Johnny Gat. Why in the hell would I support AMD when their products at the time were inferior? That is like saying take the bus to support the terrible transit system that will take two hours longer instead of taking your car. Give me a break.
nope, too expensive. Unless the hashrate is 4xs what they get at lower than 4xs the cost of the cards they normally use. if so, then yeah, theyll fill one rig with 4 of these in VMs instead of 4 rigs with 16 gaming GPUs. Depends on the math. Then youll see a shortage of 1200w+ PSUs lmao
great video guys. I'm waiting on thread ripper to come out before deciding my new home build , but I'm definitely eye balling the heck out of that FE. I do Autocad with database architectural software add on that draws our case work and such. The software draws the cabinets and such in 3d models that can be used to generate g code and nests for CNC machining. We had an older i7 and older nvidia to start out with. I upgraded that to the newer 7700k and 1070 gtx, and man what bummer that has been. We do a lot of big hospitals and other large buildings and that intel system does great but when I get half way through a job and towards the end, and it's just a tooth and nail fight to keep up productivity. It was nice to see you ask the same questions I have with these high end pro cards. It's very difficult for me to determine what is doing what as it relates to: is my cpu handling this and is getting bogged down or is it the video card? I put 64 gigs of system ram on the new build at work but it hasn't helped in the slightest. When I'm in 2d wire frame on a plan view and grab and try to rotate the model, it just bogs down hard core. I'm hoping it's a GPU thing and the VEGA will help in this instance. So it was nice seeings the variety cases of Omar showing off different aspects like open gl or straight rendering etc. My other big bottle neck is when I go into layout mode in auto cad, and my current system again just comes to a crawl when in layouts. I hope this is a GPU issue too. I've for t he life of me haven't been able to find a straight answer from autodesk on this at all, but I hope vega will improve that aspect of my work too. My big question and you guys came so close to answering it is this. I want to kick a lot of ass for 8 hours on this thing as I work. But when I'm done with work I want to kick ass on the same rig at gaming too. (as well as my aging self can do. I can't keep up with kids anymore) If I have a system with an FE card in it, can I put an RX in another pci slot? So I guess what I want to know is can I switch from one card to another without swapping cards based on whether or not I'm working or gaming. The other thing to is how compatible if at all can a FE and RX be for cross fire or what not. I wouldn't expect them too, but would be pleasantly surprised if they can run together and work together. Probably the only bummer I have with this video is that I wish they did the bench marks against quadro instead of titan. =( But I imagine that is coming soon. If this card can save me 30 minutes or more a day in work it's an easy buy for me. My only worries is that will autodesk support it? I do know they have some of the fire pro(older amd pro cards), so that is promising. It's scary though for sure throwing down some cash not knowing 100% if it's the right call or not. Great videos guys keep up the great work!
If VEGA Frontier is a professional card, this comparison is like comparing a Quadro to GTX. We all know that gaming cards are not made to perform well in engineering applications (solidworks, catia, etc). Even with same price point quadro will perform better in engineering applications. Because of this they cannot use SPECviewperf to compare these to cards. They should have used a quadro with similar price to compare with the Vega Frontier. As a AMD fan I feel bit disappointed.
Radeon Pro Vega Cards(WX) will have special drivers 20:10 over Frontier Edition and they will be competitor to Quadros. RX---> Geforce Frontier---> Titan Radeon Pro(20:10)---->Quadros Instinct--->Tesla
What's funny is that this card gets beaten by a Quadro P4000 in the professional benchmarks, a card that costs 2/3rds the price and consumes 1/3rd the power and has 40% the TFlops
TheHalfGlassFullGuy That's what these guys don't understand comparing workstation cards with gaming cards in professional applications is like comparing apples to oranges!
Just so you know, there is no way that RX Vega is going to compete with Geforce, just doing a basic calculation can tell you that the Top of the Line RX Vega cannot even come close to a Titan Xp. Same goes with Instinct to Tesla, especially with the release of V100.
MrSamadolfo Nvidia already launched their mining cards. $200 gets you GP106 6GB, and $350 for full GP104. So basically $200 for a 6GB 1060 that doesn't have any display ports, and $350 for a GTX 1080 without display ports. I hope some Chinese company finds a way to flash the cards and put display ports on them. $400 for a AIB 1080 would be nice. Or hopefully $400 cut vega is just as good
It's actually my understanding that the marketplace as a whole for HBM2 modules is kind of fucked, they apparently always have shit yields when they manufacture a new architecture. This is apparently why the Vega cards aren't out already, they apparently would've launched closer to the Nvidia 10-series line-up but they couldn't acquire the new memory modules (which is also the reason why we saw GDDR5x instead of HBM2 on the Nvidia cards). I wouldn't expect there to be an abundance of these Vega cards simply because of the lack of available memory manufacturers. We're not going to have a high volume of cards with HBM2 in the marketplace until 2018, likely not even until the second half of the year too. HBM2 and Nand Flash shortages are fucking up the market right now.
Also, the TDP on these new Vega cards is so damn high that I don't really think it'll be advantageous to use them for mining, the return on investment for mining wouldn't justify the cost of energy with the high power draw on the gpu's, ironically this would make the Nvidia cards better for mining which is funny because the reason people currently buy AMD gpu's for mining is because they're cheap and the TDP on the new cards is so high that it could offset the convenience of cost factor.
Jesus Christ, This Guy just don't get it does he ? the AMD guy told him multiple times that vega FE isn't for Gaming, Just wait for the damn Rx Vegas for gaming .
The benchmark for Viewperf shown was for an earlier run. The run that was happening in real time during the video seems to show the Vega FE card (RH screen) lagging behind the Titan card (LH screen), and it is stopped before the earlier benchmark is shown, or am I seeing this wrong?
I doubt that. They use their best silicon for this card so their operating temperature will be lower. The gaming version is different story since they dont use their best silicon so how hot your card will be determined by the silicon lottery, unless they release XFR version which take all best silicon and sell it at premium price.
This thing is very simple , blue for professional , yellow for server AI . Blue + Yello = Hybrid . For those small enterprise , who absolutely no enough money like alibaba or google but want to purchase workstation grade GPU . AMD got higher margin from them than gamers , and those big giant Cloud provider wont buy those small amount GPU anyway , so wont effect other market which MI25 aim at .
Nisco Racing they didn't release anything about Rx Vega so I have no idea but it seems likely the red theme is right for gaming not sure about combo with black . but this time we will see aib partner coming out Vega with better cooler solution than reference for sure unlike fury cards .
Why not compare the Vega with Quadro cards? As he said, the Vega cards aren't to be used if you want to play, so why would you compare it with the Titan XP...?
+Bajan Art If you wrote the sentence like this. "Can somebody tell me full name of that 8K Dell's monitor?" Google would have gave you the result, good luck.
can this be done with still some convenience with other GPUs? I have access to computers with Quadro M4000's or a GTX 970, as well as a Oculus rift. I also have Solidworks. is this doable, or do I need vega only software?
I have a Vega 64 that I got for 350 dollars in October 2018 because the seller didn't know the difference between that and Vega 56. It was not a bad deal despite being somewhat used. I think Vega FE has very similar performance. Vega 64 is already capable of doing a lot of manufacturing design and professional stuff but is limited in popular 3d rendering applications and engines due to lack of support for OpenCL. The only thing Frontier has going for it is the double the RAM amount, the drivers aren't all that much better in applications like VRay 2018 that don't like OpenCL to begin with.
Saying Radeon Vega Frontier Edition is not for gaming target consumers. Is same as saying. Gaming GPU's are not for mining purpose. Let's be straight here, a GPU that performance very good in 3D graphics programs can be purposed for BOTH. AKA: "Professional" is just a buzz word.
Because why fucking not lol.... These days if something dosnt have a duel bios i dont really want to buy it..... And yes im that one guy who was updating bios when the power cut out.... Had to buy a new board... NEVER AGAIN lmao
Do you not have to update bios for pro cards? i thought espessiaclly at that price point it would be an almost must have feature incase the user manages to screw something up, or a bad spot of luck like me
I admit i don't understand how these cards work. But if that AMD card is running faster. Car spinning faster. Then why do the renders finish at the same time? Or before for the Titan? What am i not understanding
In the rendering the left screen kind of leaped ahead of the right screen? Looking forward to see what NVidia can do with the gddr6 (make use of the high bandwith), hbm2 just seems to be a gimmick because gddr5 seems to be able to hold its own against hbm and hbm2

