    just went through this with my simucube 2 pro, and HTC vive pro 2 (using original vive 1 base stations) The chokes helped a little, but not much. The fix for me along with the chokes, was the base station positioning. I had them mounted on my 8020 rig above my monitors. This put my wheel between my headset and base stations, although lower than direct line of sight, I believe the magnetic field put up a wall between the stations and HMD when outputting high torque. I moved them to the walls, to the left and right of the headset and experienced no more grey outs

    Ok, thanks for the Info !!! I have new a Bigscreen Beyond VR Glass, my first Lighthouse tracking. I'm sim racer (rFactor2) and use a Fanatec CSL DD pro. Wheelbase off !! All stable, Base on and I have this tracking issue, grey screen in VR 😕 So ... I have to check and modify the cable with ferrit-ring for the cable. Damn, not nice

    Ive had this issue a long time but the emi is from my motion rig, not my dd2. Same exact problem. 4 ferrites on the pimax cable helped but doesnt all the way get rid of it. It requires grounding of my motion rig, shielding/groudning all cables as well

    I have this, my Fanatec DD is fine, but it's my SFX-100 servo motors for the motion platform.
    I'm going to install an EMI filters (and breakers) on the common ground and adding some of these ferrite cores. I understand they also need to be added to the lighthouses, probably also grounding the USB hub as well.
    Fingers crossed.

    I have the same setup, csl dd and index. I get the same exact issue, I used 2 ferrite cores like you and wrapped it arround 7-8 times, and it was an improvement. Before touching the hmd would grey it out, but now I have to really try, like putting the my hand on it for extended period of time (5-10 seconds). So it hasn’t eliminated it but it’s now ok enough that I can adjust the headset if I need to without greying the screen. I’m using 2 cores so maybe using 4 will completely eliminate it in my situation.

      Thanks that feedback. That is interesting to know that you haven't been able to completely eliminate the problem but it has reduced it. The ferrite cores simply made no difference for me.

    Hi Jez, I had a EMI issue with my DD2 when I changed my Cube controls wheel for a Slimline wheel, I had interference with buttons and encoders. It's the first time I had issue and I tried my cube controls USB lead it was still the same, I solved it by grounding my rig to my USB thrustmaster handbrakes chassis that was not grounded to my rig, since then not one issue

    • @SimRacingCorner
      @SimRacingCorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, that is interesting. Makes you wonder if there are other pieces of hardware out that these DD's are conflicting with. I did try grounding my rig but didn't change anything for me. I ran a wire from the 80/20 to a radiator.

    I've got a Simucube 2 Pro and SFX100 motion system, with just the Simucube running no problems but with the SFX running I get this exact same issue. Managed to mitigate it somewhat by using a ferrite core on the cable, it still drops out every now and again when touching the headset but did improve things (Enough to not be a huge problem). All of the cables are properly shielded and I have an EMI 'blocker' inline with the power to the SFX system but still get it.
    Also worth mentioning if you get random monitor/TV blackouts when running a DD/Motion system make sure your HDMI/DisplayPort cables are of high quality with good shielding. I had to get a triple shielded HDMI cable otherwise my motion would cause random drop outs on the TV.

      @SimRacingCorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, that's an interesting read, I didn't even consider this sort of thing affecting monitors. I didn't mention in the video, but my Leo Bodnar DD doesn't interfere with the tracking either. I guess we've found out where Fanatec has cheaped out on the hardware.

      @@SimRacingCorner I use a Accuforce V2 Pro with my Index and I have no problem, no motion rig here though. Like you said, maybe Fanatec cheaped out on the shielding of their DD wheels?

    not droping index tracking but my usb hub devices would disconnect constantly, ran an extra ground cable from my mige motor mounting plate and so far so good

    Hey I have a problem with my thrustmaster open wheel add on. The mapping of the buttons are terrible, but I don’t now how to fix it. Does anybody know how to fix the problem?
    I have the steering wheel on a tx base with a Xbox one console
    Example:
    A-button is arrow up
    B-button is menu
    Etc…

    Potential dd buyer I wonder which wheelbase would have the best solution on their wheelbase that would help from this issue arising..would love to hear anyone ones opinion it might be something that's going to be an issue regardless of which wheelbase you use. But it's something I would be willing to buy a wheelbase already shielded enough to bypass this issue completely.

    Just a thought: may be running the cable down to the floor rather than having it overhead would fix the problem?

    • @SimRacingCorner
      @SimRacingCorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an idea I didn't test. The Index cable is overhead, the Pimax cable was running along the floor.

      @@SimRacingCorner just for ref, I'm running csl w boost kit and G2, my cable runs down to floor with no issues. If cable arrangement doesn't fix it then may be down to lack of sheilding in the cable 🤔

      I get what your saying. The G2 uses a different type of tracking. I'm not aware of any headset using inside-out tracking having this sort of problem, it's just a SteamVR Lighthouse issue.
