Herman and Sam from DragonForce composed the guitar parts for this song and performed them for the studio recording. Good ear! If I remember correctly, Herman and Sam made the guitar parts to be faster than normal because they assumed the song would never be played live BUT BABYMETAL ended up being asked to play it live for a metal award show and had the DragonForce guys perform it with them! LOL🤘🦊🤘
This ^^ It was written ‘with dragon force’ The three women are Babymetal. The band is called the Kami Band. I’d highly recommend listening to them now. Their voices have matured. In this there is Su Metal (lead), Moa Metal, and Yui Metal. Yui had to leave due to medical issues. She has been replaced by Momo Metal.
The recap of the lineup nested up neatly by timeline: 2010 SuMetal MoaMetal, YuiMetal, Original Trio. 2018 Yui leaves for health reasons. Su and Moa continues alone 2019 The Avengers, a group of 3 unnamed backups rotate in Yui'a place (avegers have been identified as: Kano, Riho, and Momoko) 2023 MomoMetal, one of the avengers, steps in permanantly in Yui's place, and is now a part of the Main Trio
Because Babymetal are not a guitar group but vocals plus choreography it has enabled them to collaborate with other bands, most recently Electric Callboy and Bring Me The Horizon, with great results. It pays to forget sny preconceived notions of how a metal group is traditionally set up and enjoy a unique experience. They aren't the most successful Japanese act internationally for no reason.
Yes the women are Babymetal. They started without the money for a backing band. They later added the Eastern Kami band. They have a core group of musicians, but substitute in replacements as scheduling dictates. They latter added the Western Kami band made up of American musicians. They have something close to 10 collaborations with other bands over the past 10+ years, so don’t be surprised to hear similarities at times.
I was sorry you got so hung up on the Dragonforce vibes. As you've already found out the reason for that. Herman Li was quoted as saying they wrote the guitar parts extra complicated cause they knew they'd never have to play this live. Then when it turned out they did he said they worked their butts off to get it right. Yeah, Babymetal is the three yount women-here 17,15 & 15. Their "band" is known as the Kami Band and at this stage were a group of Japan's top session musician's. Nowadays the Kami's are primarily top American musicians. The original Kami's were quoted as "We love the girls. Because of them we play stadiums and tour the world". The then young Babymetal said "We loved the Kami Band when we were out there we felt protected and safe and knew they were always watching out for us." I had t paraphrase a little but that was the gist of the quotes. Through the years there have always been songs that give the Kami's featureed spots.
@@teckreactions to see more highlight on the band i recommend you to check the song called "Rondo of Nightmare (with Mischief of God Intro). This particular song only perform by the band and the vocalist without two "backup" dancer.
I'll share my experience! I'm 47, discovered them late 2022, was extremely confused yet fascinated, blew through their entire history and catalogue, and last year my wife and I saw them back to back in Houston and Dallas and holy cow it was mind blowing! Even being older now, in their mid 20s, they have even more energy somehow! Their hard work, insane stage presence, and infectious relentless energy inspires me so much. They make me smile and laugh and feel young again! They also have some VERY positive messaging. In Dallas we were very close to the stage and they did so much personal crowd interaction its so fun! Their stage presence is something you can feel, and Su was always a great singer but now shes legit superstar top tier level, especially live! No two songs sound the same. There's surprises around every corner. I hope you enjoy more!
to mirror Maksnake8998 Herman Li and Sam Totman did the guitar arrangements. Babynetal is the three singers/dancers Su, Yui and Moa in this video. Eventually Yui left and was replace last year by Momo. They were formed in 2010 when Su (lead singer) was 12 and Yui and Moa were 11. The backing band, known as the Kami Band are some of the best session players in Japan. Babymetal has 4 studi albums and around 60 songs,.
@@teckreactions They work with a number of outside songwriters. The lead singer, Su-Metal, did write the lyrics for "Divine Attack" on their most recent album though. Moametal and former member Yuimetal wrote the lyrics to Song 4 on their first album.
"We are .... BABYMETAL!" Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊Sorry, I think this comment will be far too long (thought I'd best say that in advance so you can skip it if you want to). Sounds like DragonForce you say? No coincidence and no need to be suspicious that it was plagiarism or anything - Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They have said they made this more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and that they had to practice hard when they did perform it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London later in 2015. BABYMETAL are Su-metal (lead vocals & dance), Moametal and Momometal (official title scream & dance but really backing vocals, harmonies and leading the audience, getting everybody involved and joining in with their interpretive choreo). Su and Moa were founding members in 2010 with the third original girl Yui or Yuimetal (she was in this video). They were 12 and 11 years old. Yui last appeared in October 2017 but had (undisclosed) health issues and announced she was still not fully recovered and had decided to leave to follow her own dreams 12 months later in October 2018. Su and Moa continued as a duo for 4 or 5 years supported from 2019 by 3 dancers (the Avengers) who would take turns dancing, but not singing, in the third spot. From about March 2020 there was just one Avenger left - Momoko. On 1st April 2023 Momoko was finally revealed as the third official member of BABYMETAL (Momometal) and got her microphone. You may have no interest in dance ... yet. I was exactly the same, choreographed dance had no place in metal, it even annoyed me in pretty much any other genre too - pointless jumping and mincing round, used to fill the stage or to give me something to watch to take my mind off bland music. BABYMETAL's choreo serves at least two real purposes: 1. It is interpretive, bespoke for each song and relates to the meaning of the song or a lyric; 2. It is designed to involve and include the audience, to get everybody joining in and becoming part of the performance. There is no band with better crowd control than BABYMETAL. Now I see other bands standing about, maybe jumping or running about if I'm lucky, with their guitars etc - all those things I was brought up on and enjoyed watching at concerts for decades - and now it all seems a bit same-y, even dull and repetitive. They all do the same things. Maybe they'll all line up for a group headbang with their feet up on the monitors now and then. Since discovering BABYMETAL and their choreo I somehow wish other bands did the same. Strangely I still feel exactly the same as I did about any other form of dance - it all seems pointless and even annoying. I don't think I'm alone, but maybe it is just me. This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (actually several walls of death at that concert as the crowd were in sections. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, I think it was, 21 mosh pits). They don't just do concerts, they do whole performances and put on a show ... and the audience is always a big part of the performance. This was also the end of a 90 minute concert - they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world. About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. BABYMETAL are pretty much unique in that they invented their own genre and nobody has been able to do what they do (some have tried, none came close). BABYMETAL have gone on to become one of the very best live bands on the planet (and have won international awards to prove that is not just my opinion). Their big arena shows are spectacular, but they put on great shows every time, even in smaller venues and festivals as they tour the world where they can't always have all the special effects and flames etc too. The instrumentalists are called the Kami Band. Kami means god or spirit, so they are the gods of guitar bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL in their live concerts - which is why they were in traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint. They are not, with just one known exception, involved in writing the songs or recording the studio versions. Since late 2017 their robes are black and since 2019 the corpse face was replaced with masks (everybody prefers the face paint). The Kami Band are among the very best session musicians to be found in Japan, each one of them a world class musician. They all have their own bands and projects so when one is not available another musician will step in. There have been many Kami Band members over the years, but the same hard core of about 6 musicians have played the vast majority of shows - in this video you saw Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Since 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians - guitarists Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio, Clint Tustin or Ryan Neff on bass and drummer Anthony Barone) have supported BABYMETAL on the lengthy foreign tours (nearly 100 concerts in 25 countries last year). Videos like this are usually taken from the BluRays - BABYMETAL are the main focus, they are the show, so you won't always see lengthy shots of the Kami Band playing their guitars. Go to see the live shows and you can watch them as much as you want, they will be right there in plain view ... but these girls have such a presence on stage I would bet you'll be watching them more than you'll be watching the Kamis ... along with the rest of us.
I'm Japanese. Thank for your reaction. BABYMETAL is not metal band but 'METAL DANCE UNIT'(in official).😁 And they are already adults now. The vocalist is always selected as one of the top rock singers in the world by famous music magazines in the United Kingdom and is called 'Queen' in the metal world.😍
The 3 young ladies are Babymetal!! The band, aka Kami Band is the touring band for Babymetal. Those men got to travel the world because of 3 teenage high school students.
Great first reaction. There is one thing I always say to new BM reacters. Throw out all of your western preconceived notions of what a band should be like. You'll enjoy music alot more. Many first timers always focus on the musicians, who wrote the lyrics, who wrote the music, and how much of a 'manufactured' group they are. Nope, throw all that out because this is Japan, and they don't do things the western world does things. The musicians are called the Kami Band, and they are a group of session musicians that get swapped in and out. The three girls are Babymetal, first debuted in 2010 under the umbrella of a jpop idol group Sakura Gakuin. The lead singer was 12, and the other two were about 10 or 11 years old. The producer, Koba-metal, brought together a singer with a powerful voice that can cut through the heavy music, brought together some of the very best session musicians in Japan, talented music and lyric writers, and created a new genre called 'kawaii' metal (cute metal). Others will chime in with the more details about the individual musicians. But I hope you will continue your Babymetal journey as they are nothing you will have heard elsewhere. their live shows are among the best on the planet. Edited: Holy smokes, I left out an important aspect. Mikiko MIzuno as the young choreographer who has had NO metal music experience had to come up with choreo to match the music.
Thank you for your wonderful comment. Many Americans say that "Rock was born in America, grew in England, and was perfected in Japan." There are many diverse rock groups in Japan today. For example, Band-Maid, One OK Rock, Nemophila, Yoasobi, ADO, and many others. Please enjoy. (Translation software used)😁
@@rinpenjyunseiI wouldn't call yoasobi rock necessarily. It's kind of pop and rock mixed together with some EDM. And Japan tends to perfect, but not originate, many things. It's a cultural thing I think. If you speak Japanese I might be able to say it in that language.
I love babymetal. Not only because when i first found them i was really confused but i had a big smile on my face watching these j-pop idols singing and dancing in front of a metal band. Thanks to them leading the way for women metal and heavy rock bands in Japan. Right now 5 of my top 10 favorite bands are female bands from Japan. I think you would enjoy them too. They all have incredible drummers
@@teckreactions Yes babymetal is the three girls. The band backing them up is called Kami Band. This was the eastern version of the Kami band (all japanese musicians) but during their recent years they have toured with a western Kami Band that are all American musicians. But don't worry all iterations of Kami band are always absolutely amazing.
It's the girls. You should see the history of BabyMetal. It is a very interesting and it actually helped metal, and more specifically female metal and female rock bands become a major thing in Hapan when the countries youth all pretty much only followed pop idols at the time.
@@teckreactions Just the three singer/dancers. I was surprised you didn't mention the drumming of Hideki Aoyama. One of the most powerful performances I've ever heard.
You have to dump preconceived ideas with a group like Babymetal which is possibly one of the best things about them. Their origins are kind of weird but it works.
Welcome to Babymetal! I’m sure you got tons of info from us crazy fans lol. I’ll just say this: you can’t approach Babymetal the same as you would a “classic metal band”. They are 100% manufactured group fusing J-Pop and heavy metal. If you give them a fair shake, then you’ll come to understand, as I have, why they’ve become so loved and have had the support from legends such as Rob Halford, Metallica, Tom Morello, Rob Zombie, to name a few. If you go down the fox hole enough, you’ll appreciate their genuine love for the genre and their “organic” growth, despite being a stigmatic “manufactured” group. Hope to see more Babymetal from your channel! 🤘🦊
Producer Key Kobayashi is an avid metal head, stuck in the J-Pop idol industry. He started a passion project to revitalize a dying metal scene in Japan in 2010, by fusing J-pop and metal, which became Babymetal. So they were formed as part of a talent agency idol group, had their team of song writers and composers, etc, much like a pop group does.