Too much talking. Show the benchmarks and then start talking. Also, you can tell that Vega is powerful by what it did to that guys eyes. AMD EYEFINITY!!!
So in terms of product placement, this card is a direct replacement to the Pro Duo, right? In that regard, the Vega is actually a solid deal I think. My R9 Fury non x at Cinebench 15 opengl benchmark = 165fps......unfortunately this video doesnt tell me anything about performance unless the titan xp and vega are considerably slower than my 2 year graphics card.
That is gaming OpenGL performance not pro-consumer performance, how good is your R9 Rury at 16bit compute? What about streaming data on and off the card how does that compare?
don't wait man, just get whatever the best deal is today, look ahead to make sure nothing is coming out in a month or so because that can piss you off but other than that, just buy and be happy. There is always something amazing coming in tech.
if the fps were anything special they'd be leaked already. i predict rx vega to be 3% faster than a regular 1080...which is kinda bad considering how long it's taking amd to release this thing.
I can understand why you did this video, but it is much more difficult to understand why the AMD reps. have compared the AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition vs the Titan XP (Basically the best gaming GPU) if this is not the GPU it is being marketed against. Why is it not going against the NVIDIA Quadro P6000 the top workstation GPU. Why wasn't that question even asked?
El Diablo but dam if rx vega is even under 800 miners will buy it I was reading forums with a shit ton of miners so I guess preordering might be the only way unless they preorder them all themselves
Mike Crapse it won't be profitable by the time this is released, or at least not profitable enough for most of them to justify the upgrade from polaris
Q (th-cam.com/video/D5GcpYA7_wY/w-d-xo.htmlm6s): "Is this a good deal?" me: Hell yes this is a good deal; I've previously had to pay 3 times that to get similar performance!
"This isn't targeted to ward gamers" You can't tell the PC Master Race what to do
Johnny Gat , you said what I think , totally agree
you are one of those who buy intel extreme edition cpus for gaming arent you?
Johnny Gat Finally someone that understands!!!
Johnny Gat. Why in the hell would I support AMD when their products at the time were inferior? That is like saying take the bus to support the terrible transit system that will take two hours longer instead of taking your car. Give me a break.
your taste in waifus is shit
Thanks Jen Hsun Huang for taking some of your time to come and present an AMD card XD

