The color red being pixelated is due to the way that video is sent to the GamePad. It uses H.264 video compression, which, among the many other things that it does, gives color only a quarter of the resolution to color information compared to brightness. This means that even though the screen is 854x480 pixels, the resolution for color is only 427x240. Normally this isn't that noticeable, but every once in a while you'll see strange blockiness where two very different colors intersect.
For sure, however it's still genuinely incredible how the Gamepad can stream video from the console with less latency than from the console to the TV in 2011. Even today it's still incredibly low latency.
Do you know why it specifically stands out with red though? I've noticed that throughout the years with various online content, but only with red. (Talking about in general, never owned a Wii U)
The Zombie U bundle including a pro controller is absolutely hilarious considering how hard they were pushing the gamepad experience in their initial advertising for the game!

I always found the Skylanders Nintendo stuff to be incredibly interesting because the series had a lot of firsts on Nintendo consoles specifically. Skylanders Spyro's adventure was initially only going to be for Wii, has a region exclusive Wii u version that was made by square enix. Skylanders swap force was the first time skylanders had an exclusive console bundle, Skylanders trap team had the only downloadable version of it be on the Wii u, Skylander superchargers was the first game to have crossover characters with Bowser and donkey kong. And skylanders imaginators was a launch title for the Nintendo switch. Skylanders and Nintendo went hand in hand

Greetings from the UK! As someone who is also slightly worryingly obsessed with the Wii U, this is so cool to see others interested in it too. I've got 3 right now (2 PAL + 1 JPN). One interesting fact I've just realised about the Mario Maker console is the exclusive amiibo was swapped between regions. In Europe, we could buy the modern colours easy enough, but it was the classic colouration that was exclusive to the bundles at launch. I always find differences between regions to be really cool to explore.
I love the Wii U GamePad. It's so comfy. I'd love it if one day they release it as a mini console Scott as a collector myself this is a comforting video
You gotta love how Scott the woz is a very special critic, who is watching and counting every mistake. And then there’s Scott from Scott’s stash, who just wants to show why he colecta and love videogames in a very elegant way It’s a clear example of two sides of a coin
I have 3 Wii U’s and always on the lookout for more. Love this console and it’s going to be a novelty down the road. Really enjoy the handful of games that really take advantage of the game pad. It’s the ideal way to play Wii games on new TVs.
19:12 as far as I'm aware this is the WiiU I have, something interesting about it is that I don't think you need to unlock characters or tracks in it but you do unlock cart pieces.I also like how you have so many, specifically for the boxes and doing nothing about what's inside.
The Mario Maker bundle set is how I got my Wii U for Christmas. I still have the amiibo but sadly I lost the booklet that came with it, which is a shame since it was pretty nice. Felt good to have by your side for inspiration making levels.
I'm not a big Wii U fan, as every game I like on it is available on the Wii or the Switch, but I saw a Wind Waker Wii U on the Goodwill auction site and had to have it. Didn't even bid, just paid what the buy now price was. It came with almost everything (and what it didn't come with we already had at home), came with a copy of Smash Brothers U, and not only looks fantastic and works perfectly but also had games installed already. I might only use it to play Minish Cap (and only if I don't feel like pulling out my Advance or DS to play my original Minish Cap) but it looks great on my shelf and matches my Zelda 3DS beautifully!
This is honestly a REALLY good video. Very different from his usual work which is refreshing and new. Packed with information, this is a great example of a passionate fan who loves the history and work that was put into this unique console. Love it!
Im diggin this chill energy discussion episode! I love my Wii U. Got the wind waker one with the gold etching on it. ive been buying for it a lot recently, and its interesting that this was the console that opened the M rated games floodgates a little bit more. Decided to upgrade my gamepad battery to one double the size, which i didnt even know could be switched out! Broke down and modded it too cause I wanted to play a lot of DS games on the TV which the Wii U is perfect for.
The Wii U is so underrated. I got my Wind Waker edition day one and I was buzzing for it. Everything about it is unique! Plus it has a great catalogue of games and a great retro catalogue on the eShop. I still love my Wii U. ❤️
This makes me really wanna pick one up again just because I did like the game pad and loved wind waker and its also always nice to go back and play the old smash games
I feel so validated and giddy that for the only "special edition" WiiU console I purchased, Scott (arguably one of the most prominent and passionate gamers/authority figures on the standard of everything considered gaming on the whole TH-cam platform), practically acknowledged it as a wise investment and essentially the best version to have on display and as a collector's item. I have no regrets for not heeding my Mom's advice back in the day that I should have disposed of it along with a couple other unique nintendo console boxes that contained my personal copies of the respective consoles.
