I have a clear memory of moving with my first cat in the 1950s. We set off in the car to the new house with the cat on my mother's lap. There was an 'old wives' tale at the time that if you put butter on their paws, they wouldn't run away. The cat duly buttered was allowed to go out immediately on arrival at our new house. He didn't run away but I can't say if the butter had any influence on his decision to stick with us.
I'm moving soon myself. I'm taking most of my furniture with me, and all my area rugs are coming along, and all my clothes and linens. So I'm hoping that all the stuff marked with her scent already will help. And when I first adopted her and brought her home, she adjusted quickly. I was all ready to have to give her a few days to feel safe enough around me and her new surroundings, but she bolted right out of her carrier and explored the whole place. And she was nuzzling me for attention within like half an hour and curled up on my bed with me that night.
I came here because I wanted to say that this channel is very helpful, and it helps me care for my kitten called Aura! If I ever move, this would be very helpful so I can take care of my 3 cats, especially Aura. Thank you for creating this channel and all the tips, it really helps!
I had a bit of a rough move with the cats just now. I feel bad because I didn't handle it the way you did. Don't know what to do. They are in a safe room just looking around and meowing a lot.
I’m moving soon and afraid for my cat. She was born and raised here and is very happy. I’ve taken her to new places to visit family and she always does fine. The first time I took her to my dads she curled up in the recliner and went to sleep over there. But I’m afraid if she gets lose outside she will freak out. She goes outside all she wants here
Im going to collage and we have a house with garden here but in city we proablly don't even have a balcony and ı have to take her with me what should ı do to make her comfy there? Putting alot of plants ln the house?
i just got a cat, had it for half a day then when i was getting my washing in and had to open the patio window it rushed out and escaped, havent seen it for over a day now.
I have 2 cats and they are basically best friend but now they are hating each other for some reason (we had to move out but we dont knew they would be so mad at each other)

There's literally not a single video on youtube about moving a cat that grew up in the city to the woods 5 years later

What if your cat pees in your house a lot. How do you get them to not pee in your new house?
Check out www.cats.org.uk/toileting for some advice on this :)
@@catsprotection Lol, thanks for the link, even I used it because my 2nd cat, Monica, always pees on the front door mat.
