    I was working from a script a friend sent me. I couldn't oblige to everything, but I did the best I could! This was meant to be more of an inside joke, but honestly I started putting a lot of effort into the video explaining the mechanics the best I could without it being too boring.
    TIMESTAMPS:
    00:00 - INTRO
    00:07 - DEMONSTRATIONAL CLIPS
    00:29 - BASIC ABILITIES EXPLAINED
    04:00 - GENERAL MAIEV TIPS
    10:56 - ESCAPE/DEFENSIVE STRATEGIES
    14:28 - DAMAGE COMBO'S EXPLAINED
    17:48 - MAIN COMBO''S DEMONSTRATED
    19:14 - BUILDS (MELEE + MERCENARIES OR CRUEL CHAIN BURST)
    30:53 - LVL 20 INSTABURST COMBO
    30:58 - MAIN BUILDS VISUALISED
    Here's the script I worked off (Thanks to Krankle):
    Intro;
    1. Disco lights
    2. Dubstep nightcore background music
    3. High energy: “whats up gamers its ya boi sneakjester coming at you with an EPIC maiev guide”
    4. Pazazz
    Start of guide:
    1. Quick 1 second shots of u making epic plays (with explosions)
    2. in epic cowboy voice:”you wanna learn how to play like that? This is what u do”
    3. Explain basics (with pazazz)
    4. Some advanced swag moves maiev can do (no pazazz super monotone and serious)
    5. Tips n tricks (dubstep nightcore again for continuity)
    THE END
    1. In cowboy voice with pazazz:”now get out there become a maiev pro!”
    2. Outro:” alright tigers this was my maiev guide, ill leave you here with a RAWRRRRR”
    Thanks for watching!

    DISCLAIMER: This video was made in 2020, I did put quite some effort in it at the time and I'm still proud of how well it did, but since then Maiev has had some changes and her Q quest at lvl 4 is insanely strong if you;re already good at hitting Q resets, so If you're more experienced pick the Q lvl 4 into more melee heavy teams

    Nice video! At first when looking a guide I said "I do not want to watch more than 15 min vid to play this heroe" and ended up with this. It really kept me interested all the way and learned more than i tought i needed. Anyway my brain suddenly grow bigger and i can understand the battlefield better so I think I can start playing this hero and don't have a stroke while trying to hit combos.

    Sigh, I went over some points you covered in the video, but since TH-cam seems trash the comment seems to have gotten deleted after I tried editing it (Either that or it's just a visual glitch & I'm wasting my time).
    Instead of spending another 30mins, if not more retyping everything (and there being a chance of it getting deleted again) I'll just compress it to a couple main points.
    The first W build combo you showed throwing your E backwards & walking into the enemies isn't necessarily bad, because it's a pretty easy way to get stacks & you have an instant escape if things go south. Think of Garrosh. You dodge his first bit of CC with Vault & even if he throws you you can instantly blink away with your E.
    Blade Dance does lose in damage output to Pin Down, but that's only the case if you're at or below 2 stacks. You also generally want to stay out of melee range while poking with your Q if you're using Q build, because of the massive damage output Pin Down + Elune + Vengeful Knives can give you. If you're constantly hitting your Q on 2 heroes Elune will guarantee that Vengeful Knives deals 4% max health bonus damage on every Q.
    Since I'm not building Blade Dance there's no real need for Armored Assault either, because Vengeful Knives just deals more damage, doesn't get affected by Armor & doesn't force you to stay in melee range.
    Without focusing on Physical Damage there's also no real need to build into AA speed at lvl20 either. Movement speed is nice, but a 2nd E charge is better. The AA speed also doesn't feel as reliable, since you can get CC'd & it messes up with Q resets. It's like having too much attack speed & trying to stutter step, you can't really perfect it.
    Really enjoyed the video tho, well done.
    If you haven't seen it already I've also made a Maiev guide in the past, which you can check out if you're interested: www.reddit.com/r/heroesofthestorm/comments/jnlq8r/after_almost_4_years_of_playing_the_game_i/?context=3

