Just got the 1 VI today to replace my 1V. I'd say it's one of my best purchases ever. It just brings whatever I need to the table, which 1 V lacks. Plus, Macro mode is amazing, and I believe it's one of the only two phones nowadays that are capable of this close-up camera, along with Pura 70 Ultra.
Yeah the improvements are great! Only for the low pixel density and chinese keyboard glitch, the rest seems great!

Would LOVE to see an S24 Ultra vs Xperia 1 VI comparison, especially a raw vs raw comparison for them.
Nothing special about EITHER of these two phones. Hype, nothing else. Far better camera phones out there.

Can you set a custom look on the iPhone default camera app and each time you open it it it take with that custom more realistic look without need to shoot RAW and LOG and edit one by one afterward? I prefer iOS but want the more natural look of Xperia 1 VI, should I get the Xperia or get iPhone 15 Pro while it's on sale from authorised reseller or wait for iPhone 16 Pro, I plan to shoot on Nikon Zf with a 28-400mm f4-8
Great that you compared it with a pro camera. I went from the 1iii and are more than pleased with this 1Vi. Its just better in most ways. Honestly its about screen, size, weight and how easy it is to handle. Resently i filmed a footbal match and used all the lenses. I was amazed when it still was tracking at a far distance. Its not cheap but im pleased.

Great video! For some reason, HDR is not available in bokeh mode. Also a heads up for the comparison with the S24 Ultra, when shooting video make sure to select "Wide" dynamic range to enable HDR, otherwise it'll be disabled by default, and "high quality" stabilisation which enables OIS+EIS hybrid mode, otherwise it's just EIS.

Wouldnt you rather use the telelens of the xperia for the natural bokeh? I got the 5ii and the natural bokeh of the zoom lens is really great.

You make a good point about phones losing quality when zooming. Might be a smart idea to get a "bad" superzoom for your camera "to level the playing field". There's the Tamron 18-300 and Sony has 18-200. Both with f3,5 to f6,3.

@@ItsTomRich I get that , but should provide a good second reference. Zoom on this phone is terrible, here's a shot with a cheap lens. Can you spot the difference between phone, camera and camera with cheap lens.
if only the macro lens had the same sensor as the main sensor.
It would be interesting to see Sony expose the sensors and hardware to GCam, which could help massively with JPEG shooting as it does with other phones. Transformed my Edge 30 Ultra

Hdr is not added to bokeh mode, which is why the photo is blown out
In that case why would it expose that way? Surely it should still correct to ensure the correct exposure

@@ItsTomRich Xperia has face priority enabled in multi metering. Unfortunately, there is no way to disable this feature unless you disable Face/Eye AF entirely.

They are the best speakers I have ever heard in a phone it's Reminds me of htc and rezar and asus phones speakers But the Xperia 1vi speakers Better in terms of sound customization and better in terms of clarity than any other phone
It is also difficult to find a flagship phone now with 3.5 jack and sd card slot
Also the battery life of this phone is the best this year and is only rivaled by the Nubia Red Magic 9 pro If we compare the battery size between the two, we will find The Sony phone crushed red magic with its battery performance

Can you pls give me a suggestion? I need a phone that shoots 25fps to match it with my a7IV mainly. I was waiting for this model to match it with my Alpha's and my drones... The older models are not futureproof because of updates... I would like to avoid iphone also. Is there any other workaround besides shutter speed/angle adjustment? The apps are also not working properly on most mobiles.. What is your opinion?
Honestly, iPhone 15 Pro and Apple log. It is SO good I can’t recommend anything else for pro-level video in good conscience. I’m looking forward to Cinema Mode on this phone, but every Android phone I’ve used is behind compared to the iPhone 15 Pro when it comes to high-production video.
I hope Sony just focuses on the professional or enthusiastics camera people to buy their phone. They got no market for main stream AI artificial camera system. A lot of people tested Xperia cameras by using the auto mode and claim it is bad. Sony really did bad marketing here. Don't think their phones are for those one click AI photos. I got 1 V, but thinking about going for the 1 VI; however, I heard the Pro C rumors. So I might just wait.

