    I think if he was at the point of purchase only, it’s easy to turn back. But at this point he’s gonna be better off getting the motor done for $1500ish and fixing that frame than to lose the $2500 he’s already in for. Spending another 2k on this quad he knows what he has vs buying another used one for 2k and seeing what he’s in for again.

    I really really liked that you informed us on how much each part will cost to the customer. Such a shame this grizzly arrived with a problem that was not easy to fix. How much a good used engine would cost for this machine?

    Back in 2020 my buddy got a Suzuki King quad 700 that the wrist pin scored to the connecting rod exactly like that he ended up using a small Dremel Stone to clean up the inside of the rod till the new wrist pin floated properly and then installed a good used cylinder and a brand new high compression piston and has had zero problems with it. But that was on his own machine not for a customer.

    • @rockspowersports

    I bought a victory vision once. Used. Was told it needed a speed sensor. I guess there was 30 or so that made it out of the factory with "the cir clip of death" dumped $5500 into a bike I just paid $9000 for rebuilding it.
    Rebuild that motor and use it as a life lesson. Stuff is either really cheap, and you fix it or it runs right, and you pay the proper amount.

    Maybe while editing you can normalize sound just a tad? Seems your voice could be a tad louder, while the sounds of Milwaukee tools/ ATV's could be quieter just a bit. Basically normalize the loud noises. There should be such a settings in your editing software, should be called like noise/sound equalization or something like that

    You would have to look at what you bought it for plus the cost of the repair. And see what the cost to replace the atv. And how much they are worth. He may brake even. Or on the other hand buy a used motor put in it and drive it hopefully for years to come. It’s a hard decision for sure. Not sure if there is even enough parts to part it out to brake even. Not sure what I would do.

Get it home and find problems you didn't notice when you bought it... Bought a 2000 fourtax 300 last fall and lucked out only a few minor thing I have fixed. It was a around the yard Quad, no mountain goat or in the mud hole type Quad...Feel for the young Guy, hope he and his Dad can come up with something, the Quad season is right around the corner...Peace People.

  • @Kingsoupturbo
    @Kingsoupturbo 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thats tough! a shame as the 660/700 parts are not badly priced. Probably time to sell it as is a project, and buy a Kymco etc. end the suffering if you can't do the work yourself. There is the temptation of course to sand down the rod end, and put a new piston in with a quick hone job. ATV's are so expensive used around this area, probably yours too, there is some value in repairing it, not much though, if it was a Grizzly 700 the value ratio would be a lot better. Poor kid!! Time for a moto-4!

    • @rockspowersports

      The Piston pin is hardened steel, by the time you got honing smooth enough it would be very oblong and still scored up. If the owner wants to try that they could but I wouldn’t do it and have my name on the rebuild.