      Thanks for putting so much effort into this comment! I've read through (most of) your guide that you posted on Reddit and I agree with pretty much everything that you mentioned in this comment! Your reasoning on every point is very fair, and I'll try quickly try to give you my insight on your comments (Not for the sake of arguing, I just want to give you my insight into why I like to choose some of the options mentioned in the video):
      - Yes, the first combo (E backwards first before going in) is a very reliable way to get stacks and I would recommend people to try it out! The reason why I didn't really advocate for it is because it's very susceptible to slows and kiting. It is indeed safer, but the main reason why I don't like doing it too much myself is that it's hard to keep damaging the enemies once you've cast your W on them. You have to pretty much immediately teleport out to get your pull off in time, leaving practically no time for you to hit Q resets.
      Another point that you made is that you can dodge initial CC with your vault of the wardens and still teleport to complete safety and honestly that benefit probably outweighs an extra Q reset or 2 so yeah, very good point indeed, looking back on it I now realize I should've probably reccommended that playstyle a bit more, especially for starting players that still need to figure out their limits!
      - Honestly I just stick to blade dance because it's easier to use. It helps slightly in teamfights, it gives some extra waveclear and campclear and mainly it helps on 16 stacking cruel chains faster/activating armored assault. Like you mentioned in your Reddit guide, for me (and most people) effectively using Maiev's cruel chains build is just the most enjoyable playstyle! =] Hence why I just stick to it most of the time. I'll give the full Q build a few tries the coming weeks, see if it changes my opinion!
      - Good point about the lvl 20 AA talent! A lot of the time it's hard to get real value out of it, so in a lot of cases the E reset is probably more reliable and effective!
      I really appreciate your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the video overall,
      Cheers!

    in regards to physical damage build, i'd chose armor from blink over amor from fan since it's instant maximum value and although it can be ruined by CC that prevents you from autoing, it also has added pve value in speeding up solo camp clearing since it's the only lvl13 talent that lets you get your armor in pve situiations

    • @sneakjester919
      @sneakjester919  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a good talent for sure! Good argument about the PvE value, although it doesn't make you clear faster, just makes you clear with less damage taken, but true! If you mainly engage with your E into the combo, lvl 13 E talent is probably even better than the lvl 13 Q, but in that case I might even take the W talent, depending on how clumped up the enemies have been playing so far.
      Personally I would recommend the lvl 13 Q talent to anyone, especially if you're starting to learn the hero, because it always gets value in any playstyle (expect for camp clear, but at lvl 13 camp clear is quite fast even without Naisha's memento).
      In summary, all lvl 13 talents are very viable and can be justified for different situations and playstyles, but getting the most value out of the lvl 13 talent takes a bit more knowledge about the hero and the game in general. So if you know when to pick the E talent, go for it!

    for w build on 20lvl good choice is orb of vengeance cause with it you can do combo e - e - w - orb - e - r - q - q - e. Also for more burst damage of w build you can use e talent on 7lvl which give 30% increase of all dmg. For aa build e talent on 7lvl is good choice too. Against a lot of fat heroes talent q on 16lvl is pretty usefull and it great fits with blade dance and aisha.

    • @sneakjester919
      @sneakjester919  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely correct there's a lot of instances where those talents can shine! I wanted to mainly focus on the playstyle itself instead of specific talent picks, but I appreciate your feedback! I'll look into your recommendations, especially for the lvl 7 talent tier.

    • @sneakjester919
      @sneakjester919  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tested your suggestions a lot in the past few weeks, the lvl 7 and lvl 16 talents are indeed really good! the lvl 7 talent seemed a bit more situational but it has a lot of potential!

    Very nice guide, I am starting to play maeiv and this is very helpful!
    You did not speak about ultimate. How I introduce it in the rotation.
    And in a 3 map lane maeiv has to go with the team or take solo lane?

    • @sneakjester919
      @sneakjester919  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Bobby! The ultimates are difficult to give a proper time indication for. In general, I'd reccommend placing Warden's Cage right after hitting opponents with your W but before pulling them so your team has an easy followup to your engage.
      In a 1v1 situation, both Warden's Cage and Containment Disk can be used as a zoning tool after you've used all your cooldowns, especially containment disk is nice for 1V1 situations, because it allows you to regain your abilities, but not your opponent while he is in stasis. So as a general rule I'd say cast warden's cage right after connecting W in a teamfight (Might have to sacrifice an autoattack for it but if you catch 2+ people in a good cage usually the teamfight is won anyways^^).
      Good question about the laning! You should try to stay in the 4 man seeing as Maiev's engage is so strong (or followup on your tank) but as I explained in the video, Maiev is very good at taking camps so make sure you're always looking out for doing camps and if the game allows it, you can also roam like a genji/zeratul looking for kills but as laning goes, stick with the 4 man, make sure to catch soak if needed and always look out for camps to do on the map, especially with Naisha's memento on 1.
      If you're feeling very adventurous, it's very fun to gank from bushes with maiev. If you look at 00:14 in the video you can see an example of how strong maiev is as a ganker even 2 lvls down on the enemy team. Especially if you'r fully stacked on the W quest and reach lvl 16 cruel chains you can oneshot about any assasin in the game. So try to stick to teamplay, but make sure to anchor down a bush from time to time!