@@xX_dash_Xx why would he have to be drunk to talk about something he actually likes? I get your attempt to shoehorn a dumbass joke in there but make sense.
i remember begging my mom to get that mario maker bundle so much when i was younger and fortunately they did get it for me and my siblings and i still have that mario amiibo, it's such a good looking figure
I always thought the Wii U was the best way to play Wii games if you don't have an SD TV, although playing on the gamepad is cool. But, for me, nothing beats a Wii hooked up to a CRT with component so far. The games just look so crisp; the only better option I've seen for my taste would be through an emulator or higher end up-scaler. That being said having the space for a CRT in your home where it doesn't clash with the home is not really as likely today, but I'm very happy with my little dedicated retro space.
I'm not even partway through the video and am wondering why the hell Nintendo didn't have this much fun with Switch boxes for all their major releases.
@@josjos-x5s I truly felt what you said, my interest is just not there as it was back then, probably because i'm older, but i had to check why and just watching the Directs, on Wii U they felt much more personalized, now they feel a lot more corporate. I think that the best way to explain this is to watch the E3 2013 presentation.
@@josjos-x5s Um, I don't tend to defend Nintendo, but let's look at this from a company perspective. If your console failed the whole generation, wouldn't you blame how you advertised it, including the packaging and style? Nintendo definitely is full of themselves currently, but it isn't them advertising there product properly that's making them a shell of their former selves. The Wii U had just as big of a gimmick they pushed just as hard and it still was their downfall because they didn't advertise it properly, of course they would make it so the Switch is as easy to understand in the advertising as possible. Nintendo is a shell of their former selves because they don't bundle games, charge full price, and sre generally anti-consumer, not because they know how to learn from mistakes.
@@firstmategiddy I wouldn't really call the wii u's gimmick something on par with the switches. The switch itself was basically a great improvement on what the wii u wanted to be and it fixed its general kinks. The console was the problem itself. I agree marketing it as another wii doesn't help but a lot of the identity developed from the wii can still be carried on, like the miis. Its just the fact they stripped away something as simple as the miis and even how they implemented a paid subscription for Internet, it was just reverting something good going for nintendo
THANK YOU! Finally, someone else that acknowledges the rare Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle! I have that same bundle and most people have no clue that it even existed. I've seen other TH-camrs talk about all the different Wii-U bundles and almost always, they miss that one. It's also my understanding that bundle was exclusively sold in Wal-Mart. I could be wrong but I only ever saw it sold at Wal-Mart when it released and that's where I purchased mine. LOVE the WiiU console. It's a shame that thing didn't got the proper chance it truly deserved.
I actually found the Wind Waker Wii U at a local secondhand game store last year, and it wasn't any more expensive than the other Wii Us I've seen being sold, so that was a cool grab.
I got my Wii U in August 2015 while on a family road trip to Seattle. I was also big into retro game collecting, so I found my Wii U at a small independent video game store, the name of which I have long forgotten. They had a brand new Wii U Deluxe Set featuring Super Mario 3D World, with a furry U logo on the back to match Mario's cat suit. It didn't have a disc copy of the game, but 3D World and NintendoLand were pre-installed on the console. I still have it to this day, and I plan on holding on to it as there are many Wii U games I have yet to play, or haven't been brought over to the Switch.

Just bought a wii u a few days ago with 5 original games for 80$ and honestly, it is a really great system, Nintendo did put a lot of love making it, what a shame it wasn't successful
Love how Scott can just sit down and passionately talk about his collection for 30 minutes. Only person I’d care to listen to talk about it!
someday i expect a percentage of the wii u's sales to be marked as "Owned by Scott Wozniak" by literally any site that records it
Thank you Scott the Woz for showing us your collection. I wish I could collect as much as you. I still have my Wii U plugged in as well
Same I have a Wii U plugged in, a switch, a ps3, ps5, and an Xbox series x
@@shortstackofpancakes13 I have a GameCube and a mega drive 2 plugged in still
I had a small guess that Zumba Fitness World Party was the last Wii U game he needed because he flat out told me at the TMG 2022 panel
This brings me memories of when I would go to my ex's house and play Wii U with her. We were 13/14 at the time so we were just friends at that time. Nice memories. Thanks :)
I love the second channel so much. It shows that the Scott we see in the videos is so much like what he is, both in and out of character. He’s just a fun person and I’m happy to say I get to know this side of him 💞
This video actually shows how hardcore scott is about collecting this stuff. Love love LOVE it!
The magnum opus of Scott’s collection
I love that Scott talks about each of the Wii U like it was his own children. Just a proud dad showing off his kids
Scott is building up for the WiiU - 10 years in special on November 18th by owning all the WiiU systems and games
That's the 250th episode
@@danieldubrovin8813 At this rate, I don't think he's going to make it in time.
The editing in this makes it feel like a full blown episode.