@@teckreactions long story short, the gals, the producer, and the entire team worked tirelessly and gave Babymetal their all in their journey. Earned every fan around the world and pushed through critics and initial hate. So they have earned their stripes after 14 years, and that’s a big reason I respect them. Aside from that, their music is just F’ing amazing, and so are their performances. 🤘🦊
It’s doesn’t actually sound like Fire n Flames, but it’s clearly from the same stable. As has been said many times in the comments, it was co written by Herman Lee et al. BABYMETAL are one of the best live shows on the planet to this day. Just awesome. At the time of this 20,000 sold out concert they were 16/15/15. Already seasoned professionals.
The band is called Kami Band. BabyMetal is the 3 girls. There have been around 7 different guitarist alone that have been part of the Kami Band. They are basically session musicians and different guys play for different songs, like the Wrecking Crew.
@@teckreactions Not really acurate, the Kami Band for years were rotating cast of 3 guitarists: Mikio Fujiyoka, Takayoshi Ohmura, Leda Cygnus and Aoyama Hideki and BOH on drums and bass. They would be replaced only on extremely rare occassions if one was unavailable. It was a close group of session musicians that often play together on various projects. Once BM tours got really time consuming another band consisting of Anthony Barone on drums and 3 members of Galactic Empire band was introduced to support US and European tours and seems to completely replaced asian Kami Band by now. Ma point is, the intention was to have the same band supporting them. Unfortunately since introduction of western musicians management hides them behind masks, so the audience wouldn't notice they are not Asian and they are barely featured on live videos and don't interract with the crowd during shows like the asian Kami Band used too. Both the girls and session musicians are just performers, with the girls having only credits for lyrics of 2 songs and Leda Cygnus having credits for guitar parts of few songs.
Babymetal is by far the biggest Japanese music export in their history. There a lot to see and hear. You most likely know about other Japanese bands because they exist since 2010. Arguably the best thing that happened to rock and metal for more than a decade. Their story is truly unique.
@@teckreactions The best thing for me was immediately recognizing the immense talent from everyone involved and watching them growing up and their songs since 2013, 4 studio albums and almost 2 dozen Live albums later, almost 70 songs, _literally_ all different from each other.
Very good start to your journey down the Fox Hole! Very non-traditional band that essentially created their own genre. They actually just released a colab with Electric Callboy
@@teckreactions The Electric Callboy collaboration is 11/10. And it shows how good the girls are at adapting to anything. NOTE - they are mid 20 now, still cute, but in another way, which is more than obvious in the Callboy video. And their dancing and singing is still flawless. One difference though. When small it was almost only Su that was singing and the other two made shouts. But now, they harmonize. And the new girl Momoka even growls.
Yeah, Herman Li and Sam Totman wrote the guitar parts and performed it on the album. Babymetal are the three young ladies, and they broke the door down for Japanese rock in the west, and they are huge, the most successful act internationally Japan has had. The band is indeed session musicians, but it's like in the model of Nine Inch Nails, which has a small pool of musicians they pull from to go on the road. They are teenagers, Su the lead singer I think was 17 here, and they are in high school at the time. They have since grown up. Check out Monochrome (live version) or their current hit, a collab with Electric Callboy, Ratatata, which is on top of the charts for all music, I think #3 on Apple play.
Sorry, but Herman Li and Sam Totman didn't actually write any of the music. Would have been fun if they had, but it is not actually the case. They are just featured artists, on a track that is of course made to sound like DragonForce, but completely written by other people.
@@egodreas This is not the interview I was thinking of but Li says "we wrote, we played the guitars on, we arranged them" th-cam.com/video/MgM0OKeT0dI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ze83jGId4pQHgthL
The current line-up for their session musician is : - Chris Kelly, Guitar (Band : Galactic Empire) - CJ Masciantonio, Guitar (Band : Galactic Empire) - Ryan Neff, Bass (Band : Miss May I, As I Lay Dying) / Clint Tustin, Bass (Band : Erra) - Anthony Barone, Drum (Band : All That Remains).
BABYMETAL is the most unique metal experience in the world right now coming from Japan 🇯🇵. Not only their appearances, their style, and everything that surrounds them visually but they’re an incredible band as well supporting them and they’re so passionate about metal but music in general they know everything about the metal music discography and they’ve created a very special feeling, and experience within the entire metal community. They work extremely hard to create something unique for every community ranging from the young to old. Babymetal may not be everyone's metier but if you don't like it's ok. Babymetal paves the way for other Japanese 🇯🇵 bands to be recognized worldwide. BABYMETAL may not be everyone Forte but respect them. Yui Mizuno left BABYMETAL in 2018 cited health issues". Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult.
@@teckreactions You could be asking how was Ozzy Osbourne metal when it was other people playing the metal ... or Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Corey Taylor, Phil Anselmo and pretty much every other vocalist whose instrument is their voice. What is the difference other than BABYMETAL are 3 girls - all vocalists who also dance? It is a question that was put to bed over 10 years ago. BABYMETAL just don't fit into the imaginary boxes people have - they don't even fit into just one genre - they do power/speed metal, Prog Metal, thrash, djent, black, death, folk and so on, but they will also mix and blend JPop vocals and aesthetics (including the dance of course) as well as Latin, Bollywood, EDM, rap and so many more musical styles and genres. They are metal - just not as you may know it. They are original, innovative and unique and they do things their own way ... which is actually a very metal attitude - they don't play by the rules that some people seem to have made up about what makes something metal or not.
@@teckreactionsSaid like all the Metal gatekeepers. Is Ozzy metal? Is Ronnie Jakes Dio metal? Is Brian Johnson metal? The list goes on and on. WTF does playing an instrument have to do with anything? BabyMetal is WAY more popular and have sold tons more records and have endured for far longer than your precious Bandaid. That's not by accident You're a real mental midget.
Nice reaction! There is certainly nothing wrong with having some doubts. It's actually expected. The only thing I will say is, if you feel its a great song, that's all that should matter. Why talk yourself out of it? As you have undoubtedly already learned in the comments, there are reasons why they do things the way they do them. Babymetal is a very different kind of band so it takes a little time to get familiar with how they do things. Some people can accept those differences in the end, some cannot. It's all fine. It's all subjective anyway.
The funny thing is... go and listen to Through the Fire and Flames again... it's sounds nothing like this. Similar guitar signatures since they helped with the guitars. But the melody and riff are different. Shame you couldn't get past that to enjoy the song.
I literally listened to it right after I stopped recording to make sure I wasn’t crazy. I was able to enjoy the song just fine. It probably doesn’t help that I’ve played TTFAF hundreds of times on Guitar Hero though.
Yes, yes, it did sound like it. They wrote it. I think Su is 16 here, and zyui and Moa are 13 or 14. They may all be a year younge or older, but eithervway, they are very young here
This is the encore song of the one-man show. I think this is their best video for this song. The girls were between 15 and 17 years old at the time. They are still loved all over the world as a ground-breaking group in which the girls dance and sing rock music, and they are said to be good at singing. The backing band "KAMI Band" at this time was the best group. Please enjoy. (using translation software)
BABYMETAL - expect the unexpected is the best thing I can say about them.. they do what they want. Their songs cover just about every style of metal you can name (death, prog, speed, whatever) so no song is like any other. The other thing about them is their massive fan interaction - the concerts are about an immersive experience - not just about some guys playing guitars and singing. Also I noticed your Sleep Token tshirt. When I saw them live in 2019 (they did 2 dates in UK between two massive shows in Japan) one was Glastonbury the other was Brixton Academy which I saw and the show openers for them were Amananthe and Sleep Token!
Having written the guitar parts Dragon force have played this with them live, BM are the 3 girls and the band session musicians, Su was 17 here and You and Moa 15 but they had been together for 5 years and Su had already been singing for 6 years then. Try the new collab with Electric Callboy, If you want to see the band there are a lot of songs where they do intros, Rondo of Nightmare is particularly good from Budakan 2014 Black Night.🤘🤘🤘🦊🦊🦊
Babymetal touches on every type of metal. It is sometimes called kawaii metal. They have worked with Dragonforce, Rob Halford, Joachim of Sabaton, and most recently in their new release with Electric Callboy, Ratatata. That song was just released last week. Yes, they are primarily about the ladies, but the backing musicians are always incredible. They have fun, almost pop songs, heavy death metal songs, and even a song that reflects Dream Theater's style of prog metal. It takes some listenings to realize how good the band really is. They were the first of the internationally known, female-fronted metal bands out of Japan.
Great first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘 Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Download, Sonisphere, Glastonbury, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album last year and they just finished a world tour where they had many shows here in the US. They also recently released a new music video for their song called "Metali" that features Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, and a few days ago they released the music video for "RATATATA" which is a collab with Electric Callboy! 🤘🦊🤘
Babymetal is just the girls but the backing band is apart of the lore so they’re involved in some way. This isn’t a typical sounding Babymetal song this is more power metal than they usually are.
The 3 girls are Babymetal and the main focus. The band known as the Kami band is made up of session musicians and are all currently American, as i assume the Japanese members have other commitments or things they want to do.
From my understanding, the American musicians tour with them in the states and the Japanese musicians tour with them in Japan. I do know, the American musicians make up the band Galactic Empire which is a band that does metal covers to Star Wars songs. I did see Galactic Empire last year 🤘😊🤘
@@Socrates_1775 you were correct but legend MM, and the final show, nexfest and Foxfest have all been the American Kami band. I think the begins shows was the last time any eastern member performed.
There's a VERY good reason Babymetal have been one of the most popular and respected bands in the world among their peers over the past 14 years since they were formed . When I say peers - they have either toured with , opened for or collaborated with - Metallica , Korn , GunsN'Roses , RCHP , Sabaton , Bring Me The Horizon , Rob Halford ( Judas Priest ) , Tom Morello ( RATM ) , Electric Callboy etc to name but a few . This is in addition to being invited to appear at some of the world's biggest Festivals ( like Glastonbury ,Hellfest & Aftershock ) all this plus their own sold out World Tours - regularly playing to crowds of 20,000+ - they are truly a phenomenon !
BABYMETAL is a female group currently in their 20s, and their latest song "RATATATA" a collaboration with ElectricCallboy, is very popular. What's interesting is that even though BABYMETAL is younger than Electric Callboy, both have been around since 2010 and have been active for about the same amount of time to date🤘
ありがとう!🦊 I am an ardent BABYMETAL fan and also a fan of Yoyoka, a now 14 year old drummer. Ian Paice and Robert Plant reacted to her drum cover video, she did a session with Billy Sheehan, and recently she took a video with Tom Morello. I would like to ask BABYMETAL's reaction, of course, but Yoyoka's reaction, too, please. 🔥🤘🦊 From🇯🇵
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I, a big fan of Band-Maid and BABYMETAL, am so happy to see this video. (Your questions including for Dragonforce vibe will be answered by other viewers 😄 ) The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. This anthemic song was played in almost every show in their 2023 tours in North American, EU/UK, Asia and Australia. (And several times in USA/Japan this year) The audience reaction is always similar to what you saw. In your video, Su-Metal shouted some words at 11:50 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She has shouted it occasionally since then and when she does, it is with her friendly smile, mild and matured voice that I love 😍
Band-Maid is much more 90s pop-metal. Like Metallica, Pantera, etc. Overall for regular listening I prefer band like Band-Maid but BabyMetal is certainly a fun listen and watch.
Babymetal fans are really very loyal and a lot of us have watched them grow up, literally. So we tend to be kind of protective about them. Sorry if we come off a bit rude or brigading sometimes. When you see these 11 year old girls being little girls and growing into beautiful young ladies they are today, you kind of feel.like someone just insulted your little sister. Healthy? Probably not the healthiest but there it is..
@teckreactions yeah I felt bad reading some of the responses you got. Nobody should be dissing a reactor because they don't give a good review or think the song is perfect. And I thought I'd let you know why it might happen. You did a really good review and were honest. that's all anyone can ask.

