this chair based on this review. It arrives today, so fingers crossed. And I subscribed...
How is the chair since you received it?
Can you recommend it?
I like it, but looks like tolerances need some work. I'll wait for gen 2.
Nice review but what is that screensaver playing on your beautiful desk ?
edit: 19/12/22 i just contacted them through their website got an update they dont ship to australia but possibly might open up in the future which im assuming aint anytime soon
well i already got my secretlab 22 with that twist knob lumbar but if i saw this chair before would have gotten this one. after upgrading from a cheapo mesh office chair similar shape (not the rest of the features) to this hinomi especially that headrest i kind of miss the mesh for that breathability and suspended feel especially living down here in australia when it gets hot. even when its cold i just grab a small plush blanket to cover the chair from breathing too much. though idk ive been using the full recline pretty frequently and lay mostly on my side in this secretlab and ive knocked out having some good naps on this chair because it reclines so deeeeep might be hard to make the switch. ill keep this hinomi chair on my wishlist at least.
Thanks Stu, that was an interesting review.
Thanks Juliet! Glad you enjoyed the episode!
so hows that chair holding up.. good I hope cause i just bought one :p
Superb and excellent Hinomi H1 Pro chair
Hinomi H1 and X1 are the best chairs i have ever set on.
I wish they would get rid of the name on the headrest or at least switch it to just their logo. I get it though it's free advertising if you're doing things in front of a web cam or whatever when you move your head people see the name. Also thought it interesting on their Singapore site the chair is sold in 3 sizes but seems like like outside of Singapore only two sizes are offered.
so one year later, what's the durability verdict?
Objective, and very pertinent review. Thank you.
I just got this chair. I was a bit surprised at the amount of plastic used in the frame. But so far so good.
hey dude, can you still recommend it? Im thinking of getting one myself
@@rave7044 It's so so. I would recommend getting a steelcase chair. I have two of them and I prefer both of them to the Hinomi.
Sadly not available on Amazon and I’ve been burnt really bad when I brought and returned the secret lab chair in the past. Paid $160 to return it!!
A lot of chair providers don’t use Amazon. Best bet is use a credit card with section 75 protection. Look it up, but should cover you for any issues (I think).
@@StusReviewsUK Good advice. Everyone in UK use a credit card
Is this coming to the US? @Stu?
Looks a solid offering for the price
Thanks you so much for your work
There are some reviews for it on Amazon now and one mentions the warranty and he says the customer service is bad and took weeks to get back to him.
Slow or bad? Did they resolve the issue?
@@StusReviewsUK On Amazon there is a 1 star review from a user named Paul. He claims after 4 months the gas cylinder stopped working and it took 3 weeks for customer service to respond. He then claims they were rude and followup responses were also slow. He claims the gas cylinder was stuck and they told him to buy some tool to get it out and he felt he shouldn't have to do that since ot was under warranty. He says he got rid of the chair after that.
how has this been holding up since purchase? have you been using it a lot? You said pretty fab things about it, but looking at you sitting on it, it looks fragile, wobbly... specially the foot rest thing, looks like something that would break after the 3rd use.
I'm still using it at the editing desk, without issue. And believe me - if you'd tried the mavix chair you'd say this one is as solid as a rock!
What would you prefer, secret lab titan evo 2022 or this chair?
Depends on the use! Still using my titan on my gaming setup 👍
@@StusReviewsUK for wfh and gaming? I cant buy 3 chairs lol
@@StusReviewsUKI know this is a while ago but I’m looking for an upgrade from my garbage gaming chair for my setup, is there a reason you use the secret lab for “gaming”? Does it make you perform better or something? I would think a regular ergo chair would be better in every way, that’s what most people say. Thanks!
You need to be on the gadget show.. anyways you might not have time to answer this but would you pick this over a gaming chair. Ty sir. You brilliant
Is the chair that you are sitting in giving this review, the same one that you unpacked. the colour seems to be a lot darker.
Just different lighting. Exact same chair.
If you get a chance, it would be cool to see a review of an Xchair at some point, especially one with the heating, cooling, and massage features added on. I'm really curious if they're as good as advertised, as they're worth a very pretty penny (I think the cheapest one with those add ons is still over $1000 CAD)
I reviewed the Mavic m9, which from my memory is owned by x chair, and is built almost identically!
@@StusReviewsUK ah yes I did see that review, didn't realize it was made by Xchair as well. If that's the case I don't expect their other chairs to be worth the cost, even with the extra bells and whistles. I'll stick with my Secret Lab chair for now (bought it partially thanks to your review, which is also how I discovered your channel!) and consider a Hinomi in the future. Thanks for all that you do, really enjoy your channel!
@@alexbeattie5621 secretlab are still great, and still in my gaming setup 👌 it’s hard to pick between them - love them both for different reasons!
@@StusReviewsUKis the Mavix M9 the $1k disappointment you referred to? I don't recall seeing a follow-up review of the chair, just the initial impressions.
That thumbs up was hit faster than lightning after 7:31
your delivery and inflection are amazing here. Such a great review that kept me interested the whole video. I've said it before but you are very clarkson like. Maybe it because your from the same area of the UK? Don't know, Don't care. One other thing, and you probably covered this in a previous video. Why do your speakers not have dust caps on them? Does that not f*ck up the voice coils?
JC and Stu have different accents. JC is from Doncaster, and speaks with a slight Midlands accent, but largely sounds like a South England accent. As for Stu, I don't know where in England he is from, but he speaks with a South England accent, *probably* South East England, rather than South West England.
Bought of the basis of this review - with Black Friday deal of £399
after owning an aeron for 12 years, i have taken the plunge and decided to upgrade. the aeron was just so clunky and noisy! i think i will be very happy with it having only payed £450 anyone want my aeron? ^^
hey dude, can you still recommend it? Im thinking of getting one myself
about 3 months in, no complaints other than that the lumbar support is a little obtrusive, but i've come to enjoy it. great chair! that said the one for £150 in ikea is also a soldi chair. sat in one the other day and didn't want to admit to my wife that i liked it just as much as the Hinomi lol... the hinomi will definitely last longer though, plus the foldability is great!@@rave7044
I’ve got a operation on my spine just above my bottom, these mesh chairs push on it and it’s so painful. I really want one but a gaming chair is just so much better for my back
Can you lock the tilt position or is it just free moving?
How long till the chair starts to bottom out ?
How adjustable is the headrest? For example, if I don't want to use it, is there a way I can push it back without it touching my head? Is the headrest in line with the back rest of the chair? Or does it tend to push my head forward? 😅 This is the irritating thing with some headrests. 😂
you can tilt it in an inward or outward oscillating motion so it doesnt touch your head, or raise it to its highest position. Otherwise, you can choose not to install it, which I think is thoughtful on Hinomi's part.
@@Resolute.j Thank you so much for the helpful tip. 🙏🙏
At minute 5:18 what are those googles on the table ? Night Vision? Range Finders? Binoculars ? Does anyone know the name of them ?
how do you compare this against herman miller?
How firm is the mesh? I dislike HM because, to be its like sitting on a brick
Honestly, what I dislike the most is the giant Hinomi logo right on your headrest. They know what they are doing in a world of Zoom/Teams calls. Plenty of free advertising, but it's borderline garish.
Agreed. Never been too comfortable by free advertising. I actually use mine with the headrest off at the moment!
@StusReviewsUK why do you take off headrest? Any issues with chair so far?
How soft is the space you sit on? How maby hours you think you could sit on it