Love having both main channel and these more laid back videos too. Kinda cool to see Scott not in character as much
I love your videos so much Scott. Things have been rough lately and I’ve been watching all your videos again and their just so wholesome and funny and relatable and creative. You make me laugh out loud. You’re such a funny, charming guy thanks for all the laughs
I'd love it if one day they release it as a mini console
Scott as a collector myself this is a comforting video
You gotta love how Scott the woz is a very special critic, who is watching and counting every mistake. And then there’s Scott from Scott’s stash, who just wants to show why he colecta and love videogames in a very elegant way
It’s a clear example of two sides of a coin
he's not a critic though, even on the main channel
I have 3 Wii U’s and always on the lookout for more. Love this console and it’s going to be a novelty down the road. Really enjoy the handful of games that really take advantage of the game pad. It’s the ideal way to play Wii games on new TVs.
a minute in and i love this new kind of scotts stash videos. keep it coming!
I love how you can just really tell he genuinely likes video games and is passionate about what he is talking about on the second channel
19:12 as far as I'm aware this is the WiiU I have, something interesting about it is that I don't think you need to unlock characters or tracks in it but you do unlock cart pieces.I also like how you have so many, specifically for the boxes and doing nothing about what's inside.
Scott's dedication to the Wii U will always be fun to watch. Thank you for your endless passion, Scott!
Scott's stash with Scott on camera, that's a rarity

Love it!
We thought the Wii U's target demographic was families, but as it turns out it was always just a white man with glasses named Scott.
I love this video. Love listening to Scott talk about Wii U.
It's finally happening guys, we finally moving close enough to scott to see his Wii u collection
Let’s wait on November (probably)
I hope that by then he gets the Zumba game
Im diggin this chill energy discussion episode! I love my Wii U. Got the wind waker one with the gold etching on it. ive been buying for it a lot recently, and its interesting that this was the console that opened the M rated games floodgates a little bit more. Decided to upgrade my gamepad battery to one double the size, which i didnt even know could be switched out! Broke down and modded it too cause I wanted to play a lot of DS games on the TV which the Wii U is perfect for.
Scott has some kind of humor that just gets me. He says like one line, and it's automatically funnier
The Wii U is so underrated. I got my Wind Waker edition day one and I was buzzing for it. Everything about it is unique! Plus it has a great catalogue of games and a great retro catalogue on the eShop. I still love my Wii U. ❤️
Get yourself someone who loves you as much as Scott loves Wii Us...
There is something about Scott love for the wiiu that makes it very special
And I like how even when he's speaking of script hes still hilarious
Off*
He seems like he has a couple drinks in him…
@@jerrystephens9057 I mean if you had to talk about Wii U for half an hour, wouldn't you?
@@xX_dash_Xx why would he have to be drunk to talk about something he actually likes? I get your attempt to shoehorn a dumbass joke in there but make sense.
Yes Scott. I was impressed you knew that.
If you ask me, this will always be Scott's main channel, I love it.
Execellent information in this video about the Wii U variants. First time hearing about a deluxe 32GB white edition, nifty.
i remember begging my mom to get that mario maker bundle so much when i was younger and fortunately they did get it for me and my siblings and i still have that mario amiibo, it's such a good looking figure
I myself have two Wii U consoles and the complete North American Wii U game library. We both are going places. Great video man 👍
I always thought the Wii U was the best way to play Wii games if you don't have an SD TV, although playing on the gamepad is cool.
This channel is genuinely amazing and underrated compared to your main.
I'm not even partway through the video and am wondering why the hell Nintendo didn't have this much fun with Switch boxes for all their major releases.
After wii u, Nintendo became a shell of its former self and lost any creative and unique branding outside of the switch 'gimmick'.
It's a shame that thing didn't got the proper chance it truly deserved.
this man has more dedication to the Wii U than Nintendo
You collect Wii U's like I collect Gameboy advance/ Gameboy Advance SP's. I respect that.
The only thing I took out of this is that Scott owns a really cool display turntable now.
I actually found the Wind Waker Wii U at a local secondhand game store last year, and it wasn't any more expensive than the other Wii Us I've seen being sold, so that was a cool grab.
It's so nice seeing Scott just go on a rant about stuff he likes rather than his usually scripted videos, those are still nice though.
Scott the Woz in the special edition consoles video: I'd like to see someone collect all special edition wii u boxes
Scott now: Fine, I'll do it myself
As a Wii U enjoyer myself, I've been waiting for this day
People have always said 10 people bought a Wii U. Now, we all realize the truth. Only 1 person did.
I can tell the Wii U is the console that scott is the most passionate about. I know the gamecube is his favorite console, (it's mine too) but I see scott more obsessed with the Wii U and how it was Utilized.
And with saying that he just needs Zumba, he has sealed his fate with the only game he will get next year at TMG
I have been waiting for this episode since the beginning, thank u scott💜
