The language is Sranantongo ( Sranan= Surinam ) tongo = tongue ( accent ) Surinam is a country in the north of South America. There are about 22 languages, but everybody speaks Dutch and Sranantongo. Surinam was a Dutch colony from 1667-1975 . The Dutch exchanged Nieuw (New) Amsterdam ( USA) with the British in 1667 for Surinam ( Suriname in Dutch ). Nieuw Amsterdam became New York. All time low was the slavery trade. The Dutch shipped people from Africa, India, Dutch Indies ( Indonesia) and Sri Lanka ( Dutch Ceylon ) to Surinam to work as slaves at the sugar plantations. That was a violent and crual time. All big powers in Europe did that in the 16th and 17th century, like Great Brittain, France, Portugal, Spain and later Belgium and Germany 19th century. Surinam became independant in 1975 and had a population of about 1 million people, 570.000 lives in Surinam and 350.000 in The Netherlands. There is now a discussion going on in The Netherlands if the Dutch government have to make official apologies for the slavery trade. They did recently to Indonesia another former colony.

I really like the song, singer and chorus, performing. For the time this is my favorite. Moreover, I like video on the song too.

it means "Yu no man broko mi. Mi na afu sensi" means "You can't break me, I'm half a cent" (smallest coin at the time)

"It felt true to him" ..... I don't know him but I agree. It is very pure and sincere. Nice reaction. 👌🏼

Masterpiece (though the studio version sounds a little better than the live). If the Netherlands won again with this song I'd have 0 complaints 😂

I love how when they sing yu no mang broko mi; they take the pose of the statue of Kwaku; the symbol of 'keti koti'(the cutting of the shackles) the end of slavery!

I believe the chorus is in a dialect of Tongo native to Suriname where Macrooy is from

It's Surinamese or Sranantongo, the second language of Suriname (Dutch is the official language)

I think he is "Prime evil" from a second class James Bond movie. Hence the Broccoli reference! Or maybe just from Surinam. No evil intended.