It is co-written by DragonForce so yeah, I also think they're credited in the description.
The great thing with BABYMETAL is that it is hard to find 2 songs that sounds the same. Yes Dragon Force cowrote parts of this song and You can hear it. The same with the songs Gimme Chocolate and Awadama Fever that was written by the bassplayer in electro punk band The Mad Capsule Market. Lately they do a lot of collabs. The latest with Electric Callboy.
Originally as raw as it can get the band started with these lovely girls, they performed with backing track because they couldn't afford the cost of a live band in the very beginning as they had 🤏 resources then after some time live musicians went on board with BABYMETAL & has been their support live band since then, they mostly play live tho so the studio version of their songs is mostly not written by the support band even tho some of them has credits in a studio song here & there so yes you can say everyone who works with them is BABYMETAL, KOBA their main producer & the girls being the soul who created the band as a whole.
Briefly, Babymetal is: Suzuka Nakamoto/Su-metal Moa Kikuchi/Moametal Yui Mizuno/Yuimetal (left in 2018 due to undisclosed health issues) Momoko Okazaki/Momometal (Official mew member since 2023) The backing band is a rotating cast of session musicians (Kami Band) who only perform at live shows. They are not on the studio recordings except for one guitarist who did get some album credits. Originally all Japanese musicians, they have since transitioned to primarily American musicians, notably some members of the Star Wars themed metal group Galactic Empire. Kitsune Da O!🤘🦊🤘
I have been a fan of them since 2020 and seen them live once. I feel like their live shows are more like a theater or musical. Shows have a lot of elements of storytelling and they use props in some songs, moving platforms, dancing, crowd interaction and so on. I thing it makes them really interesting to see live and thats why people always say that BABYMETAL is best seen live. Road of Resistance is good starter song. I would say that next Rondo of nightmare from 2014 Budokan Black Night. It's one of those live performances where it tells a story, there is a moving platform and the lights are very theatrical. If you want to hear their most complex song, it's Tales of the Destinies. Only performes once at Tokyo Dome in front of 55000 people. Very Dream Theater kinda song. If you want to hear their most heavy song it's maybe something like Sis. Anger or BABYMETAL DEATH. Both are very different styles and different kind of heavy. BxMxC is also pretty heavy but more like a hiphop song. Now that I think of it, the heaviest song is 100% Sis. Anger. If you want to hear their most fan favorite songs, they are propably in my own experience Headbanger (Live Legend 1997 Apocalypse), Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Live Sonisphere 2014), Syncopation, Yava. And the list goes on. Yava and Syncopation are hidden gems, only really hard core fans know that those are the real 10/10 songs😅 There is so much more to BABYMETAL that I am not going into. Let other fans give you that info. I would like to remind you that most of the songs I said here are old songs and should be seen as product of their times.
It is complicated. It is a manufactured group created by Key Kobayashi for the Amuse talent agency as a spin off of school kid idol group. But that is kind of reductionist. It is also people who like music, very talented session players and some girls who can sing, dance and keep a stadium entertained. And then you have layers of mythology and stuff. It becomes the sum of the parts and if it works then it works.
Sumetal, the lead singer is 16 going on 17, Moametal and Yuimetal are 15. One of the most affecting things about this is the way these children had control of 20,000 people.
Dragonforce wrote or arranged it for them. At least the Album Version. When it bacame known that they would have to play it for the Queen they had a rush to train for it.
Blows my mind when I consider the amount of talent and skill it takes to do what they do and not have their vocals "shake" as they sing and dance. And they are like 16 ish in this one. I know Moa, the girl on the left of the singer most of the time just turned 25 in 2024, when I am feeling down, or had a crap day, I just click on some Babymetal vids and it's not long before the smiles come. I also love that Babymetal fans come in all shapes, colors and backgrounds. You can have a vetran metal head jamming out right next to a teenage pop fan. It's amazing. I love these girls, and their band the "Kami Band" I don't think they have an official name, well maybe Kami Band is the official name, and one of them passed and members have been switched, but they are pure perfection.
Lead was 17 and the backups were 15 at the time of this performance. Imagine being in a H.S. talent show and you have to go on stage after this trio... 😅😮
thank you for your great reaction . I genuinely felt that it was your first time seeing your reaction. I really enjoyed how realistic it was. I would like to see more of your comments on Babymetal. Your background knowledge is sufficient based on the comments for this video. I would love to hear the drummer's thoughts on the performances of the Kami Band and the vocals of the vocalist. In my view, what you would enjoy is the early Babymetal. It showcases a fresh contrast between teenage girls and top-notch musicians. I recommend videos from before 2016.
Good reaction The relationship between BabyMetal and Dragon Force goes back a long way. It is one of the groups that supported them when they entered the scene in the West, back in 2014. The producer of Download, after seeing them at the Sonisphere in England, said that they were very good, but they were not what the festival was looking for and that BabyMetal would never would play in it. When Dragon Force found out that they had been banned, they brought them on stage during their performance and played a song with them. In 2016 BabyMetal was already, I believe, the headliner of the festival.
Babymetal is the girls. The band on this clip is the Kami Band. In the beginning BabyMetal had studio musicians that did the records and the shows. They wore skeleton costumes that covered the face, so you could never see if the same musicians were at a different show. The Kami Band was hired at some point as their band, and toured both Japan and overseas. After one member of the band died, they decided to only do the Japanese shows, and other musicians play the overseas shows. They need, and find amazing musicians to play with them. Most of their songs are written by several people that do not perform on stage. This one however had guitar parts modified and arranged by Sam Totman and Herman Li of Dragon Force. They also played on the album, and at the first live performance. After that the other musicians learned the song. And as you can see, they are very talented.
If you want to react to something a little more recent, check out the live official video of "Brand New Day", a song they collaborated with Scott LePage and Tim Henson 5 years ago, but this was the first time that Scott and Tim played live with Baby Metal at Fox Fest in Yokohama, Japan in 2024. And it is in the same venue where they recorded "Road of Resistance". You will see the difference between then and now. Su, the lead singer is now 27 and has been singing in competitions since she was 6 years old. She has one of the most powerful voices out there today and her voice has matured beautifully and she can handle any type of song or style. I saw them for the first time on September 15th, 2023 in NYC. I'm 77 and have been following rock since the late 1950's and they are like nothing I have ever seen before. Baby Metal is a true multi-genre group that have used influences from other cultures and has collaborated with artists from Joakim Broden of Sabaton to Dragonforce to Polyphia. I'm also a huge Band Maid fan and have seen them 3 times here. The music scene in Japan is electric, whether it is rock, metal or jazz/funk and they put us to shame.
This is exactly what you have asked for!!! Definitely check out BabyMetal - Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live (best live show highlighting the kami band, they are front and center, invite only arena, Nightmare type ballad, super heavy, Ozzy played at this arena back in the day).
If it helps in addition to what others said Rob Zombie, Bring Me The Horizon and Dragonforce were the first western bands to recognize and defend BM's place in the metal world. Dragonforce did play a heavy inspiration for this song. They also have collab'd with BMTH
Thank you for gave your time to listen Babymetal. A lot senpai(s) already did the necessary info so hopefully you can get some picture about this three young girls (beautiful ladies as they are now...including you, Yui...where ever you are now. We miss you 😢). But aside from those opinions who doubt this band, im just wanna say if three girls not even 18 years old can command such crowd...they must have something unique and powerfull enough to do it. Powerfull enough for the fans to denied they are not a cult but almost like one 😂. Check out Headbangeeerr live performance, i forgot the exact channel/link..sorry. This band are not your typically (metal) band, Babymetal have their own (sub)genre, their own way of performances. Lastly, im not native of english so pardon my bad english.
Nice reaction! The Dragonforce thing is clarified, I think 😉 It´s not easy to get, but BABYMETAL is the WHOLE package, and that includes the audience! Yes, the most visible and audible thing of it are the three young ladies. The whole thing was built around Su-Metal (17 at this time), the main vocalist, and her extremely beautiful and powerful voice. But as you could hear in this, Yuimetal (15) and Moametal (also 15 in this) are very good singers, too! The band is called "Kami Band" (East) and consists of world class session musicians. In this piece all four of them are from Japan. In BABYMETAL everybody is doing what they do best. The writing team does the song writing, the girls do the singing and the dancing (the performance as a whole), the musicians of the backing band do the music and the crowd does the atmosphere! You will get it as soon as you attend one of their live concerts. They are incredible live! Lately Su-Metal did her first song lyrics, she is the credited lyricist for the song "Divine Attack" of their concept album "The Other One". A good song for a reaction, too! And you will hear the "Kami Band West", consisting of session musicians from the US. If you really insist on seeing the "craftsmen" (pls don´t hate me for this, but in my view most musicians are exactly that. Some very few are real artists, the most are craftsmen and most of them are really good at their craft, don´t get me wrong!), try "Rondo of Nightmare" with the intro "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" from BABYMETAL, the Budokan 2014 live version.. It is a Su-Metal solo, rather dark song, but here the musicians have THEIR piece, too. And they really shine in this! You might become jealous, they are outstanding musicians, absolute masters of their craft. Another one would be "Kagerou" with the Kami Band intro, showing the Kami Band West. Masters of their craft, too!
