I like 2 things mentioned here (among others):
    1. the advantage of open back design from a practicality standpoint and eardrum health
    2. the sufficiency of a good stereo driver implementation for localization as opposed to X.1 ploughin software simulation

My favorite tech youtuber. Nice work D. I actually just bought a Game One to compare to my Audio Technica ADG1.......it was not better. It was good, but the AT just had a wider range for mids/highs and an even more open sound stage (take a look at how OPEN the ADG1 or ADG1x really are). Have you tried a pair of AT ADG1s? Honestly, I believe they are superior to the Game Series, having tried both side by side. Also, the cord is not braided, so less shirt rubbing noise, the mic is incredible (you must hear it to believe it.....my wife recorded some business presentations with it and it was studio quality imo) and its default cable is much easier to adapt to a controller (xbox one or PS4) without having to unplug it. Check it out man!

My experience after owning the GSP 500 for 5 months:
Clamping force at the beginning was insanely strong and did hurt the first few times wearing them. After a few hours of wearing them it adaped and now is alright. Still pressures too much on top of my head tho. (Already fully extended) I might buy an additional headpad to make it more comfortable on top.
Sound is amazing, it completely destroys my older turtle beach headset.
Microphone is okay, I have heard better and worse. For me personally, I liked my older turtle beach microphone more.
Overall its quite good, but the sound is the defining feature I would say.

Hey man, I hope you're doing well. I saw your comment and I'm heavily considering buying this headset but I'm worried about the earcup stitching. I've seen a lot of negative feedback for the GSP600 that the stitching gives way after a while. Have your earcups kept its quality? I know it's the GSP500 and has different earcups, this is why I'm looking into this headset instead of the GSP600.

    • @BloPsy__
      @BloPsy__ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@ontiablo Well don't look at the earcups (you can always buy something else) but more at your preferences.
500s are open backs and 600s are closed backs. Basically open backs have wider soundstage and if you're listening at high volumes the sound is not being slammed into your ears and can escape through the openings - that also means that everyone can hear what you're listening to :)
Closed backs are basically oposite of that. If you like a lot of bass, closed backs are your choice.
Adressing your actual question, the stiching is completely fine on my GSP500s after a year of use.
Also these headphones are somewhat a step into audiophile world and as such, they highly benefit from some better DAC/AMP like Schiit Fulla 3 (that's the one i am using, there is also other options).
Sure they can be used with your onboard audio card, but they may or may not sound the best.
The microphone itself also benefits from that, so if you will go into DAC/AMP make sure there is input for mic too. I tried them with my mobo soundcard, and the sound of microphone was bad thanks to that. I also equalized the mic a bit so it have a bit more bass - the stock sound is flat.

@@alimahmoud5964 hiya :) very happy to say a big YES to that! I sincerely have tried some others but these continue to delight and recently I bought (from CeX) a Creative Sound Blaster Z SBX Sound Card and the sound quality went up about 50%.
I am retired so can game, TH-cam and play music all day long and I can wear these in complete comfort all day long. These being open means the sound feels bigger with the added advantage of being cooler to wear for long periods due to heat from my ears being able to escape :)
I love having the sound controls on the headset rather than on a dangling wire.
the sound dial on right side is quite resistant to movement so I don't accidently turn it when they are hung up each night.
the mic lift up mute is a godscend and I can honestly say that it is something I will always need in a headset now.
in the past I hated my ears being encased but the foam pads on the GSP 500 are very generous and my big ears do not have anything rubbing on them giving discomfort.
another thing I love is the detachable wire into the headset - normally if your wire goes then that is the end to the equipment but with these that particular part can just be replaced - additionally it seems to be common across several of Senny's others headsets so easily swappable.
if I were to critique anything about them it would only be to say the top padding on the headband for me would be better if there were a bit more. I solved that small problem with an old fluffy sock :D chopped the end off and popped over the can onto the headband then doubled it over for extra padding. means I can pop it off for a wash whilst replacing it with another :D
so to sum up - well over a year and a half and these are still amazing - I am thinking of buying the Senny Game One as a back up - CeX normally put those out for £70 and I am very curious to see how they compare.
thank you for your questiona and I hope my reply helps you :)

But when I found it locally here in my country at a price of only 70 dollars, I reconsidered again because this category is 60 to 100 dollars, there are many headphones directed at gaming more, but the general sound quality will be unnatural and amplified

I found a fix to the head band:
Open headband to the biggest size, start bending outwards cm by cm all the way of the head band, until you’ve loosen the band, make sure you firmly hold both sides of the area you’re bending, extreme force is tested and approved (it will not brake) repeat and repeat until you like, do not over stress the hard plastic sides, position the two pressure sliders in the close together position to reduce even more the pressure under ear, It worked for me, the default clamping force was way to tight. The area between the sennheiser/GSP500 and the hard plastic sides now look straight, reposition headband to your size and wallah! the comfort is incredible now, let me know

I love my Sennheiser PC 363D set. You get the open back design, the better mic of the game zero, and a much more sensible aesthetic. It's a damn shame they've been discontinued, because that mute switch is a point of failure that gives them a limited life. The 373D's are very similar, but to get a proper audio cable you have to buy it separately for $20 as it only comes with a USB cable. On the plus side, the cable is replaceable, but I suspect that mute switch will be just as much a problem as on the 363D.

