    Even gas car owner are now feeling it, i have been driving for 27 years, no accident, no claim at the insurance...but strangely this year my insurance raised from 122$ to 188$ per month with no reason. This is obvious that the insurer are now financing EV loss with gas car owner.

      That’s nothing Bud, a family member with a Tesla was recently advised insurance was going up from 1.5 k to 3k a year , these EVs are an utter joke , and let’s not forget , battery and battery range degrades every year a small amount on an EV , and if your range was barely mediocre compared to an internal combustion engine vehicle , that is a huge turn off.
      Add up all the other cons of owning an EV ….. they are utter rubbish.

    Considering the inability of charging infrastructure to match the quantity of EVs being produced - a relatively recent mismatch - I wonder why EVs are are selling at all. The hybrids, especially the EVs with hybrid backup like the Toyota Prime series are not more popular than straight EVs.
    I suppose people who spring for Tesla Plaid are okay with the way they are fitting in. They are bought for their performance, not practicality, so how bad can it get for them. But for people wanting to get wherever they are going EVs have to be less than ideal.
    I retired from a Fortune 100 electric company (okay... there is only one in Arizona but I don't feel right naming them on YT) and know more about electric infrastructure logistics than the average bear. The problem with EVs, in the immediate future, is not generation/load but distribution: getting bulk electric power where it is needed. The lead time for the hardware is indeterminate, but can run to many, many years. Surges in demand make the problem spectacularly worse. easily into decades. Nobody has enough of the hardware sitting around and everybody will want it at once.
    I know one other thing: where money has to come from for these improvements. It varies by state, but here maintenance costs are borne by the company and capital projects (new or upgraded stuff) are borne by the ratepayers. For a planned project the provider files a request for rate increase with the Corporation Commission, which then looks hard at it. The members are elected, so decisions are typically made after the next election. Orders can be placed before approval because orders can be cancelled. Besieged suppliers would even welcome that, knowing the orders will come back when they can better provide the materials. These processes (and practical aspects of material supplies) mean long delays in such buildouts - decades at the minimum for being able to serve even a large minority of EVs. Just as well; not many of us can handle multi-thousand dollar (I am not exaggerating in the least) monthly electric bills. Residents of the Valley of the Relentless Sun know that being unable to cool their houses is dangerous and has led to deaths. Reality is a real B-buster.
    One might ask: why is this aspect never mentioned?

    This video exposes the big reason why EVs are failing: to be successful, cars needa robust used car market. The vast majority of motorists cannot purchase a new car-they buy when a vehicle is 2-5 years old-this age represents the optimum point to buy-you typically have another 7-15 years of useful life. And repairing an ICE is relatively easy-you can also install an engine from a wrecked vehicle. None of this exists for EVs-they are effectively worthless when the battery expires.

    Hybrid vehicles are not less problematic the ICE vehicles. Hybrid's have an ICE engine as well as a Lithium Ion battery powered electric motor, this makes them far more complex than an ICE vehicle. An ICE car mechanic would have major concerns working on the EV components of the Hybrid.

      Hybrid are more reliable than both BEV and ICE. Toyota Prius are the choice for taxi in many countries, good around town ( regen braking ) and super reliable and long lasting. Hybrid can get 40 mile plus range on battery ( PHEV maybe more ) and have no range anxiety on longer runs.

      Hybrids are not as simple as ICE cars, because of their extra complexity they are more expensive than ICE vehicles. They are not greener than ICE vehicles nor are they emission free. They have all the same problems as EVs and are not as environmentally as friendly as ICE vehicles. Twenty year old ICE vehicles can be repaired and run as long as parts and fuel exist. Lithium batteries require hundreds of tons of raw materials mined and processed using petrol vehicles, coal, gas and oil powered powered plants to build and charge. A new Hybrid and BEV has a larger carbon footprint than a ICE vehicle. When the battery expires the vehicle is dumped in a landfill. Green policies are a threat to our freedom to travel.

    • @chrissmith2114
      @chrissmith2114 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@martentrudeau6948 Hybrids have the same advantage as BEV in local travel, they can regenerate power back into the battery to slow car down instead of applying mechanical brakes that just waste energy as heat. This explains their continuing popularity as Taxis which Prius has been doing since 1997, and they are reliable and cover extremely high mileages. Plug in Hybrid can be driven on battery power for most normal trips up to 40 miles, and then the engine can take over for limitless range ( as long as petrol is available ). In short Hybrid have some of the advantages of BEV, but non of the downsides. It is also a lot cheaper to replace a hybrid battery than a full EV battery. I hate EV but would have a hybrid as my next car, my sister in law has a small Korean petrol electric hybrid hatchback and gets 45 to 50 mpg around town and over 60 mpg on a run.....

    This video is extremely biased. Its focus on the UK makes me wonder if many of these are British issues, however, much of this heavily depends on the manufacturer. I just read a study which was the latest of a few, not to mention one of traditional the car review shows I watch have tackled all of these and stated its brand dependent. New EVs actually have fewer issues than gas cars when it comes to legacy brands, especially as successive generations roll put. No, EVs do not need regular software updates, in fact some EVs don't get them at all. In the US, typically legacy automakers make dealers go through a training program to be able to sell EVs and this includes their service department, so they can always service those vehicles. Typically, for Fords for example, at least 2 technicians in their service department can handle the cars. The vast majority of these issues are with Tesla vehicles. Tesla flooded the market with EVs as the video stated, but zero support. Also, it's the insurance companies, not the owners, selling the cars with little body damage. Start up EV makers also are the ones that tend to have vehicles totaled (a word which was absent from this vehicle, making me wonder if it was research or just spit balled) more often due expensive repairs as they often make design choices with the cars that make them easier to store more batteries, but harder to fix. EVs by traditional automakers usually don't have these issues. The problem is, the vast majority of EVs on the road today are by start ups who don't really know how to make cars but can make EVs. That's the reason for the issues. However, according the general consensus is that EVs are far cheaper to operate and maintain that gas cars overall, and that has been repeatedly confirmed.

    I have a 2013 Nissan Leaf that I bought used in 2015. ALL that I have done is: charge it, fill tires with air, and replace windshield wiper blades. NO visits to a dealer nor a mechanic. A Nissan Leaf is the WORST of the EVs.
    This is quite a contrast with my 2015 Subaru Forester. Every 6,000 miles change oil and filter, which I do myself. Every 30,000 miles for dealer service at $450. Every 60,000 miles to the dealer for a $1,000 service.
    If I ever need to replace the Leaf battery, there is a service on Bainbridge Island that takes crashed Leafs and puts the often higher capacity batteries into older Leafs. However, I will likely replace the Nissan Leaf before I have to do ANYTHING.
    My plan is to buy a Tesla in 2024 to replace my Subaru Forester and an Aptera to replace my Nissan Leaf. Please keep the FUD coming. I want my next EV purchases to be cheaper.