how to buy this chair in Malaysia?
How do we buy this chair if we are in the US?
What’s the weight limit on the chair ?

HINOMI X1 Ergonomic Chair: Robust Design, Supreme Comfort
apparently not available on this side of the pond... well thats annoying... I STAND CORRECTED just hit the link to the US store, ok then...
What about chair length for knee support?
does this model support forward tilt?
i got the chair. the lumbar support is too high for short people like 5’5”.
Have u tried to move the entire backpiece down ?
Is this suitable for someone who’s 6 foot 3?
Watch the episode. I tell you how tall I am, hopefully that will help.
They have a bigger size. Height is 176cm to 190 user height.
If you wanted a metal build, you’ll be paying through the nose for it. My conclusion in this episode should help you make the decision on quality.
@@gml6040 thinking about buying it as my first ever ergonomic chair as well
@@gml6040 Plastic being used on modern ergonomic chairs r not rly a big concern. Good quality plastic can perform just as well as metal while being more durable and lighter. Even the HM Aeron Remastered opted to use more plastic compared to its predecessor, the HM Aeron Classic (e.g. the base is now plastic on the Remastered instead of metal on the Classic).
@@dylanloo9856 many thanks for your input! I'm 85% sold, just need to rationalise the cost, but if it's a chair for life... Might as well!
Expensive. Especially for what it is just mesh looks like $100 IKEA chair.
Rly smooth brain thinking comparing this chair to an IKEA chair, especially a $100 one.
@@StusReviewsUK not it's on Black friday sale for £460. I'm defo gonna pick one.
Bonus points, if you have cats, they can't scratch it.
Hi
Ergotune v3 or hinomi pro 1 ?
The Hinomi H1 Pro has more adjustments than the Ergotune Supreme V3.
Any update 1 year on?
Still using it at the editing desk.
Unfortunately I am too small for this chair... despite the seat being adjustable..the gap between my back and the backrest doesn't allow support 😑
Asked for a refund but very bad experience on customer service as I haven't received an answer and the online chat is fake
May I ask you how tall you are? I am on the fence of ordering mine due to my size. I am only 1m50 tall and the website claims it is meant for people min 1m60 tall. However it is incredibly difficult to find a proper chair that does work for my size..
@Kaatastrophe I can’t help I’m afraid… I’m over 2 meters tall! 👀
@@StusReviewsUK Haha you have different problems I can imagine! :') This world isn't build for non-standard size people which is truly frustrating sometimes
@Kaatastrophe i know right?! But we manage… we just need to surround ourselves with people on the opposite side of the spectrum to compensate 😂.

Just seen the price
Unfortunately most decent office chairs are around this!
@@StusReviewsUK yeah that's only the midrange somehow 💀
The chair has NO FOWARD TILT.
It's like £500 😳
Great review but Jesus Christ you're 6'8? 😂