Thanks for this reaction. I see a bunch of comments who tell only half the story. I'll try and clear up some things and make it more nuanced. The producer that kicked this all off, used to work with bands, but music by bands like metal music just all got shoved out of the charts by J-Pop idols (in part because some of those companies found a way to break the charts, sort of loop hole in the rules) and the producer was asked to work at the kids division. And in part like in the west, rock and metal have become less popular. He noticed a 11 year old talented singer, with an unusual loud style of singing. So he thought, maybe, just maybe he can take her and have her be the lead singer with loud metal music he loves. In far chance and hopes that this could make bands music, especially metal, more popular again in Japan. He told his management about this idea and obviously (because bands music like metal wasn't making money) they told him no, to much of a financial risk, any investment would with a high likely hood be a loss. Even he himself was very unsure if this would even work. He also kept asking others for advice, including a former CEO of the company and he said: if you are passionate about this idea, try to do it, otherwise you will forever be left wondering. So he made sure he kept himself close to her, so when the moment allowed for it, he could do his project idea. And it actually did happen. So eventually he was allowed to do it as part of an other project and without the company investing any additional money. They started out with just 3 girls and a backing tape, building up a fanbase and re-investing money from merch and tickets into Babymetal. As he didn't have a marketing budget they released an MV on a shoe string budget on TH-cam, a platform which used to be a lot less popular in Japan than in the west. And Babymetal got a bit of a foreign audience and little girls doing metal kind of went viral in a small way and a couple of videos later, they had a MV go viral in a big way. By then they were already doing some what bigger shows with a live band. So they went on their first world tour, the girls were just turned 15 and 16 years old. Because of their western popularity online they ended up being put on the mainstage at a metal festival in the UK: Sonisphere (2014). Which made metal and rock music press publish a bunch of articles, spreading it further. When people say phenomenon, that's Babymetal, their are unique, started their own sub-genre of metal and an element of viral success. But the only reason why it all works, was because of talent and so much hard work of everyone involved. It worked, Babymetal has become a metal gateway band, supposedly caused sales of metal music to go up in Japan, sales from Japan for both foreign and domestic metal bands. Babymetal because they are girls, well young women now, (some TV news program in Japan claimed) 1/3 of Babymetal fans are girls/women and it's definitely higher percentage than most metal bands. And because of all this and their unique and surprising... setup, Babymetal sparked a wave of interest in the west for Japanese bands. Some of those in the west were like: "but they don't play any instruments", so people pointed out: "well, groups like Band-Maid, etc. so" this was a huge boost to bands in Japan getting a western audience. There have been smaller waves before in the 90s or whatever, but the Internet really helps get an international audience. Babymetal's highest charting album in the US (a country known for having mostly English speaking acts in the charts) on the rock/metal album Billboard chart: #1. Which is a first for the whole of Asia. And they have a lot of records, especially: youngest artist to perform at venue X and venue Y, first every Japanese act to perform at Wembley Arena in the UK (2016), etc. Babymetal is a live performance power house, that's their main thing. In some sense the music is the sound track to their live performances, at least I feel that without seeing a video, just the music, a large part of the Babymetal experience is missing something. That doesn't diminish the love fans have for the live musicians, etc. Until recently last year, the band was less into view in Blu-ray's released and fans were complaining about it. Not showing the band seems to happen more often for a new song, because they want to show of the new performance of the vocal point of Babymetal. Babymetal also pretty often does collabs with other bands they like and even started to organize their own festival in Japan to showcase other bands. And they also got a lot of recognition from well known metal artists who understood what they are doing and thus showed themselves taking photos with them and not talking bad about them. Because, Babymetal got lots and lots of haters, as you can imagine, 'pop group doing metal' is not your average metal band. But Babymetal has again and again proven themselves to be amazing perfomers, gaining respect from a large part of the metal community. And a guilty pleasure for 'haters', who say: "they aren't metal", if they aren't metal, they are clearly the loudest pop group in existance. they also got recognition from the other side, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are fans, Lady Gaga even had their on her own tour in the US as an opening band for 4 shows. Babymetal's lead singer is known for her 'pipes'. It's not easy for these kids (at the time) gaining the respect of the metal community, but they did. There are lots of vocalists who don't play instruments, but are very well known and respected. So why not her too ?
Subscribed for more. Rondo of Nightmare was suggested, I would suggest that as a next video to react to, make sure you pick a 7 minute video from Budokan Black Night 2014.
@@autohmae Here's a something about Koba you may not know. Did you know that Koba can play guitar. And i'm talking about classical-metal style shredding like Yngwie Malmsteen. I only found this out last week. So much intresting information about Babymetal and Koba is just hidden away in obscure interviews.
@@Ryujin170 Actually, maybe I can add some info: Koba isn't and doesn't want to be the center of attention. I don't know the quality of his playing, he was in a band as guitarist, from what we know, probably nothing special, the band name isn't even known. If they even released any music at all. He doesn't use his own playing for Babymetal studio recordings of songs, but he sometimes plays guitar when they are working on a song. He did do some studio work for the very first Babymetal song Doki Doki Morning (they didn't have the budget) but he said he doesn't really remember if any of that was included in the final version. What is also interesting: an other member of the that band he was in he had invited at the first real own Babymetal show, at Rockmaykan in Tokyo, basically to show what he has done/created/working on. Turns out, this guy is 1 of the guys involved in Summer Sonic festival and was so impressed he really wanted Babymetal to perform at festival. But the girls in Babymetal were busy during the festival with Sakura Gakuin things, so it was a scheduling conflict, so he organized that Babymetal would perform at the comedians stage, which is near the food court, not a real music performance stage. Thus allowing Babymetal more freedom when to perform without causing scheduling conflicts for other bands (setting a record of youngest performers at the festival, even getting some free PR because of it). Just search for: Babymetal Summer Sonic 2012. Babymetal over the years had come back multiple times to perform at Summer Sonic and in 2017 they performed main stage.
@@autohmae OK, you did know. 😊 The only reason I mentioned it was so you could rebuff any comments about Koba not being a metalhead because he worked at Amuse. I know I've already had elitists come at me with teeth bared for daring to refer to Koba as a metalhead. I managed to shut them up. I wish I had known this bit of info then, it would have helped. As far as I'm concerned, if you're learning to shred like Malmsteen when you're a kid, you're going to be way better than your average guitarist. It just shows that Koba could have been a rock or metal performer if he had wanted to, but probably didn't. Oh, I know he doesn't want to be in the limelight; he is more camera shy than bigfoot. It's this and Japan's culture of privacy that make some facts about Babymetal seem like myths, and some myths sound like facts. Some facts about the groups origins seem to be unatainable even after 13+ years.
The intensity with which you kicked yourself must have been astounding when you learned that Dragonforce co created this song with them. Babymetal takes inspiration from many great bands and genres. And in many cases, makes it better.
Baby Metal (the three teenagers Su was 16 and Moa and Yui were 14, at the time) + Kamy Band (the musicians) are under the Fox God's protection. 😅 to bring awesome music to our existence.
Babymetal fans are so nice, me, not so much. For someone who claims they are into experiencing new music, you sure bring a lot pre-conceptions as to how things should be presented, what elements are acceptable, even the name. In doing so, you completely miss the magic of that night or how three young girls, who had worked hard for years on their craft at this point, enraptured 22,000 souls. By continuously referencing the simularity of the music (while making faces) to Thru The Fire And Flames, one gets the impression you made the assumption it was pirated. Not a very charitable reaction.
Given that I had no prior knowledge when I watched it, my reaction was genuine-I don’t believe in faking it. I didn’t make any claims about how it “should” sound or what’s acceptable. And regarding the name, I’m not sure what you’re referring to. I simply stated, “it’s not my cup of tea.” We’re all entitled to our own preferences, right?
A fun fact, as far as I can remember, Herman Li said that the guitar lines of Road of Resistances are more difficult than their Fire Through The Flames. When they helped Babymetal arranging the guitar lines, they thought this song would never be played live with a backup band, so they made it more difficult in the studio.
Interesting aside for you related to your t-shirt: Sleep Token were chosen as the opening act for BABYMETAL's July 2019 show in London. They were pretty much unknown at the time.
Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥 I'm glad to see more reactors getting into this group in such a special moment with the girls recently finished a couple of days doing their own festival with bands such Polyphia and Electric Callboy which they also released a fantastic new collab last week and getting everyone crazy. They also played this classic epic anthem and everyone enjoyed it in all of their setlist, is a song they don't wanna miss. Before to continue with the info in my comment lemme ask you kindly please be open minded with this group, you won't see another band or project like them around, they're not like those regular bands following the same formula they didn't reach global and international status for doing that, trust me, they're the reasons why you are listening all those Japanese females bands bc there was a before and after when they broke the metal scene with this new sound. Also one of the reasons the musicians are not the main focus in this project is because the front women of this group are the girls, in fact, nowadays none of these musicians you saw here are playing since last year for various reasons, such one of them married, the other one got his own project (pretty much everyone), another one died, etc etc, so it's really hard to get all the members of this group staying in this project, and they were not even the first original musicians of the band, even the girls suffered a huge lost when one of them left the group, so please kindly take these notes in mind bc is not a easy task to make a huge project like this when the girls started so young and knowing nothing about the metal scene, today I'm pretty sure they know and love more metal bands than you lol BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, she's 26. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, she's 24. -YuiMetal- scream and dance, former member since 2018. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 21 and is the new official member since April 1st last year. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. _Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce, and is all about facing your own path without looking back. Here's your answer why they sound so similar to DragonForce, you'll see a lot of tributes and homages in their to many metal bands, the producer and creator KobaMetal is a massive metalhead fan and sometimes you won't even notice the tribute bc he knows a lot of bands The wall of death is insane , is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride. This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015 series of concerts, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena, is the last song of the encore they performed and finishing the show. By this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment. With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages. The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians who were send to help the girls with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males. BM fans love some members of this band but none of them are official members of this group not even permanent, they only play live, so when you hear album tracks remember they aren't playing there. In this case they are: - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording certain songs. - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar or golden in other moments. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japanese music scene. At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to making them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed to X-Japan saying it at live concerts too. If you like this type of metal genre then you're gonna love another previous song from first album called *"Ijime Dame Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 and witness a precious and epic moment on their career. You can find that clip in the official channel but just be careful coz sometimes is getting blocked issues. Next suggestion: - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997 held in 2013, Gans Tomas got this clip safe to react under Head Bangya title. Last week they released a new collab along with Electric Callboy but i won't recommend that song yet until you listen a couple of more songa and get what is this group all about. See you next time. 🦊🤘🔥

