I recently started a Khajiit Huntress character. I naturally gravitated to Falkreath. I have to say it is definitely a region I didn't really explore in the past. It's crazy how this 10 year old game keeps showing me new things.
Whats weird for me is that I always think I know Falkreath Hold fairly well, and then I go actually wander around and immediately realize Im familiar with Lake Illinalta only, and rarely venture further into Falkreath than that.
@@dillongage the one reason I don’t like it is purely because of all the surrounding mountains that make B lining to my destination impossible. I like it for its house. Same problem with Markarth and Solitude, great houses but frustrating to navigate majority of their territories. I despise running circles around mountains all day so I just avoid them entirely. Thankfully you made me realize there are still a lot of dungeons in hard to reach places that I’ve never been in. I’ve seen and done everything in the game so it’s gotten kinda stale, but exploring the areas I’ve entirely disregarded will be kinda fun.
Good god I just watched a two+ hour video about a single region of Skyrim curiosities. I've been playing Skyrim on and off since the release date where I pre-ordered it, and I never realized they put just so many tiny details into the world. It's fantastic, and I really hope they put as much love into their next game. But I have my doubts after their most recent releases.
If the roaming, firebreathing dragon was Alduin himself, then he wouldn't have eaten the burned corpses, as he feeds on the souls of the dead in Sovngarde. I find it likely that it was he who roamed Falkreath since he was in the area and attacked Helgen during our execution. Thanks for a cool vid :)
Plus before Alduin descends upon Helgen, we hear a few distant roars as the dragon approaches. It could be that the first roar signalled his attack of the caravan
I am 100% positive that doesnt matter at all. Party-snax has been on top of the Throat of the World for atleast 5k years, and no one talks about missing people or burnt corpses. Theres literally zero chance a creature that large could live in the same place for 5k years without people noticing massive amounts of livestock and wild game going missing at some point, and Klimmek isnt carrying 2-3 cows a week up the 7,000 steps, so the Greybeards arent feeding him. The only logical conclusion is that good ol' Party-snax is simply not eating anything at all. I sincerely think Dragons dont need to eat at all. They're clearly not mortals. If they do eat flesh, its either out of enjoyment or because it helps them regain energy more quickly, like drinking a magicka potion, not because they actually need to eat to sustain their bodies.
The puns recited in that serious, BBC documentary narrator voice, played completely straight, without so much as a snicker or a break in tone are really something special 🤣
When I was younger, I always wanted to live in Whiterun or Solitude because they're nice and large cities but with loads of wilderness around. Now, I only want to live in Falkreath, with it's ominous walls of trees and fog, mysterious magical sites, and buried unnamed ruins.
take a shot every time Camel says some variation of "right here, where my character is currently standing" thanks for the feature length CCC on the best hold, Camel
I remember ruefully thinking "I guess there's just not enough lore in Falkreath for a CCC on the subject.", like 3 years ago. I'm so impressed with this, I mean this is some serious lore coverage my friend! It would take me like 2wice as long to write that many puns!
I am VERY IMPRESSED by your guides to Skyrim! They are a work of pure art by themselves! Your amazing and lore based descriptions give you the feel that some famous traveler from Cryodil is writing a comprehensive Skyrim guide. Keep up the awesome work!!!!
I've been playing through Skyrim again recently with a lot more of an eye for little things and only halfway doing most of the questlines because of your CCC series tbh, I find this stuff absolutely delightful and I've honestly fallen back in love with the game. These are always so delightful to watch while I'm working on crochet projects and I actually have plans now with a friend to make ES themed items for local fairs. I really love that the White Gold Tower is visible from the edge of skyrim, it makes so much sense and fits perfectly. Lovely as always my dude.
Wow, this is amazing. So detailed, professional, beautiful. Falkhreat is the best hold, so gorgeous. Camelworks, you elevated this game to a new hights. Bethesda should hire you to do some special lore video content for their future Elder Scrolls games. This video is brilliant. The amount of effort, hard work that went into this video... Speechless. Everyone should share and promote this guys chanel because this is absolutely amazing.
I always come back to watch this video at LEAST once a year, my favorite area in all of Skyrim and one of my favorite TH-camrs going over it, just perfect.
The more I played and I did the Alternate start the more I came to appreciate Falkreath. I usually do the left for dead start and Falkreath ended up being my favorite place to start out in.
*Every time I watch a Camelworks/Fudgemuppet video:* "I'm gonna start Skyrim again and explore everything in the video or follow their guide on how to be a good warrior/mage!" *Proceeds to make yet another stealth arcane archer using Bound Bow.*
I love these man! Thanks to your CCC series I can vicariously travel back to Skyrim whenever, without having to boot the game up. Even if I did go back, it would be missing the horrible puns!
1:57:18 I've tested this. These locations will only be there as long as you haven't talked to the Jarl of Whiterun about the dragon attack as being part of the main questline. You don't immediately need to go there after leaving Helgen, unless you think you'll later forget to check. The Stormcloak camp was already there.
And Knowledge Of Game!. SKYRIM IS A TIMELESS..Classic GAME. just realized that recently. It'll last another 5. 10 years if ES6. Dosent Hold up..but thats a convo for the future....
Whenever I start a new game I always turn left outside immediately outside helgen keep. Falkreath just has immaculate vibes and I love how unique the dungeons in that area are. Halldirs cairn is an insane location to stumble on early game and is probably my favorite recent memory of Skyrim since I've put probably 600 hours into the game and just discovered this location yesterday.
When I was looking for crimson nirnroot Sinderion noted that water from the mushrooms were causing the unique color it's likely the earth mother was doing something similar in order to grow more nirnroot
The best part about this hold is Lake Ilinalta, I love everything about the lake and it's honestly a really good name for a kid when you dont want to name them something blatantly Skyrim related
Yes, its about as incognito as naming your kid Skeever or Nirnroot. 😂😂 it is a beautiful name, but anyone whos played Skyrim is going to know immediately, and anyone who hasnt played is going to ask you where you got the name from.
rings of plants tend to be a source of fairy magic in mythology, no doubt there was probably some kind of quest there considering the book, skull and staff in there
