I have noticed with my triax if i can punch bullet holes with a bareshaft at 10 yds and they hit with my fletched arrows i can shoot almost any head to 80 yds which is the farthest i practice.
That’s the key there is a lot more on the arrow being tuned then people realize
There's something weird about ballistics gel. I think it gets stretched, as the head moves through it, then it shrinks back down again.
If you look at the cut paths, and where the blades are, they don't match. You can clearly see the expandable blade is much wider than the cut path right behind it. And the fixed head, the gel cut channel is barely wider than the arrow shaft, right behind the head, yet the head clearly had to have just cut through there.
I've noticed this with other head tests as well.
We stayed what is causing that which is the cold temps it shrinks the wound channel, actually I believe I said it in this video that’s why we haven’t filmed any Broadhead tests recently because it’s not a fair showing

Pretty much stropping the head like with leather or card board pretty much polishing them my targets tend to do that too

Love both of those. Always in my quiver. All the grim reaper shoot exactly the same out of my bows, that's why I carry a mix. IMO its really hard to beat a reaper, im liking this megameat but got to use it more before I rank it with the reaper..lol
Grim reapers are just tried & true lights out and have been since I started archery years back, they have never let myself or anyone I know down in that time frame
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA been shooting them for the last 12 years or so, back then the 1 3/4 was the biggest cut they had. And like you never let me down.
I really liked the 1.5 & 1.75 cuts I shot the 1.5’s for my first couple years just so lethal
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA the 1 3/8 were the very first ones I used and couldn't believe the bloodtrail or how fast the animals went down. Switched from another brand that I will not name, cause I lost 2 deer and shots were good.
Reapers just always are so damn sharp out of the package and that makes a HUGE difference
Read hybrid title and thought it was the Wac'em hybrids. BTW hope you get the buck. Got my biggest buck this year.

“ not losing much of a cut” only bout an inch. And that’s huge In a broadhead. There’s no real reason you shouldn’t like the hybrids. Not just. You want one or the other.
I’ve never really been impressed by a hybrid I haven’t seen a reason to go that route yet in testing, sure some have performed well but I’d rather just go with a good fixed head

my exp with both thease heads kinda mixed. the hybrids seam to like to be 2in off of feild points and the hades are usally 1inch off my feild points. that said ive switched from mechanical to fixed head. bad exp with the grime reaper mech failing to open. still killed the deer and dead in 30 yeards but 3/4th of an inch hole not so good. fixed blades that cant happen.
Grim reaper mechanicals close back up after they pass through the deer I bet it opened especially if the deer died so quick and closed after it passed through
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA not on that deer. i fallowed the wound channel nada on the entrance nada on ribs nada lungs nada on exit. literally the unopened profile whole way threw. that said clearly was enuff to kill the animal. double lung and pass threw. i know it dident open. ive seen the damage gr mechanicals can do multiple times as have taken quit a few deer with them. just was a bad meck i ges.
Wasn’t trying to doubt you as there is always a chance of failures with mechanicals, just most don’t realize that grim reapers will close back shut after a pass through

Same I was pissed when I retrieved my first pass through with a grim reaper but I watched every deer except one drop with me, very good heads

I just rewatched this test I never said the hybrid wasn’t more of a cut I just said I’m not losing out on much of a cut choosing the hades over the hybrid there is no denying the hybrid has a bigger cut

I mean we know this lol but gel tests let you see the wound channel a Broadhead or rifle round will have in wild game… it’s the best way to test both without using wild game to test

I don’t like hybrid heads because I haven’t seen reason too from testing… this was a huge exception as I said in the video