Compare it to western solo artists who also have a more or less anonymous backing band. Just look at for example Michael Jackson, he and the dancers get the spotlight while the band is in the back. One factor for this is the stage design, especially in recent years Babymetal have center stages for the big shows in Japan (from which most live videos are) and because the girls need the space the band is somewhere at the back. In smaller venues they are much closer to the band and in some recent live videos you could see more of the band. However since about 5 years the band wears masks. One of the reasons is that they have a band of American musicians for the extensive world tours and they would not fit visually into the Babymetal lore. But as the singer Su-metal said: Don't think, just feel. Just enjoy watching three young ladies having the time of their lives performing to heavy music and smile with them.
Have not been a big metal fan before but due to Guitar Hero 3 I know and loved "Through the fire and flames" and immediately recognized that the guitar parts as a rip off from that song. Finding out about the creating of that songs made all plausible. My metal journey actually started when my country again decided to take last place in Eurovision Song Contest instead promoting a band that was unknlwn to me but going viral in the metal fan base - Electric/Eskimo Callboy. I just love their music. In the comment section you could find "Babymetal" as similar style and one day I finally wanted to know what "Babymetal genre" sounds like. It took me by surprise, that it is acutally 3 young girls. Fell in love. I even saw Sakura Gakuin and the speech of Suzuka (come on guys, you wouldnt even listen to your own kids speech, if you neednt).
to see the kami band shine watch "rondo of nightmare with mischiefs of metal gods intro". each member gets a solo before the singer su metal comes out.
They toured the US in 2019 with Avatar, the Swedish metal band, as their opening act. Avatar's lead singer Johannes Eckerström, said Babymetal was not what he thought of a band, rather they, were more like Cirque du Soleil. Babymetal is an idol group. Idols in Japan are groups (usually young women) that sing and dance with a backing track or in some cases a live band (like K-Pop). So the 3 women are Babymetal. Typically idols do J-pop music but there is sub-genre called alternative idol where they sing and dance to very non-pop music. Babymetal was one of the 1st and still the most successful. They've opened for Metallica and Guns-N-Roses, toured with Korn and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Just last month Dragonforce opened for Babymetal and Dethklok, in the dual headlining Babyklok tour. Babymetal and Electric Callboy just released a collab "Ratatata". Babymetal was one of the 1st Japanese metal/groups to get noticed in the West. The other bands acknowledge their trailblazing.
People in the comments already explain the Dragon Force thing. Babymetal have a lot of friends , Tim Henson and Scott LePage from Polyphia and Tom Morello also recorded guitars to Babymetal , Alissa White Gluz from Arch enemy recorded some vocals. And they colab with Bring me the Horizon , FHero and recently with Electric Callboys They suported Red Hot Chilli Pepers , Lady Gaga , Metallica , Guns and Roses and others Hope you watch some more songs from them Thank you 🤘🦊

