      Hiya Pat 👋🏻 certainly gave me a thirst for it all! I think as we take a liking to the outdoors or any other interest we often think about the origins of that drive that leaves us wanting more eh? For me it is multi-faceted and when it all boils down to it I simply love setting up camp and having time to myself in this busy world, what ever the weather. I’m glad that you will be out again soon and hope that you enjoy after your break, I hike that you are rewarded with our Bea Oeak District scenery and the smell of field cooked food once again 😊ATB, Sarah

      Thank you Craig, musing more out loud these days, good job I could edit it all there was so much more that I ‘discussed’ with myself then I could fit comfortably into this! Camping is very thought provoking for me and more of a sensory and spiritual experience than I think people realise…it’s the witch in me ✨

    Interesting hearing your story! I’ve found a huge number of wild campers are former military. Often coming back to it for the nostalgia or sadly too commonly as a way to help with mental health issues.

    I remember in the Army -10 tucked down the bottom of my sleeping bag clutching my SA80 for warmth, they attacked us, on exercise, so I stuck my arms out put it in automatic and emptied my magazine in the air, then crawled back to the bottom of my sleeping bag. I’ve also gone from that to looking after tiny babies having open heart surgery. Love the stories, keep um coming. Ps The BFA only stops the gasses having someone’s eye out, if you fired a live round through it, it wouldn’t end well.

    Nice to get some background...and not just background noise 😉 (Definitely keep talking)
    I think any military training is a solid base for anyone to begin their adult life. Not only does it teach essential personal skills but it toughens the mind and body.
    I've got a load of "comedy" tales from my basic training and further time in the RAF. Some things tgat seemed so dramatic at the time, are actually just part of the character building process.
    BFA, I think was fitted to mimic the back pressure normally generated by live round. The working parts rely on that back pressure to push back and reload the next round... without an actual round travelling along the barrel, there is nothing to hold the pressure. The BFA puts a choke accross the muzzle, slowing down the escaping gas, just enough to push the working parts back, so your next round is loaded. There you go... today's nerdy fact 😁🤣
    Take care mate...keep em coming

      Eh up! That’s awesome thanks for the explanation! I’m sure 20 years ago this very explanation was given to me but because I no longer fire one I just call it the yellow thing 😂 of course a very technical term. I leave the big words and technicalities to my day job where I still have to wear my NHS issue uniform 👶 it’s like another language that we use in Midwifery so ya know what it’s lovely to just be myself and let my conversations flow naturally as I sit there in the tent or I’m walking up a hill, staring into space 😆 thanks for stopping by on this one, I love it when your comments ping on my phone. 📱 ATB, Sarah

    Interesting to listen to part of your life instead of hearing about kit on other channels. My tent has done me for about 1000 nights I reckon in 34 years!! I probably could do with another!! I got started with outdoors at school. Our games teacher took us to Scotland (my first time) to Sutherland and we had a week around Lochinver. I did my ML training early 90’s in the only place in the country that was on a night school basis. Went to uni in Edinburgh somewhat late at 22. OTC, got my HGV and passed my UEL (and ML assessment) out of it. Nearly went to Sandhurst. Had a ball in Scotland for 4 years up in the Cairngorms in winter. Had some epic adventures and close calls too
    Keeping thinking I should start videos of my adventures but not sure I can be bothered with the editing!!
    Keep up the good work and time you put into your content 😊

    This old former Skill-At-Arms instructor (amongst lots of other qualifications I picked up in the TA) was just triggered by your lack of understanding of what a BFA is for -- DOH -- lol. It's certainly NOT to stop live rounds. Didn't realise you were former OTC. Oh what fun I'm going to have now 🤣...... Being in the Forces does lend itself to giving you lots of opportunities, to travel, to broaden horizons/skillset but mainly in getting hammered 🍺🍺🍺. Back in the day we must have been amongst the fittest alcoholics on the planet. Due to me meeting a certain individual and his landlord, I ended up doing a spell of Alpine climbing one summer. That was an awesome experience. Another (Officer) helped organise a trekking trip across Mexico the following year. Good times.
    On a serious note, It's had a massive hand in shaping who I am today. My TA employment has given me that extra talking point on my CV that help's you edge in front of the other candidates when you go for a new job. I have more great memories from my time in the cheap green suit than anyone could wish for. That experience pushed me further than I'd ever dreamed I could manage.