I literally just logged onto my computer, went on youtube and was going to play some random music while I played a game, saw this video (which I've been waiting for forever) in my recommendations. Instantly clicked, liked, and now I'm watching.
There are a bunch of quests there, like all cities and villages, but not much in the way of quests elsewhere in the hold. Outside of the quests, I spend the least time in The Reach, because why would anyone ever want to go there, it’s a horrible place. Winterhold too, and The Pale, and Hja... actually I pretty much just go to Whiterun, Solitude, Riften and Falkreath unless I am completing quests elsewhere. Falkreath looks nice and I use Lakeview Manor, so I spend a lot of time there.
On a new 2k20 playthrough. Just bought and built my house on falkreath land..feels great. Better than breezhome( you can tell i never finished this game... Ima fIx That !) : )
I'm pretty sure this is my third time watching this video because Falkreath is my fav hold. The CCC's get me through insane work spreadsheets- so thank you.
I was thinking more along the lines of since the mammoth bones look ancient but there are fresh human kills this was likely the feeding ground of one of the resurrected dragons, his fresh human kills painting his ancient mammoth boneyard a bright red for the first time in 1000s of years
Here some deeper insight: *The Hunters Camps* you can find everywhere in Skyrim - as well as "Animal Camps". Both can have several States and stand often in interaction to each other. A Camp can be empty or you even find Hunters sitting there. If they are not sitting there, you may find them roaming, at battle with some Animals at an Animals Camp or Dead inside of such Camp. Same goes vice Versa for Animals - you may find the Hunters beside a Camp fighting Animals for example. As it is very rare to find Hunters attacking a Animal Camp or vice Versa, this happens more often with Groves - the Places where are the Saplings reside. Attacks on Camps also often sport such a Sapling or a Sapling Queen alonmg the Animals attacking, though only at higher Levels (and no, 40 is not "high"). Reading thoose Cues allow for a better Hunting when hunting for Furs yourself in the beginning. *The Dragons* are from Alduins Origins - they are literally Soldiers in the Dragon War, transported through Time like Alduin who was not "resurrected" rather than "banished for some Time" back then aka just teleported forward in Time to give Time to prepare for the Fight as they were not able to be defeated back then. So the Dragons never "eat" like Animals rather than wage War on the Humans as for them no Time passed and they Think they are at War, just out for "killing the Enemies". *The burned Carriages* thus can be of Dragon Attack origin, but they also can be of another Reason: The Foresworn and their own "War" - as the Caravan there has a Foresworn Camp closer by. Also, thoose Carriages can be killed by the Aldmer Inquisitors as well to destabilize the Skyrim Infrastructure - explaining the "Mage-Attack" vibes. About the *Fairy Circles* aka Mushroom Circles, I wont spoil the reason for them - I will justz say, that you *CAN* have an Unicorn as Mount in Oblivion and sometimes you may find certain "Random Encounters" at them as well (Yet, I never managed or found a Unicorn Mount in Skyrim sadly).
Absolutely loved this, just had it running on second monitor whilst working on the other. Amazing level of detail in a nice easy going voice. Thank You
"Oh hey, Camelworks has uploaded. Alright, sure, I needed a break from work anyway. I'm always down for a quick video from..." *Sees the video is over 2 hours long* "Okaayy, maybe I'll just finish my work first."
Okay Camelworks. I found a curiosity. I'm not certain if you've encountered it before. If you go through Shroud Hearth Barrow, but don't kill Wyndelius Gatharian, the one scaring the townsfolk with the Philter of Phantom. You can turn in his journal to get the Sapphire Dragon Claw and complete the dungeon. When you come out of the dungeon you'll open a trap door leading directly into the room Wyndelius is set to stay in. But he will be kneeling on the ground with his arms held behind his back as if they were tied. As if he was a criminal. He can still stand up and engage in combat though, but still very interesting.
I’ve been following your progress on this video on Instagram for the past like month, I’d feel bad if I didn’t watch it after seeing all the hard work and dedication you put into it
Interesting Fact: If you disable the borders with console commands in Oblivion, you can actually walk a ways into skyrim, and its in Falkreath Hold. If you compare the landscapes visible from Cyrodiil in Oblivion to those at the southern border in Skyrim, they match! Curious little thing that Bethesda payed attention to.
I love this video, As a note, the fungi in the fairy rings in this video are mychorrizal species, they are symbiotic with trees. Sometimes fairy rings grow as you described, eating decaying matter from a point outward, and fruiting on the edge where new growth occurs (saprobic) . No remnants of that tree makes me think its something more akin to a newly chopped tree. But, theres no tree stump or disturbance... You may have touched on the true nature of this spot, something is preventing the mushrooms from growing inward. The fungi are probably associated with other trees in the vacinity howerver they cant grow due to some unseen ecological processes. It could be a case of oil saturation (though grass is there and its not as dead looking, or maybe some natural fungicide got spilled off a cart or something, maybe someone was traveling with a batch of yeast or something detrimental to fungal growth and it spilled? The mystery is still on for sure....
All the puns are appreciated, please keep going! 31:50 - It could be that the Khajiit tried to veer of from traps and turned over? And horse could have had legs broken, so no blood, but it won't be able to venture far off.
Never seen videos such prolonged, such masterly and lovingly done, thank you so much for such a peaceful aesthetic of the favorite game brought to my life♥
Thank you Camel. I’ve listened to this the last few days while at my second job and I love it, lol. The puns have me laughing and shaking my head in disbelief that someone would make that joke lol
Now i want to explore more of Falkreath, the lush nature looks awesome there and would be a welcome change from the mostly Icy landscapes I wander at the moment in my playthrough 😄 Awesome Video, love that peaceful and detailed deep dive into the Game! But i have to watch other regions, time to inhale your other videos now 😂
Seems many curiosities but no tabac for Camelworks pipe while he's at it with his looking glass. Before I forget, I'd love to see a Jack the Ripper mystery in ES6. Those seemingly insignificant spots or areas that put a smile and pride on faces for willing discovery is what makes a Bethesda game a Bethesda game.
Fun fact, there are three contenders for ‘the most common thing for humans to drink.’ Tea, Coffee, and Water. We still cannot determine which of the three is the most popular drink even in any given year.