I see I'm late to the party. 😁 So, you already know that DragonForce is actually involved in this song, BABYMETAL is the three young ladies, they are backed by a backing band formed by session musicians known as Kami Band and that the choreo is a very important part of what they do. Don't worry, I used to think just like you. Actually I used to be a metal elitist. I just accepted they are incredibly good at what they do and stopped questioning such things. So, open your mind and enjoy what is probably one of the best live acts in the world.
BABYMETAL is the three girls, the Kami Band are semi permanent session musicians who are insanely good. You need to know, the fans are full on fans of the girls. They are treated like gold and truly loved. You need to go to a live show to really get the vibe. It’s like a crowd of protective big brothers and uncles. lol. They have ensured that the girls are never sexualised in any way - it’s cute - not sexy. Mind you Moa has grown up defying that rule lol. 🤟🏻
You have a good ear; this is a Dragonforce song. Herman and Sam play on the album version. BABYMETAL are an Idol Pop trio. The KAMI BAND comprises session musicians in different configurations depending on the date and location. Watch them make 10,000 new fans as they perform IIJIME, DAME, ZETTAI (Bullying Is Totally Uncool), at SONISPHERE 2014. Then try some of their most recent stuff, which has a totally different sound.
Sugoi! Good reaction. And yes, you can be a Maidiac AND a member of "The One" (others will explain). I've seen BABYMETAL and BAND-MAID live, and neither are to be missed! Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult #kawaiimetal #metalAF
Biggest Japanese cultural export in recent years. Congratulations on finally doing this. At that age, they couldn't possibly understand just how epic this really was.
When was the last time you listened to *Through the Fire & Flames?* When Guitar Hero was still around? lol Not to disrespect, but even though Herman Lee wrote the guitar parts of this song for *BABYMETAL,* it in no way sounds like TTFAF. Especially not to the extent that you seemed to think. Just saying. Thx for the upload. I was entertained. Have a LIKE. 👍🏻
First time for me hearing this song. Never been into power metal so I had to go to listen to the Dragonforce song. Yes, it sounds exactly the same. But the reason has already been explained.
Ah! So you have found Babymetal. A totally different universe. For me they have three periods 2010-2018: The young period. Producing lots of bangers. The most productive period. In a reply to this message I will give a list of what I like. 2019-2023: The finding yourself period. Some good stuff like Papaya and BxMxC and some more out of character stuff like Monochrome. Not bad but I was not sure about them. 2024: Now. It seems like things are happening. They seem energetic and more fun and personal again. My belief in them is renewed.
Here is a list of my favorit songs from the young period, in alphabetical order. * Babymetal Death (Live, This is not really a song. It is their presentation. And there are many different ones. The most epic is in Legend 1997 in 2013). * Catch me if you can (Live, Cute ply with an Ogre) * Doki Doki Morning (MV, their first song, they are so small, 13 and 11, and it is really good) * Gimme chocolate (Live, everyone react to this, very mixed feelings about that among fans, I like it, but not all do) * GJ (Live, Black Baby Metal i.e. Moa and Yui. Fun and catchy stuff. Captions shall be on) * Headbanger (Live, the one and only standard reaction video, do not miss this, Legend 1997) * Ijme, fame, zettai (Live, one fun thing is to see their western breakthrough on Sonisphere. You see the audience go from disbelief to loving it.) * Megitsune (MV, their best music movie and a very good song, must see. The live is also OK, but the MV is 1000 times better.) * Road of Resistance (Live, the one you just saw) * Rondo of nightmares (Live, With the mischief of the Kami gods, some shredding, beautiful singing of Su) * Sis Anger (Live, Black Baby Metal, very hard, they simply hate the audience, captions on) * Tales of destenies (Live, their only really prog performance. They do it really well, If prog is your thing, a must listen) * Yava (Live, my favorite, it is so good, and actually seldom reacted to)
The finding yourself period I have, more or less, ignored. Some love it. Its not bad, just not very interesting to me. Here is a small list of what I like * BxMxC (MV, hard rap) * Pa pa ya (Live, super party! With F. HERO)
Lastly, now. Here are two bangers * Metali (MV, party!, with Tom Morello) * Ratatatata (MV, party!, with Electric Cowboy, sure a must see, this will be super viral 2024 and on every party around the globe.)
Really wouldn't put 2018 in the young period but more to the finding yourself period since they were literally trying to find themselves when Yui got out.
@@Tyyppl The first tour without Yui was May 2018. And it was official that she was not in the loop October 2018. So sure, problems started 2018. Its not very important actually. I just took the last year for when Yui was a member of the band. And you took the first year she was not in the band. That happened to be the same year 🙃
People suggesting this song as a first impression of Babymetal to reactors is akin to sabotage. It’s a collaboration with another well known band so I can understand the confusion and it’s not the first time this has happened and it nearly happened again this week with another reactor. It’s my favorite Babymetal video but it needs to be a reactors third or later reaction so they know what is Babymetal and what is DragonForce. Appreciate the reaction though and good ear!
@@teckreactions Kitsune translates to Fox. Its also what a Babymetal fan, individually, is call, or "The One" collectivly. The hand gesture Babymetal uses is that of a "Shadow Puppet" Fox instead of the traditional Metal Horns. So, Put your Kitsune UP!! mean put up the Fox Sign!! Put your Kitsune UP!!
lol, just wait until you get around to _Tales of the Destinies_ 😂 (hint: it's a tribute to Dream Theater's _Dance of Eternity_ ) fyi: no 2 songs sound the same ; they've pretty much set out to mash-up with most every style of metal , with varying levels of j-pop infused in to it. yes, the focus is the 3 ladies ... and looks like the professors have already arrived with their dissertations 😝, so i'll not go on repeat
As obsessive as you were with the Dragonforce comparison, know that only a couple of their songs could be considered power metal. They explore all kinds of metal genres as well as creating the kawaii metal genre.
LOL🤘🦊🤘
This ^^
It was written ‘with dragon force’
The three women are Babymetal. The band is called the Kami Band. I’d highly recommend listening to them now. Their voices have matured. In this there is Su Metal (lead), Moa Metal, and Yui Metal.
Yui had to leave due to medical issues. She has been replaced by Momo Metal.
The recap of the lineup nested up neatly by timeline:
2010 SuMetal MoaMetal, YuiMetal, Original Trio.
2018 Yui leaves for health reasons. Su and Moa continues alone
2019 The Avengers, a group of 3 unnamed backups rotate in Yui'a place (avegers have been identified as: Kano, Riho, and Momoko)
2023 MomoMetal, one of the avengers, steps in permanantly in Yui's place, and is now a part of the Main Trio

