It's a shame that you have to explain your situation to the naysayers out there. You are smart not to go heavily into debt to get the house done. Fix up as you have the cash. That's smart. I like your story and what you want to do. I hope you get more subs and sponsors. Best wishes!
🎯 totally right. I was watching another channel where a woman and her husband/children were developing a homestead. They had like 80 acres. I guess she got the “are you rich” question a lot so she too answered. They were totally middle class. Met in their early 20’s, saved, had kids, got a small inheritance from her grandmother etc. etc. Basically she told the viewers they were able to buy the land outright but we’re borrowing money from the bank to develop the homestead with land as collateral………… well…….. by reading the comments you’d have thought they were flying around in private jets and hiring baby tigers as arm candy. What followed was an insight into the victimization mentality where literally nobody should have anything and nobody deserves anything because there’s people with less. Ex: “well from where I’m sitting in my rented apartment, you’re rich” “I live with 5 people to pay rent” “I live in my 2010 camper van” “I have it worse than you, I live in a 2001 Toyota” it’s like people were f--ing jealous and resentful that this nice couple who stayed in school, earned a trade/skill, worked hard, managed their money, saved, had a vision etc. should feel bad because “they had ‘so much’ and others had less.” After reading that I realize that the best things these sailing, home Reno, homesteading etc. channels can do is just tell viewers some generic “we’re not rich, if we were we’d have a hell of a lot more tradesmen building our house etc.”. The whole thing was ridiculous.
I’m jumping on the “Go Slow” bandwagon!! Those viewers who like and agree with your mindset will stick around for the long haul! I like your “snippets” or shirts on TH-cam .. soo cute!! Not going into debt to complete your renovations is a wise idea in these unstable economic times. Keep up the great work!!
I think you guys have a beautiful family, and renovating that old building is just the coolest idea! I'm here for the long haul, slow and steady wins the race!
Intelligent people realise this isn't a 30 minute fixer-upper TV episode and this is the reality of creating your dream home. Well done to you both, what you have done already is amazing! Good luck to you and your lovely family 👪 👍🏡
You have taken on a monumental task. You are doing it for all the right reasons. I don't know where you are earning the money but, I am praying for you to be able to make it happen. Your children will remember it forever. Maybe in good ways and maybe not but, you are building a legacy and I'm greatful to be allowed to see it. Thank you. I'm looking forward to seeing it done. I'm patient enough to wait. Just don't want to.
I just found you guys but my husband and I can totally relate! Our move was to 5 acres of blackberry brambles and woods with not even a road into it. Our surprise discovery was a farmers dump buried and grown into the brambles! It's taken 7 years but we have a barn and 40 year old double wide we're renovating on cash to keep taxes down. The thing I miss the most is entertaining folks. But going debt free is definitely worth any sacrifice! Hang in there! Your place is so beautiful ❤️! When your kids grow up they can came visit and have an entire wing! Lol
I admire your determination. One day you will look back on this and it will have been a big learning experience. Best of luck to you and your family in your endeavors.
As some who is currently doing this with my own home with my spouse, we are 3yrs into it. The bathroom is still being done and the kitchen is underway, we do what we can when we have the money to and do alil bit each day off, I totally understand about taking it slow
I’m happy that you guys are smart not to get into debt for house renovations. I think those hardware companies or business can help in sponsoring in exchange of advertising them? But, will continue to tune in and of course celebrate your family’s success as you progress the project to completion. 🙂
I think that this is an awesome project that you guys have selected to do. On elder building that you may be trying to renovate there are lots of things that have to be, major things that have to be changed. Set your own gold go for the things that are the most important at the time. The people that are negative ignore that.. always better to have your dreams than get older and not have dreamed at all. My uncle had a project just like this in an old building downtown in the small place that we grew up. It turned out fantastic and he did it after his retirement. Follow your heart at your own pace . BLESSINGS!!
Ur doing a fantastic job as I have said b4. Don't mind what negative people are saying. Keep doing what ur doing at ur own pace as the Lord is blessing u to do. I love watching u guys!! ❤❤
I have a balding . 1923 . I don’t want to take any loan to finish out so I do the same. Little at a time. It’s no rush. Enjoy the journey and finish as the ideas become whole is what I do. But if I took a loan I’d be obligated to finish somethings on a time schedule regardless if I was at peace with the design idea or not. Plus I need to have my hands in every phase in some way. Contractors prefer owner be away. I’m not happy that way. So finding a contractor who allows me to be in there , getting dirty with them is not easy. It may be 10 years before I’m completely done.
Don't worry, no one is expecting an overnight result! Except for people who have never done any type of home improvement. Those of us who understand reality, understand the magnitude of this project. You are doing it right by not going into debt for this. That would be a mistake.
Going slow gives you the opportunity to make sure the small details are exactly how you want them. There is nothing worse than needing to make changes after completing a project. That would be costly and discouraging!
I am curious why you are trying to finish the master bedroom before making your kids rooms 🤷🏼♀️ I know, I, as a parent have always made sure my kids were set up first. I don't want to sound mean or judgemental so I would love it if you would enlighten me ❤️
Those of us who are logical understand this is a journey! Take your time and thank you for including us in your process.
Thanks Anthony!
You are very rich. You have each other, beautiful children and you’ll have a lovely home for your family. God Bless
As a builder of 35 years just take your time and finish one thing at a time 👍 5 year goals is the norm on projects like yours
Great advice!
Very special keeping this in the family!!!

Thanks for your encouragement! We are glad to have you! :)
In this social media age we live in, ppl expect instant.
But real life isn’t that way
Slow& steady wins the race. You guys are doing great!!
Yes!

Yes, I think some people are expecting a 30 minute episode 😅 - That's not gonna happen here as nice as it would be!

Don't over do it. Don't want to hurt yourself. But you'll get there. God Bless you and your family.
Thank you!
As far as the channel: try some collabs. Maybe Dude Dad or home reno channels. They could help you with projects and expanding your viewership
Thanks for the idea!

This is very exciting! My kids recently purchased a building downtown and plan to eventually live in it.

Where do you guys "live" while the bedrooms and (master) bath are being worked on?
Subbed and will like your videos to help the channel. I want to see the finish home. 😊
@HGTV needs to get ahold of yalls story!!
Ignore the haters!
Love your story! Are you saying that commenting will help your channel?
