For years I struggled with poor self esteem, avoidant personality issues and insecure attachment as I was struggling with ADHD while my mom declined psychotropic medications for me. I’m grateful that I have finally begun the process of healing, & therapy with ADHD medication, it has changed the course of my life for the better. Thank you for posting this video, I’ve suspected the emotional turmoil and difficulties relating to others to untreated adhd and poor attachment in childhood. Great video and very informative, thank you so much for posting
I would like to talk about the case of fathers who have worked away from home for a long period and who as a result have not been able to establish a meaningful parental relationship with their child(ren). once retired, they discover that their child(ren) have somehow grown up in their absence and have become like strangers whom they avoid outside the home and sometimes even inside of it. the children grew up in the shadow of a structuring authority which would have been the mother or an institution, generally the school and a whole theory of teachers and instructors onto whom the children will project the image of the absent father even when he is present because he is unable to reconnect the bond of paternity with his children.
i wish i could talk my parents into medication. of course, 40 years ago would've been the game changer for all of us. oh, well. interesting stuff, thank you.

Good point, and one that our society should be engaging more emphatically with.