You talk about the raw files on the xperia 1 vi are great, but i guess you mean on the main sensor no? i can imagine the raw files in especially the zoom lens are not that great ?
Surprisingly they hold up well - best on the 48mp sensor though yeah, even if they pixel bin down
I think in the dancing scene the Xperia looks better, because the brightening of the PRO camera takes away the mood.
uhm you can actually control the exposure in bokeh mode. There's a exposure and temperature slider on this mode.😊
Sony 1mark VI vs S24 ultra,please
S24 blows it away in expert raw and for 4k/8k video. Xperia’s cameras are basically 2-3 year old hardware at this point. It’s about like an iPhone 15 pro but without apples software developers. I wanted the Xperia but not after doing a lot of research on TH-cam etc from actual photographers/videographers on the S24 ultra. Sony Xperia does win on the standard point and shoot camera app as long as you aren’t trying to zoom in much.

Can you compare the Xperia 1 V vs the 1 Vi.
Japanese youtube video has it. There's difference in image quality but subtle.
@@bernardcaillouet5565 not huge, but enough to blow the 1V away. My advice, if you are on a budget and using a 1V, keep it. If not, buy the 1VI and it's worth it.

These kinds of comparisons are misleading because even a budget camera with a decent lens will be way better than any smartphone could ever be.
So why not compare it against a much more affordable camera like the zve10?

Xperia is still so much behind in auto-mode. Xperia is not for people who just wanna open the camera, take a shot, and then expect it to be perfect.

This camera in the Xperi 1 m6 loses details and has a very weak zoom. The only plus is the natural colors. Samsung S24Ultra is definitely a better choice.
I dont like these comparisons. I have the Sony Xperia 1 VI myself and my canon R6 Mark II completely destroys the images from the Sony. They look nice at full overview. However, you look at the fine details or only click zoom in once and the photo on the Sony completely falls apart by artificial sharpening and mushy details. The macro lens is great however. Do not fool yourself by influencer videos only showing miniatures. A smartphone is great for small 10cm prints. Do not go larger !
I have the xperia 4 and i will definitely not be upgrading to the 6 for they'have downgraded the screen,got rid of the dedicated photo,cinema,and video pro apps something which made the Xperia stand out from the crowd,Sony have lost their way now, by trying to suit everyone yet stopping selling their phones in the US,and other countries, and forgetting their diehard fanbase, £1299 for a phone without a video app on,and not upgrading the sensors on this phone,christ to me its the end of the road for xperia phones.

I checked this phone thoroughly yesterday and sadly its no where close to any of my professional cameras. 48MP is limited to one specific mode only, so don't be fooled.
Could say the same thing with most smartphones.

Of course. But Sony Xperia is one of a few - if not the only one - phones that capture most natural-looks just like on professional cameras. Everything else just uses too much AI/algorithms that usually look unnatural, oversharpened, and oversaturated.

@@nafeeahnaf6296 there's no such thing called "RAW mode" in photography. It's a format, not a "mode" that could help with anything. In fact, RAW photos only available in Pro mode, and not everyone is capable of using it effectively, especially normal users. Also, people admire modern phones for doing everything for them, therefore, Pro mode wouldn't work out for them. So, your "RAW" statement is not valid.
Sometimes I think YT is full or mediocre youtubers that only try to manipulate you. Bokeh mode on Xperia is imperfect in comparison with a professional camera (it is physics) but still the best of any phone. Same goes for video.
FINALLY, THANK YOU, someone that really addresses the issues with this phone. This could have been the best camera smartphone of the year, but it is such a flop, no one will ever have enough time and patience to shoot all the time in raw mode, and the auto mode sucks, dynamic range sucks, sharpness sucks, most things suck about auto mode of this camera setup, this is the main reason i will be going towards the s24 ultra instead of this, i prefer knowing that i can take my phone out of my pocket, snap a picture, and put it back into my pocket, and be sure that it is a good picture, and when i do have time, to be able to shoot in expert raw, than always knowing that i have to use raw in order to capture a stunning landscape, because auto mode might ruin it. Nice video tho, also i'm waiting for that comparison with the s24 ultra.
The dumbest thing Sony could’ve done was release the VI without a proper cinema pro app when they already have one that exists and tell consumers to wait until the next update. Sony is a joke sometimes.

we can't listen to such reveiew, try to record a video on Xperia 1 but not in natural light, Xperia is completely bad at white balance. We can't do anything about it at the moment. Also, photos in artificial light in auto mode are bad, the white balance is incorrect, which makes the colors unnatural only in Pro mode, Xperia can cope with various types of lighting, You should talk about it if you consider yourself a pro
Off the bat I kne picture A was from the Sony, the dynamic range was a dead giveaway