Damn miners will ruin this too smh
The memory architecture will definitely be very helpful in this regard

That would be great 😍

That wraith max cooler is so nice I wish cooler master just sold them if they make them might as well sell them
that computer guy with dark blue shirt sounds like kronovi of rocket league.....😂
Dat look tho th-cam.com/video/D5GcpYA7_wY/w-d-xo.htmlm1s
The AMD guys have been really careful with everything they say during this interview..
Jesus Christ, This Guy just don't get it does he ? the AMD guy told him multiple times that vega FE isn't for Gaming, Just wait for the damn Rx Vegas for gaming .
Everything is about gaming for Gordon it seems - if you've watched any other episode. Drove me nuts with the gaming questions in this "review" video.
Nvidia says that Titan Xp isnt for gaming... AMD is doing the same
But I thought AMD had 2 of these cards running Prey recently??? 🤔
MrSamadolfo it does gaming too very well, but RX Vega is even slightly faster in gaming and also is going to be alot cheaper
ok sounds good 😍
challenge: Take a shot everytime he says visualization
What's that mini case and where is it's PSU?
how would the Vega Frontier Edition work for Ethereum Mining ?
The benchmark for Viewperf shown was for an earlier run. The run that was happening in real time during the video seems to show the Vega FE card (RH screen) lagging behind the Titan card (LH screen), and it is stopped before the earlier benchmark is shown, or am I seeing this wrong?
damn that VEGA card looks sexy as fuck
AMD stepped up their game obviously
300watt tdp, that stock cooler gonna melt

300watts is no problem for a good cooler. Fucking 1080ti uses 275w without the OC
847,628 views The wattage is higher because it has more "Peak compute" than 1080ti
What is the rig you are using with the vega? Im starting a trucking business and need a CAD capable computer for renderings.