    • @SoloSarahBX
      @SoloSarahBX  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      😂😂😂😂😂I knew I’d spin the ex army out with my BFA chat, I couldn’t even remember the damn name of it or its use 😂 I just know that when was cleaning the rifle and putting it all back together making it safe it would always be in and be inspected by the officers. I know that when I was firing live rounds on the range it definitely wasn’t on 😂 💀 or I would actually be dead. Love reading your comments Andy, everyone has a back storey and but if beef about them. Fittest alcoholics is a very good way to categorise us…oh and then there were the drinks in the officers mess and the regimental dinners…how the other half lived sprang to mind. Port teeth 🦷 😂

      @SB-sj4uz 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I took my Mum (RIP) and Dad to the last summer ball I was eligible to attend still got the photos of us all done up, me in my Mess uniform and them in there posh evening attire. Hi Sarah. I love your channel and yoor passion. I did 8 years in the regular army myself, once upon a time. May I very kindly correct you on one thing. The BFA, is a Blank Firing Attachment, Not Adapter. Sorry to sound picky, but I believe that you'd rather me correct you, rather than nobody say anything and maybe you feel a little silly at some point in the future. That said, I'm glad you experienced a partial military environment when you was younger, and that it didn't put you off, being surrounded by many fellas. Its a please to watch someone else from sheffield and yorkshire that loves getting outdoors. May I wish you all the best with your channel, and I look forward to seeing your future videos 😊.

      @SoloSarahBX just been watching another of your videos. Your chat while you was in the tent is so natural. You are a real thinker, just like me. Have you read 'The Power of Now' by Ekhart Tolle, just a heads up as I'm a real thinker too. Trying to find the meaning of life is an awesome journey. I'm visually impaired so life is a little more challenging for me in certain aspects of life, but the challenge is awesome. Positives out of negatives right 🙂

    Hi Sarah,
    I had to Google ASMR as well, it’s an education! 😀Thanks for sharing that part of your life with us. Think I mentioned once before but I have now watched and listened to you for probably seven or so hours and so feel that I know you. Of course from your point of view I’m just some anonymous random punter who you are never really likely to meet, I could be anybody🐒, must be a bit strange having all these anonymous fans communicating with you. Anyway I’m glad the message got through loud and clear about nonverbal videos, just look at your snowy video currently 8,018 views👏👏. I know you have said you don’t do it for that reason but you must be a bit proud. You mentioned ceramics, my second cousin Amanda did that degree, and then went on to have her own studio. Her dad used to moan how much it cost him to buy and run a kiln,, did you ever get that far? Now a SarahB addict I find myself trying to guess your shift pattern so I can best guess when the next video might be out, now counting down the time to the next one⏱.
    Cheers for now
    Graham

      Ha ha! Yes I never dis start a channel for the reasons you stated but what a beautiful consequence. It takes time to reply but I make it and I can afford the time too. It is very uplifting so thank you Graham. I have had the odd comment on social media but I have a thick skin and I am proud of who I am so it doesn’t bother me. Anyway I have my supporters as guardians now, even when I’m solo you are all still with me 😊like characters from a book 📕 don’t try and work out my shift pattern because it’s diabolical…there’s no pattern! See ya ont’ next un’

      Just a small snippet 😅 it’s the kind of stuff I ponder when I’m alone, such as, what brought me here? What motivated me and where did it start? Who’s influenced me? I love reflecting, it’s part of my professional life too and I do reflect on everything 😂 I guess my thirst for understanding things leads my conversations and I find that as interesting as I do finding out about other people 👌🏻ATB, Sarah
