    Just found your video while searching for r34 diy and i wanted to say you did a great job. I appreciate the informative side and the on-the-job disaster resolve was great. Also nice to also see another west aussie r34 😁

      Thanks man - have been hoarding parts for the '34 and just about to start a new round of vids on it. WA R34s are a rare sight for sure!

    I broke the plastic clips on my air intake snorkel too 😂 now it’s using cable ties

      Nothing wrong with zip ties!

    Great work on fishing out the bit of plastic in the cylinder.
    Sucks that it happened but you were persistent and you got it out!

      Thanks - was definitely a big relief to get it all back together and have it start/run properly

      Thanks Michael - will definitely get the cooling vid up at some point. Just working on the steering rack at the moment.

    I can only imagine the terror that followed the bit of plastic falling into the cylinder. Great work getting it out though. That engine bay is looking a million bucks now!

    • @TheBuildRoom
      @TheBuildRoom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah super relieved and really happy with the bay - considering we're ripping the motor out and doing a swap at some point it might be overkill, but it makes me happy every time I open the bonnet.

    I'd love to see what is needed to upgrade to bigger brakes.

    • @TheBuildRoom
      @TheBuildRoom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Brakes will be on the list at some point mate but probably not until I do the engine conversion because it'll need to be spec'd out by for engineering approval. I do know you can retrofit R33 GTST, R34 GTT and GTR brakes but you need to be careful as some have different hub sizes from memory (even within the same model/series)

    I would certainly look into getting a Fujitsubo cat back true bolt on exhaust system.
    I had the same awful exhaust on my Hr31 coupe and after putting on new system I was truly impressed and can't recommend this brand enough.

    I love your skyline guides I’m getting a r34 hopefully by the end of September how’s the reliability on this I’m getting the same one, with the automatic transmission

    • @TheBuildRoom
      @TheBuildRoom  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My auto trans is not great - seems to slip a bit and they have issues with solenoids over time. I wouldn't say they're particularly problematic if you get one that's in decent condition to start.

    Could pick up on the cat, it will sound a lot better with a full 400cpi cat
    The RB25DE NEO is such a bastardly raspy engine and really need a big resonator and a good cat, despite this though one with an actual exhaust not just damo's straight pipe is a sound to behold
    I used a vibrant performance 2.5 inch ultra quiet resonator and the note is scrumptious no rasp at all

      @richardhasek5859 ปีที่แล้ว

      I watched your videos on 25GT...do you still have that Kakimoto exhaust? The one video with stock extractors and(you said you had "broken" cat) doesnt sound that bad 🙂

    • @TheBuildRoom
      @TheBuildRoom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I'm thinking I'll swap out the resonator at a minimum, maybe the muffler too as a temporary measure- plan is to engine swap at some point so the turbo will quiet it down 🤣

    Do you think that in this car(NA engine) the original snorkel air intake is better than the "custom" air pod?

    • @TheBuildRoom
      @TheBuildRoom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to say, I don't think the pod filter added any power at all. It might have had more induction noise but with my exhaust being so loud its hard to tell. I much prefer the stock intake so that it looks OEM. Stock look is rare on these nowadays.

    • @richardhasek5859
      @richardhasek5859 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBuildRoom Yeah i think that the air pod would get hotter air from the engine. I just bought the Apexi filter for stock box :-) Of course on my RB20DE NEO i wont feel a thing :-)

    There’s definitely a gap in the market for a piston hoover 👍🏻

    What if I don’t want to make a mistake while servicing the r34 being without that many years of experience, would it be wise to take it to a technician to get serviced on? If so what technicians would be available if I don’t reside in Japan.

    • @TheBuildRoom
      @TheBuildRoom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well if you aren't confident working on cars in general, and aren't looking to build your skillset then yes I would suggest you use a technician. There's usually companies able to work on JDM cars in each city, and the RB25 isn't overly technical so it shouldn't be too difficult to find someone near you. If you do want to build your skills however, DIY is very much a possibility. Everyone has to start somewhere, there's no reason it can't be a Skyline. Just start small and take your time, research things thoroughly and double check everything as you build confidence. Best of luck!

    Where’s the follow up video on removing everything in the engine bay

    • @TheBuildRoom
      @TheBuildRoom  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There won't be one on completely stripping the bay until we do the engine conversion - have taken some time off cause I'm flat out at my normal job. Back soon.