Black and Red is for gaming?
And do they have more colors going?
Nisco Racing they didn't release anything about Rx Vega so I have no idea but it seems likely the red theme is right for gaming not sure about combo with black . but this time we will see aib partner coming out Vega with better cooler solution than reference for sure unlike fury cards .
+YUJUN CUI
Well they had the Black and Red theme going on the VEGA GPU at CES 2017.
Very high chance that the colors scheme will stay the same.
Why not compare the Vega with Quadro cards? As he said, the Vega cards aren't to be used if you want to play, so why would you compare it with the Titan XP...?
18:30 Funny reaction. He's like "give the correct answer".
The AMD person said Sigraf the LAUNCH EVENT! :D
RX Vega will finally launch?!
Hope so..
SiGGRAPH ASIA PROBABLY!!!!
Can somebody tell me full name of that Dell's monitor? 04:03

Why would a pro card need dual bios?
In case the user fuck it up during the setup. This feature exist on RX 570 and its just stupid not to include it on $1100 Vega.
Because updating the Bios could brick it 🤗

The real question how well does it mine ethereum?
Cooper_TheGeekery hope it dosen't
Panda Boy, Amen.
How is the future of ethereum? I can't predict this 30 days in advance. Therefore it's not different from horse betting
tested a benchmark in openCL radeon has generally outperformed nvidia at openCL tasks, bit of a specific use case?
its openGL you noob.
I admit i don't understand how these cards work. But if that AMD card is running faster. Car spinning faster. Then why do the renders finish at the same time? Or before for the Titan? What am i not understanding
Gonna be picking buzzwords out of my hair for a month.
yeah, they democratized buzzwords to the limit
In the rendering the left screen kind of leaped ahead of the right screen? Looking forward to see what NVidia can do with the gddr6 (make use of the high bandwith), hbm2 just seems to be a gimmick because gddr5 seems to be able to hold its own against hbm and hbm2
can this support 5 monitor? do I need to use any adaptor? I saw 4 slots. 3 display port and 1 hmdi. can I use them all together and I get 4 monitors?
It's technically not for gaming, but if it's got the same GPU architecture then the performance will be comparable to the RX Vega.
It's the same thing with the Quadro P6000 which uses GP102, and actually performs slightly better than the old Titan X which is also GP102. So their Cinebench test is actually a very good representation of what the performance of RX Vega is going to be, and might even be lower than reality due to the cooling solution.
I used to think Vega wasn't going to compete with the XPp and Ti, but that Cinebench run, even if it's a synthetic, has got me thinking otherwise.

Sweet! This actually looks awesome!
Quite good video, awesome!
"This isn't targeted to ward gamers" You can't tell were PC Master Race looks at!
This was definitely a worth while video.
Using DOOM and Sniper Elite to test AMD versus Nvidia is ridiculous considering both of them give AMD at least a 15-20% advantage
I'd really like to see that heatsink inside.
How is the professional driver from the linux side of things?
should be good , amd typicaly open source all of their linux driver sets.
but how many MH/s?
Then wouldn't it be more of a new replacement for the "Fire Pro" series of workbench cards?
whats is frontier edition? = founders edition??
Too much talking. Show the benchmarks and then start talking.
Also, you can tell that Vega is powerful by what it did to that guys eyes. AMD EYEFINITY!!!
Why is the AMD car blue?
we need some mid range cards 😩
Love the Big Lebowski shirt brother!!!
No world would like to see what just saw. God, 30% more for same price. That power consumption a little bit worry me, but life is life.
I missed the part about video editing and rendering speed.
what is sigref or something he says?
LUXURY IT LOOKS , LOVE IT THE DESIGN
what mobo are they using?
no ethereum benchmark?
Geez, AMD started out hard they ran every benchmark this guy wanted. I doubt Nvidia would ever do it.
their faces when Gordon mentions Skylake X
So in terms of product placement, this card is a direct replacement to the Pro Duo, right?
In that regard, the Vega is actually a solid deal I think. It is a single GPU, so no fiddeling around with multi-gpu stuff.
Less power consumption and higher performance.
I still think that the market shifted a lot since then and in todays market Vega FE looks kinda odd, to be honest.
Or I dont understand the placement and what is being needed in these segments.
Going from some reviews, Vega FE is a hit and miss, with TitanXP beating Vega overall, while consuming less power.
I cannot wrap my head around this thing...
So it's beating a titan Xp in an Open GL benchmark?
they should have a vbios level thing that makes radeon cards suck at mining so that the damn miners stop stealing them all.
I still don't get how the Titan xp is for profesional use but still dorks the real support fp32 at all
so if you want to build a game buy this:) its in all in one design studio
Saying it's not for gaming isn't the best thing to tell consumers right now, even if it's an industry standard.
They don't want gamers to go out and buy them and cause a supply shortage for corporate customers, now is exactly when they should be saying that.
All I heard this video:"Absolutely"
120 FPS in Cinebench? I get 120 with my Ryzen 7 1700 and an RX470
+John B I know that but that 1080Ti got 109
doesn't Titan xp use less power than this?
their competitors are the quadro cards at 5k usd, not titans.
FPS ?
vr cad?! omg i didn't think about that. That could diminish the number of clay models down to only aero testing.
Will it run minesweeper at 30fps?
Not trying to be rude but that dude knows he can use a 3DS with 3D on for a few months to straighten his eyes right?
Either way Vega is here!!!
Why amd not build gpu for contending gtx 1080/ti
it's really funny whenever a new product comes out and performs worse than an older one
Careful man, there's a *gamer* here!
I guess the gold liquid cooled version was bought by no one because there's no trace of anyone having one, lol.