1:08:37 I don't know how true it is in our world but I remember someone bringing up that Valhalla is only open to those who die a warriors death such as falling in battle or having an honorable death. Some dig sites found that some people were buried with their weapons in the real world. Maybe this person wanted to die with axe in hand so that they may be welcomed in sovngarde.

That is the only time this type of joke has ever made me laugh.

This video is brilliant. The amount of effort, hard work that went into this video... Speechless.
Everyone should share and promote this guys chanel because this is absolutely amazing.
Could not agree more!

Falkreath is definitely my favorite hold in the game. Such an underrated place.

Mine as well 😊
1:57:18 I've tested this.

This video is amazing, I can't imagine how much work went into this. Definitely a lot of mysteries I never even realized were there.
Having played Skyrim for years, I foolishly thought I knew everything about Falkreath. So delighted to be proved wrong!
People: There’s nothing interesting in Falkreath.
Camel: Hello, my friend. Stand a while and listen.
In an entire play through of Skyrim I won’t even stay in Falkreath for 2 hours and you got 2 hours of CCC
I always build lakeview so its probably the hold i spend the most time in
Altaïr ibn-La'Ahad Same.
This is a work of art. I commend your efforts. It makes me want to watch more like this. So skillfully done.
40:57 at least two dragons have been around since the others were wiped out: Paarthunax and Mirmulnir. Maybe others.
I was thinking more along the lines of since the mammoth bones look ancient but there are fresh human kills this was likely the feeding ground of one of the resurrected dragons, his fresh human kills painting his ancient mammoth boneyard a bright red for the first time in 1000s of years
Paarthunax mentions “not indulging” so he probably just has reached some dragon zen and doesn’t eat, and who says mirmulnir wasn’t revived by alduin?

Here some deeper insight:
*The Hunters Camps* you can find everywhere in Skyrim - as well as "Animal Camps".
Thank You
I just wanted to say, thank you. The time and effort you put into these videos. Skyrim will never die.

One of my favorite videos of all time. Watched it a dozen times, still as enjoyable as ever.
Falkreath has always been my favorite hold ever since the hearthfire dlc came out nice to have some light shed on the place
If there's anything I've learned from this video, it's that the location is always where his character is standing.
I’ve been following your progress on this video on Instagram for the past like month, I’d feel bad if I didn’t watch it after seeing all the hard work and dedication you put into it
Interesting Fact:
If you disable the borders with console commands in Oblivion, you can actually walk a ways into skyrim, and its in Falkreath Hold. If you compare the landscapes visible from Cyrodiil in Oblivion to those at the southern border in Skyrim, they match! Curious little thing that Bethesda payed attention to.
Source: Nothing lol, I was just curious and figured it out myself
Thats dope. Honestly im glad these games take long to make.
