What a camera! Its brilliant how they've condensed all the camera features into one app now, making it more usable. Sony is definitely going in the right direction with this phone.

Oh my God, the cameras’ quality are amazing. Sony never disappoints.
What I'm most amazed about is the Bokeh mode, used to be only on the 48mm now with it available on both it and the 85-170 telephoto is amazing man, how the heck can it just make the fall off so natural, like a pocketable full frame.

Interesting to see you use a tripod. I use Gizto self levelling head and a Sony GP-VPT2BT Commander with my Xperia 1 mark 4 . About to order Vl , great video, thanks.

As Pixel and Iphone user, i think Sony makes me curious how good this phone is. And thanks for the review, makes me "galau" in high level.......should i wait for Pixel 9 Pro (in compact body) or to buy this Xperia 1 VI ? both aren't official in my country. which is so expensive compare to other official phone here. I'm planning on getting a proper dslr camera but this phone caught my attention. I currently take photos on my Huawei P40 Pro and have always photographed on a phone. So which would be better to get the Sony 1 VI or used 1400€ dslr or mirrorless camera(including a "normal " lens 24mm to 50mm and a zoom lens)?
It depends on what you want. If you want 100% quality and detail then get something like Canon RP + lenses. If you don't want to carry backpack then go with a phone. You have all the options in the 1 VI and from the photos I've seen so far it's a very good choice.
I primarily use RAW format when taking pictures, especially with the Samsung Fold 4 in Pro mode. However, despite using RAW format, I can't achieve better editing results without a special app called Expert RAW for Samsung, which provides a superior RAW format. I'm curious if you take photos in RAW format and edit them. I'm looking for a phone camera suitable for someone who enjoys editing in RAW format. Thanks.
I do a 1 second handheld long exposure with my Canon G7Xmk3 and it's perfectly sharp. So nothing to write home about with a 1/8" exp with a smartphone ;)
May I ask is it the best camera phone If not consider chinese brand?
i honestly hope they still continue the 5 series as i don't particularly wanna spend £1299 on a phone but also don't feel confident with owning a 10 series

I've also been thinking the same thing, and it seems to me like processed Lightroom images..
Ofcourse, it's all been edited using lighroom with some good presets, plus he's a photographer, so yaa, the shots will be even better.

Pictures are heavily post-process and post sharpen. Not straight out of camera.

For a camera with its main selling point being geared towards photographers I want to see what its dynamic range is like and how it handles pushing and pulling in RAW imaging format but nobody talks about that. And these edits just look very instagramish

I don't know which one to choose between the Xperia 1 VI, VIVO X100 Ultra and XIAOMI 14 Ultra. SONY lack of os update really turn me down but I do love the phone however.
Please dont. It will be a downgrade. These tele shots are not what u really gonna get. Sony always needs help of pro photographers in promo videos to make people believe that you gonna get the same results. This guy dont even mention these photos are not straight out of camera.

Dont change. Vivo X100 Pro is a much better phone with a 1" sensor 24mm. Vivo's zoom is way way better at 100mm (4.3) optical zoom using a much better and advance 1/2" latest sensor. Xperia 1VI zoom is still using the 1/3.5" tiny sensor from 5 years ago (same as the one used in Huawei P30). The Zoom pcitures from Sony are soft, blurry and ususable. with heavily post-sharpened.

Bring back Photo Pro, Video Pro and Cinema Pro. These are the world's best mobile photography and video apps. Leave the new simplified standard camera app with a mediocre interface for new users, but let us stay with the apps like in professional cameras.

No feature is more important than having usable framerates especially for SONY camera users (your No.1 customers)
We were expecting an upgrade with 50fps and 100fps also in EU.

85-170 is a good addition BUT
We were waiting for this SONY mobile for months and now you give us no choice than to buy an the iphone with over sharpened footage, no sd card slot, no 3.5 mm audio jack.

I can share something with you. This phone is not worth the $1400 with its only 1080P display downgrade from 4K. Its zoom capabilities are also very poor using a old sensor from 5 years ago. Therefore Zoom is basically useless. You can get the Xperia 10 VI for less than half the price.