Got it.
Considering I had other frame of reference, it’s all I had to go on. Definitely will listen to more though!

Who writes the music?
@@teckreactions They work with a number of outside songwriters. The lead singer, Su-Metal, did write the lyrics for "Divine Attack" on their most recent album though. Moametal and former member Yuimetal wrote the lyrics to Song 4 on their first album.

@@Tyyppl Thanks. I almost exclusively listen to the live albums from concerts, but I still shouldn't have mixed the studio tracklists up. 😅
BABYMETAL's choreo serves at least two real purposes:
1. It is interpretive, bespoke for each song and relates to the meaning of the song or a lyric;
BABYMETAL is not metal band but 'METAL DANCE UNIT'(in official).😁
And they are already adults now.
Noted. Thanks for the feedback 🧡💙
Is BABYMETAL just the three dancers/singers? Or is it the full band too?

🤘🦊
When you say “manufactured,” what exactly does that mean?
Producer Key Kobayashi is an avid metal head, stuck in the J-Pop idol industry. He started a passion project to revitalize a dying metal scene in Japan in 2010, by fusing J-pop and metal, which became Babymetal. So they were formed as part of a talent agency idol group, had their team of song writers and composers, etc, much like a pop group does.
@@Ganimal83 very interesting. I’ll have to do some light reading on that.

Interesting.
Looking forward to learning about it.

I saw that but wanted to get a good background on them first.
@@teckreactions The Electric Callboy collaboration is 11/10. And it shows how good the girls are at adapting to anything.
This video is in 2015 at the "Saitama Super Arena (SSA) with BABYMETAL original trio of Suzuka Sakamoto aka Su-Metal, Moa Kikuchi aka Moametal and Yui Mizuno aka Yuimetal. Yui Mizuno left BABYMETAL in 2018 cited health issues". Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult.
My question is… how is BABYMETAL metal when it’s actually the Kami Band playing the metal?
@@Grington300 that’s fair. Thanks for the info. I’ll keep that in mind going forward.
@@teckreactions Thanks - and apologies if I sounded angry or worse, that was certainly not the case nor was it my intention.
Appreciate the kind feedback. Looking forward to more.
I would love to see Amaranthe and Sleep Token!
It doesn't matter if you don't like the dance, as long as you don't look down on it. people like them. This is a really fun band
Not looking down on it at all. Just not my thing.
@@teckreactions If you don't like it, it's your choice. Don't underestimate bands you don't like, just respect them...
@@gaadamanfaat1238 Where was the part where I said I didn't respect them?
👍👍"Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational BABYMETAL!" Welcome to the fox hole. 🦊🦊🦊 🖖❤
i suggest rondo of nightmare w/ mischiefs of Metal Gods intro. That song highlights the band and the main singer very well
Babymetal is just the girls but the backing band is apart of the lore so they’re involved in some way. This isn’t a typical sounding Babymetal song this is more power metal than they usually are.
Su and the girls are a force of nature!!! Non stop energy. Best live performance ever
The 3 girls are Babymetal and the main focus. The band known as the Kami band is made up of session musicians and are all currently American, as i assume the Japanese members have other commitments or things they want to do.
Interesting.

