Agreed - never hitting the US market meant it never really got much airtime, apart from the GTR love based on F&F franchise. It drives great for a 90s car.
Really informative video! In the US there really isn’t anyone knowledgeable about GTR conversions, so I actually started making a conversion list on Reddit. I’m definitely subscribing to hear more! Keep us posted on everything! I’ve seen photos of RB25s with RB26 covers which could make a for a “cheap” fake it till you make it, probably not too difficult either. But if not, I’ll say a 1JZGTE would be cool. It’s somewhat cheap, sounds better than an RB, and holds enough power. It would also make the car really unique.
Thanks, glad you like it. I'm working on which engine swaps will be legal here and will do the engine swap as probably the first thing I do, the will start on body panels and paint. Before that though I'll be doing a quick series on standard service items and common problems so it's tidied up and makes for a better daily driver 👍
Great project for certain. Great platform to do whatever you want. This build can be done without having anyone saying that you ruining anything. . cause everything is an improvement! Great you are checking out Adam LZ, he does some amazing cars. You might also check out Speed Academy from Canada. They are doing a GT-R build and a Supra Build simultaneously. Lots a great ideas from those fellas.
100%, the plan I want to do would have upset people on even a GTT, and would be sacrilegious on a GTR (not that i can afford one anyway) so auto and NA leaves me with a clear conscience . AdamLZ was half of the JDM Leno t-shirt story, and he actually gave me a shout out in one of his Eps which was very cool of him, and yes have been following Speed Academy since if first saw the Coni Celica. Their current R34/Supra builds are pretty awesome. David Pratt actually commented on on of my Eps a while ago (Ep.37 - VC Part 30) so he's checking in on Crumbles - really enjoy what he and Pete are doing over there.
I paid 21K AUD, not bad considering it's NA & auto but the main thing was it was in my state and registered. It's getting one big turbo, but not on the RB25👍
I need help. I get mixed reviews from everybody. I’m looking to buy a skyline r34 with automatic transmission non turbo this is the engine it has RB25DE NEO with 61,400 miles. With no mods Would it be good for a daily drive?
That's a really subjective questions, depends on how far you're driving, road condition in your area, what your tolerance is day to day for 90s era cars. It 100% could be fine for daily driving, I'd daily driven mine for a while and even with the annoying loud aftermarket exhaust and bad transmission its still quite bearable, but long term I'll end up turning it into a weekend and get a new x3 or something for a daily cause I'm getting old and love the mod cons of newer cars.
2JZ is definitely a contender Mitch, although I'm still hoping to pick up a MKIV at some point and do a full build so I might end up looking for a bit more diversity in the fleet - the R34 is a long term keeper, as would a MKIV if i manged to find a cheap one.
Such an underrated car

Nice episode Cam. The Skyline is a legend and this build should be legendary. Thanks.
Thanks Bob - I think this one will be an interesting build.
Nice Episode Cam! I just bought a r34 GT 1998 myself and this helps me out with a few questions I had myself. Keep the good vids coming!
Thanks! Will do!

Nice vid bro
Thanks, glad you liked it 👍
So sick
Glad you liked it
Seems to have Japanese plates.
Did you import it ?
Nah I collect plates for places I've travelled, so had these and figured they were good for not outing the previous owner.
@@TheBuildRoom good call.
They look great on the car.
Hey how much did you pay for this beauty ❤ I love to buy one someday ... And can’t we swap it to twin turbo ?

Any more info on this. Super interested!!!
Soon! Have been collecting parts to give the driveline a birthday, and to fix some of the common issues - will be kicking off shortly.

Cd009 and vk45de v8
I've been watching The Skid Factory episodes on the hako swap - VK is an interesting proposition.
A 2JZ-GTE for the ultimate 'fake' GT-R...🙂
