They did this video right. They used pies that we actually eat in America (although I'm sure most Americans never had eggnog pie), and the pies looked like they were cooked correctly. There was no crazy bacon and broccoli pie topped with M&Ms or something.

While I have never had eggnog pie, it looks and sounds to be very similar to a buttermilk chess pie which is highly popular in the South and is a personal favourite of mine.
I completely agree that those pies look to be made correctly unlike a lot of other times I have seen food presented on Facts. The Southern cuisine one still gets me annoyed as I see pale imitations of what we actually make passed off as good examples of the cuisine. Those biscuits and gravy in particular were so sad.

You know what bugs me about these food videos is they never give them tea or coffee to go with this, and desserts really do pair well with and sometimes need a drink to cut them, so to speak.

For the next one, I suggest Strawberry pie (with a mountain of freshly whipped cream), Boston creme pie, sweet potatoe pie, and if you're willing to accept it as a pie (since it is truly a custard pie) oreo cheesecake. Also thumbs up for getting the filling depths closer to the proper American aesthetic than before.

So Facts seems to be reading the comments. Last pies they did had tons of crust...about equal ratio to filling. That is definitely not how they make pies in the US. However, they nailed it this time. And I'm not just saying that because they liked the pies either.
This video is missing Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie & Boston Cream Pie. Never in my life heard of Eggnog pie but judging by their reactions I should try it. Also you're damn right Cherry pie tastes better with ice cream, so does apple pie.

The one they say "has a lot of filling" is average. The rest are sad.
I expect they made them in Ireland, and just didn't quite "get it" how they should be made, or maybe had difficulty getting the correct ingredients. That cherry pie looked sooooooooo dark, so skinny, and that was pretty amateurish pastry lattice work on top.

These pies look about right. We do thin flakey crusts with lots of filling and not usually overly sweet. We'll serve some warm with vanilla ice cream. The crusts are not powdery like a cheesecake pressed crumb crust. They do not look like tarts. The previous pie video seems to not capture the American pie style. The classic pumpkin pie is gorgeous and not flat at all even without an upper crust. I encourage your Irish group of thirsty and hungry testers to continue trying American pies and cakes. We do great bakery products ! Also love watching any liquor testings as they are hysterical. Love you all!

OK for those of you who have never heard of or tasted egg nog pie, here is the recipe for what my family knew as rum pie.
Ingredients: 6 whole eggs, one scant cup of sugar, one packet of unflavored gelatin,1/2 cup of cold water, one pint of heavy (whipping ) cream,1/4 cup of light or dark rum, one nine inch pie crust preferably graham cracker, shaved dark or semi sweet chocolate or cocoa powder.
Beat eggs and sugar until the batter is light yellow and smooth. Pour gelatin powder into 1/2 cup of cold water and stir until dissolved then place water in a pan and heat until it starts to boil. Then carefully pour it a little at a time into the egg mixture to keep the eggs from setting
Then whip the heavy cream until it reaches the stiff peak stage and while doing so gently add the rum being careful not to remove the air from the whipped cream. Then GENTLY fold the cream into the egg mixture ad place in the refrigerator until it just starts to set. Pour into a nine inch pie pan with crust and place beck in the fridge to fully set. Garnish with shaved chocolate or dust with cocoa powder.
You may have some left over after filling the pie crust. You can use it for tartlets of to fill creme puffs or what the Hell, eat it by yourself No one is looking! Enjoy!

Keylime pie, banana cream pie, caramel apple, Dutch apple, wild native blackberry pie, blueberry pie, Mississippi mud pie, shoofly pie, buttermilk pie, moon pie (he he), strawberry dream pie, grasshopper pie, banoffee pie, cheeseburger pie, etc. Thats the short list. Watching from Australia to these reactions to common foods, I have to wonder how limited the Irish diet is! It's like they find everything unusual and strange, even if it's common, like apple pie. I mean, what's next, "Ooh a cheese sandwich?! What the hell is that?!" 😳
😂 They actually did a video tasting Five Guys which is a burger chain similar to In-N-Out. One of samples was a reaction to a grilled cheese sandwich.
