The PS2 doubling as a DVD player was a big reason why my parents got my sister and I each one for Christmas in 2002. I still have it and use it to play regular DVDs since my laptop can't.
Incidentally, the PS3 being able to play Blurays is partially what got some people to get it over the 360 (while the 360 was stuck with an "HD-DVD" add-on which of course was the failed competitor to Bluray)
That would be hard to make, it should be an investment/revenue proportion, and obviously Concord has to be number one, but we don't get to know either how much a game costed and how much did it sell unless it is a success a company can be smug about in front of investors.

Like, sure, we don’t know EXACTLY figures, but just stuff like Crash 4 underperforming compared to the N-Sane Trilogy would probably be enough for at least an ESTIMATE of how much it sold, which would give it a solid placement. It’d take quite a bit of work to research, sure, but it’s still more than possible.
the wii u was a literal step up from the wii aside from game cube controller and game cube backwards compatibility, but the controller is so niche for games and virtual console exists. if only they advertised it better and launched all the good games in time. seriously has some of the best games that came out 2 years later like whyyy?!! it feels like they werent prepared on that. the wii u had so much potential.
The funny thing is that a modded wii u with a modded v wii is backwards compatible with Game cube the only hardware it doesnt have is the controller ports and the diskdrive components to read mini discs This can be overcame however 1. you can back up your games on a regular wii and use the ISOs from there to play off of an external drives 2. and get a controller adapter (the ones you get for pc or switch work just as well). Its a little weird to set up but because the wii hardware wise is gamecube compatible the wii u is gamecube compatible due to its wii compatibility

Not only do I not consider Tetris variants all a single game, I don't consider Minecraft all the same. Minecraft mobile was vastly different before being changed to Bedrock Edition. Minecraft on Xbox was vastly different than Mincecraft Java on PC. Lastly, Minecraft is on version 1.21. That version is vastly different than version 1.9 or below. Minecraft Java is essentially a sequal's worth of changes every 10 subversions.

I'd argue the 360 still won the war. It sold at a minor loss compared to the PS3, and lapped it until after 2010, when the Super Slim models were cheap. Those original models of the PS3 sold at huge losses and that's if they sold at all. Sony lost tons of money on the PS3. Microsoft made bank on the 360. In that sense, they absolutely slaughtered Sony.
I mean it's Mario Kart and on the Wii even if it wasn't on the Wii it's Mario Kart it was bound to sell a lot. If it's not Pokémon then it's most likely either Super Mario or Mario Kart

I want gaming to be how it was in the 90's-00's. Gaming then had such a vast range of creativity. I love the amount of risk they took on odd concepts in This Y2K era- the Dreamcast/PS2/360. It should show us that GRAPHICS are not the most important thing.. If you can create satisfying movement, gameplay mechanics, physics effects, responsive parts of a environment that makes you want to explore it, engage it, etc. That stuff is so much more important. Not: {"Who can make the largest game map? Or have the most reflections?"} I think Art style, design, vibe, aesthetic is much more important. You don't need top notch graphics to greatly appreciate and enjoy playing a game. That's why we are seeing such a resurgence of players who have gone back to playing older games because they realized the aspects of gaming that they care about and are unhappy with most modern games. So hopefully gaming will enter a new era. That mixes in aspects of the older era's. With our modern capabilities that will hopefully help make it easier to create a satisfying game (without it taking 8 years to build a broken game. Hopefully) Currently everything is trying to be like a Triple AAA game or a free to play online battle Royale game.. A lot of us miss when we had game selection similar to how the Dreamcast/GameCube/360/PS2 era had a mix of. As well alot of those games came with options for local multiplayer, split screen, LAN parties, or offline modes against bots or other diverse offline CPU game modes. Yet modern games are not only lacking those dynamic options that give games nearly endless replayability features... Modern games are lacking even meeting the most basic standards for game's... They don't seemed focused on the core of the games to be Fun. They over focus on "realism" Rather than adding in Artistic adaptations for the greater good of gaming as a whole.. We could be doing so much better yet people are just coming out with the most bland game design, braindead AI, less care for physics effects... We could be doing so much better than this..
