Nice review. I never shot any of these broadheads but was interested in the Rage Trypan. How have the Trypan’s performed in real live whiteTails? Do you get any pass throughs? I bought some but haven’t used them yet? Thanks

I’ve used the trypans for 3 seasons in a row and I loved them. I took 4 deer total with em but I only got a pass through on 1 of them. They are great broadheads I just don’t like the price lol

Well, at 20 looks like a dead deer every time. Have u been able to see how they do at 40? World of difference at longer distances. If you will learn to pull thru the shot with that thumb release your accuracy will improve 100%. Punching is good only part of time but usually leads to target acquisition anxiety. Meaning you will/have learned to punch as the pin approaches the target spot. You time the pin drive by and punching. Some days it’s awesome some terrible. Look up “ bow only outdoors “ and watch Josh’s thumb button learning video. His technique is really one of the best methods I’ve ever seen on video. I went to a thumb from a tigger 15 years ago and never looked back. A guy that could really shoot showed me how to “ pull thru “ the shot using my back muscles. My thumb never moves. Stays in a ridged locked position. I will guarantee you that if you will set yourself up like he does and do some serious testing you WILL like the results. Here’s the thing- the brain can not perform two conscious functions at the same time. When you decide to punch you have to switch your brain from the sighting/ vision function to the thumb command. In that microsecond your pin can and probably will move ever so slightly. At 30-40 yards that can 2-3-4” off bullseye. When you use the pull thru method you have already your brain has already activated those back muscles so you are able to keep your mind on the the target. All you need to do is focus hard on that spot waiting for the pin to come to its most steady float. With time and a few hundred shots your body will fire the release at the exact moment it needs to. Don’t worry if the is not 100% dead center your body will take over and at the last microsecond the pin will be there as it fires. With enough arrows you will see how this all comes together. Trust me Mr. It’s worth the time.GOOD LUCK.

I use the Rage hypodermic no collar. I love them. They shoot great out of my Mathews V3X 29. Wt Easton axis 5mm 340 spine 420 grains arrow. I get pass throughs on hoggs.

Grim just makes good stuff honestly sharp , fly great , an nasty cut. The only downside to the whitetail specials is lower pounding bows might struggle getting a pass through if you hit some bone with how large the cut is.

They also are a farily large head, they stick out a fair amount away from the insert. I have shot grims for years with no complaints but that is something that should be taken into account on these whitetail specials that I will be shooting this season

Do you think a 70lb bow is enough

@@masterfulancestor7065 yup anything over around 55lb should be fine unless you plan on taking those 40-50yd shots then 70 would be lowest least in my opinion