Cool!
Think of it s Ballet or Opera, the orchestra in in the pit plating the music while the Opers singers or Ballet Dancers are on the stage.

I am an ardent BABYMETAL fan and also a fan of Yoyoka, a now 14 year old drummer.
Ian Paice and Robert Plant reacted to her drum cover video, she did a session with Billy Sheehan, and recently she took a video with Tom Morello.
I would like to ask BABYMETAL's reaction, of course, but Yoyoka's reaction, too, please.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I, a big fan of Band-Maid and BABYMETAL, am so happy to see this video. (Your questions including for Dragonforce vibe will be answered by other viewers 😄 )
The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet.
Thank you for watching!
All good.

Briefly, Babymetal is:
Suzuka Nakamoto/Su-metal
Moa Kikuchi/Moametal
Yui Mizuno/Yuimetal (left in 2018 due to undisclosed health issues)
Momoko Okazaki/Momometal (Official mew member since 2023)
The backing band is a rotating cast of session musicians (Kami Band) who only perform at live shows.
Yava and Syncopation are hidden gems, only really hard core fans know that those are the real 10/10 songs😅
There is so much more to BABYMETAL that I am not going into. Let other fans give you that info. I would like to remind you that most of the songs I said here are old songs and should be seen as product of their times.
Sweet!
Well. BabyMetal needs its backing band
"Kami Band" When they performing live. So yea
I wasn’t sure who was “BABYMETAL” and who wasn’t.
@@teckreactions Babymetal = 3 girls.

The relationship between BabyMetal and Dragon Force goes back a long way.
Babymetal ft Dragonforce - Road of Resistance Live Metal Hammer Awards 2015
You’re actually pretty spot on since Dragonforce guitarists helped composed this song in studio.
Headbangerr and megitsune for the next reaction yeahh

You're right, this song was written by Dragonforce for Babymetal

The only reason I mentioned it was so you could rebuff any comments about Koba not being a metalhead because he worked at Amuse.
@@Ryujin170 ohh, I've been a Babymetal fan since first few days of Jan 2016 (I noticed them Dec 2016) so I've been around for a while.
Not a very charitable reaction.
completely agree
Given that I had no prior knowledge when I watched it, my reaction was genuine-I don’t believe in faking it.
I didn’t make any claims about how it “should” sound or what’s acceptable. And regarding the name, I’m not sure what you’re referring to. I simply stated, “it’s not my cup of tea.”
We’re all entitled to our own preferences, right?
A fun fact, as far as I can remember, Herman Li said that the guitar lines of Road of Resistances are more difficult than their Fire Through The Flames. When they helped Babymetal arranging the guitar lines, they thought this song would never be played live with a backup band, so they made it more difficult in the studio.
STAND UP AND SHOUT!!!
JUSTICE FOREVER 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Check out the longer version of catch me if you can.I think that will kind of clear up your confusion about the band
Interesting aside for you related to your t-shirt: Sleep Token were chosen as the opening act for BABYMETAL's July 2019 show in London. They were pretty much unknown at the time.
Nice!!!!
Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥
I'm glad to see more reactors getting into this group in such a special moment with the girls recently finished a couple of days doing their own festival with bands such Polyphia and Electric Callboy which they also released a fantastic new collab last week and getting everyone crazy.
Also one of the reasons the musicians are not the main focus in this project is because the front women of this group are the girls, in fact, nowadays none of these musicians you saw here are playing since last year for various reasons, such one of them married, the other one got his own project (pretty much everyone), another one died, etc etc, so it's really hard to get all the members of this group staying in this project, and they were not even the first original musicians of the band, even the girls suffered a huge lost when one of them left the group, so please kindly take these notes in mind bc is not a easy task to make a huge project like this when the girls started so young and knowing nothing about the metal scene, today I'm pretty sure they know and love more metal bands than you lol
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are:
*SuMetal* lead vocalist, she's 26.
Here's your answer why they sound so similar to DragonForce, you'll see a lot of tributes and homages in their to many metal bands, the producer and creator KobaMetal is a massive metalhead fan and sometimes you won't even notice the tribute bc he knows a lot of bands
The wall of death is insane , is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride.
In this case they are:
- Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording certain songs.
Next suggestion:
- Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997 held in 2013, Gans Tomas got this clip safe to react under Head Bangya title.
Last week they released a new collab along with Electric Callboy but i won't recommend that song yet until you listen a couple of more songa and get what is this group all about.

- Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday).
th-cam.com/video/BSjv9OYtWZ0/w-d-xo.html
- Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live.

If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is.
th-cam.com/video/ESzY9dL613Q/w-d-xo.html
- Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal.

- Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014.

- Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro.

- Road Of Resistance live in Japan official live MV, be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case.

- Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts.

Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo.
- GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song.

Ok
herman li and sam totman write the guitar parts of the song.
And they colab with Bring me the Horizon , FHero and recently with Electric Callboys
They suported Red Hot Chilli Pepers , Lady Gaga , Metallica , Guns and Roses and others
Hope you watch some more songs from them

I see I'm late to the party. 😁
So, you already know that DragonForce is actually involved in this song, BABYMETAL is the three young ladies, they are backed by a backing band formed by session musicians known as Kami Band and that the choreo is a very important part of what they do. Don't worry, I used to think just like you. Actually I used to be a metal elitist. I just accepted they are incredibly good at what they do and stopped questioning such things. So, open your mind and enjoy what is probably one of the best live acts in the world.
Welcome to the foxhole🦊🤘
Come on guys, the choreography is brilliant😊
Neat!
Any way you slice it, amazing performance.
Sugoi! Good reaction. And yes, you can be a Maidiac AND a member of "The One" (others will explain). I've seen BABYMETAL and BAND-MAID live, and neither are to be missed!

Appreciate it. I listened to it again right after I stopped recording to make sure I was t crazy. I stand by it.

Style, yes for the obvious reasons. Sound, no..
First time for me hearing this song. Never been into power metal so I had to go to listen to the Dragonforce song. Yes, it sounds exactly the same. But the reason has already been explained.
@@Rinssi_from_Finland Tell me you're etarded, without telling me you're etarded.
Well you started with a great song. Cool reaction man.
Thanks!
Ah! So you have found Babymetal. A totally different universe. For me they have three periods
2010-2018: The young period.
* Catch me if you can (Live, Cute ply with an Ogre)
* Doki Doki Morning (MV, their first song, they are so small, 13 and 11, and it is really good)
* Gimme chocolate (Live, everyone react to this, very mixed feelings about that among fans, I like it, but not all do)
* GJ (Live, Black Baby Metal i.e. Moa and Yui. Fun and catchy stuff. Captions shall be on)
* Headbanger (Live, the one and only standard reaction video, do not miss this, Legend 1997)
* Ijme, fame, zettai (Live, one fun thing is to see their western breakthrough on Sonisphere. You see the audience go from disbelief to loving it.)
* Megitsune (MV, their best music movie and a very good song, must see. The live is also OK, but the MV is 1000 times better.)
* Road of Resistance (Live, the one you just saw)
* Rondo of nightmares (Live, With the mischief of the Kami gods, some shredding, beautiful singing of Su)
* Sis Anger (Live, Black Baby Metal, very hard, they simply hate the audience, captions on)
* Tales of destenies (Live, their only really prog performance. They do it really well, If prog is your thing, a must listen)
* Yava (Live, my favorite, it is so good, and actually seldom reacted to)
The finding yourself period I have, more or less, ignored. Some love it. Its not bad, just not very interesting to me. Here is a small list of what I like
* BxMxC (MV, hard rap)
* Pa pa ya (Live, super party! With F. HERO)
Lastly, now. Here are two bangers
* Metali (MV, party!, with Tom Morello)
* Ratatatata (MV, party!, with Electric Cowboy, sure a must see, this will be super viral 2024 and on every party around the globe.)

As obsessive as you were with the Dragonforce comparison, know that only a couple of their songs could be considered power metal. They explore all kinds of metal genres as well as creating the kawaii metal genre.
Great.