I have waited, what seems like a millennia for Vega.
My patience is getting thinner by the day.
And they are only going to be "talking about it" at Siggraph...
Which is probably their way of saying we'll get the release date :P
Siggraph is the official launch for the RX Vega.
Yep, July 30th, but people these days dont read or listen, they just bitch until they get their way. :D
don't wait man, just get whatever the best deal is today, look ahead to make sure nothing is coming out in a month or so because that can piss you off but other than that, just buy and be happy. There is always something amazing coming in tech.
Hello Amd can you please send a card to linus? We wants more
if the fps were anything special they'd be leaked already.
i predict rx vega to be 3% faster than a regular 1080...which is kinda bad considering how long it's taking amd to release this thing.
I wonder if it can handle 8k gaming.
time to bring back my phenom ii x3 and 5870 to play early dx11 games.
Man, if that was Linus handling that card, he would have dropped it already. Lol.
Can't wait to get it for CS:GO.
Still will lower settings to Low to get as much FPS as possible!
1700x and vega card is my next gaming pc i dont give a fuck!
what about your wallet?
I can understand why you did this video, but it is much more difficult to understand why the AMD reps. have compared the AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition vs the Titan XP (Basically the best gaming GPU) if this is not the GPU it is being marketed against. Why is it not going against the NVIDIA Quadro P6000 the top workstation GPU. Why wasn't that question even asked?
but what about mining? :3
F off, scrub. You bought all the Polaris, leave something for us sometimes!
El Diablo but dam if rx vega is even under 800 miners will buy it I was reading forums with a shit ton of miners so I guess preordering might be the only way unless they preorder them all themselves
don't worry crypto currencies crashed and all these ppl invested into miners then bitcoin/ ethereum dropped 30%
STGxDante still profitable to mine eth
Mike Crapse it won't be profitable by the time this is released, or at least not profitable enough for most of them to justify the upgrade from polaris
VEGA FRONTIER has GEOMETRIC SHADER?
He seems a tad uncomfortable with you waving that card about like that..
can u crossfire it?
Yeah im going to buy 2 of these and game on them
Asian dude with glasses:Wait can you tell us what color rx vega is going to be🙏🏼? Amd guy:I can't tell you that. Asian dude with glasses:Ahhhh
between the attire and attitude, you can tell it's definitely marketing to an engineering type audience.
Yeah, i don't know why gamers are butthurt even though i myself am gamer and seek info in this section particularly.
Was it $100 or $1000?
Is that Nvidia CEO without his leather jacket?.
rofl.
Q (th-cam.com/video/D5GcpYA7_wY/w-d-xo.htmlm6s): "Is this a good deal?" me: Hell yes this is a good deal; I've previously had to pay 3 times that to get similar performance!
I like! Keep it up!
Love the blue and gold!
Damnit man my build time is approaching, so many goodies to choose from...FUCK!!!