I just bought 2 weeks ago the GSP 550 Sennheiser and honestly even though the mic and sound is good it just hurts my head and gives me headhaches. I've tried every adjustable position possible but nothing changes. I use my headset a lot and after I'd say 1-2 hours I already feel it quiet strongly pressing the top of my head. Before I had the Logitech Artemis G933, mic was ok-meh sound was good and it was more confortable but I had to return it 2 times in 1 and a half year which is insane to me and this is why I wanted to change for a "better" headset. I've never done anything special with it but I had the same issues with different headset, the "7.1" kept lagging or the mic would make me sound like a robot. It was confortable though which is important and no cable but for a better headset a cable wouldn't bother me. Now though as I said yes the built quality of the GSP 550 Sennheiser is better, the sound is a bit better, microphone is really good for a headset but it's not confortable at all for me. + I just returned it because I received my cable with scratches on the golden (jack) part. That would cause my headset to cut the sound sometimes or makes my microphone lag ( Megatron style ).

This review is very accurate; base your choice on open or closed. I will say the 600s loosen up after a couple of weeks of use. If you have a large head, the pressure is at the top of headband, though it is nicely padded. Oh, the volume knob is the same; it does not move without effort.

One interesting thing I noticed on the 600s for games was that sounds (a shower for example) behind you somehow sounded louder than sounds in front of you. It was strange... I didn’t notice that with the 500s. The 500s also sounded more natural when you turned around in a circle. For the 600s, the shower sounds would get sharply louder as you were turning around. For the 500s, the shower sounds would get louder but not as sharply/abruptly. I guess this meant that the 500s have more balance. Both were great headsets but I stuck with the 500s.

used the massdrow x hifiman he350 for years. It sounds great, feels great. I can comfortably lay in my bed with them and rest my head on the driver. It's an open-back design. The only complaint is that my mic frequently picks up the audio, just a heads up for people looking to buy an open-back headset. I'd say it's worth the trade-off, and it might be less severe for other models.
Also not recommended if your ears are not very flat. On a side-note, the drivers aren't that far from your ears and it can hurt if they touch your ears for hours on end (it sometimes happens to me, but not frequently).

Fair warning to people thinking of getting one, the GSP 500 I just received today (February 18th 2019) has as much clamping force as the GSP 600 shown in this video. Just carefully holding it from the band, the cushions will touch each other and even compress a little depending on positioning.
The audio sounds great, but that was a bit of a disappointment right out of the box and I'm hoping the clamping force will be reduced at least a little after using it for a while.

    Hey Dmitri!
Do you still prefer your Game Ones, or the new GSP 500 for gaming?
I've had my G4me Zero for quite some time, and I just picked up the new GSP 600, but i feel the clamping force on the GSP 600 is quite strong, but the sound is more punchy on the GSP 600. I'm using both headsets with Sennheiser GSX 1000.

I had DT990 Pro and now I have DT1990... As good as they are... for competitive games... Both DT ones are good, but my god the pinpoint accuracy of Game one is quite something else. With DT990 or 1990 you know where people are roughly, but Game one is so exact, it's surprising. Game one was the reason I got the DT1990. I got so confused when I had 990 and game one side by side. :D

I use a dedicated microphone and pair of headphones. Mic is a cheap fifine mic on a cheap boom. Works amazing. Far better than any built in mic I’ve used. And the headphones I went with the Sennheiser hd 380 pros. Not sure how they compare to something like these but at $150 (got them for $90 on Amazon), I’m not sure they can be beat anytime soon.

Another great video, have to say the mic on these are great, deffinatly the best iv heard. As for the sound I haven't used stereo headsets for many years, I just find surround sound headsets give me far more of an edge. Weather it simulated or true. Iv used both and for me the surround sound is essential for that spacial awareness, specially in fps games.

There are some good headsets under $100 but when you go higher than that, I personally don't see a reason not to buy good headphones and a V-Moda Boompro or ModMic. You really get to pick a sound signature you like if you go that route.

Galvahnize HyperX Cloud 1, 2 or the newest one. The first one doesn't have virtual surround sound, but that is just a mediocre equalizer anyway. If you want open back, get the Philips SHP9500 with a V-Moda Boompro microphone.

I could be wrong but it looks like the frame was designed with VR/MR headsets in mind so you can easily fit them over your preferred HMD. Even if that's not the case, you may want to start reviewing other headsets with that in mind and show how they fit with an MR HMD since most of them come with no headphones whatsoever and they're gaining popularity.

  • @nerbviews

IMO - If you are looking for true comfort - look for suspension headband headsets since from what I've tried, they never seem to get the cushioning. The SteelSeries Arctis Series proved that you can add a suspension headset while making it look nice and it's super comfortable and there is almost no soreness that comes from wearing them on the top of my head and I even have found headsets far under the SteelSeries Arctis series price point with a suspension headband, and what do ya know, they're super comfortable.

Hearing what is happening in your house can be more important than you might think.
I have been swatted last year. In that night I was playing R6 Siege with a good friend of mine. Suddenly he asked me what is happening in my house he could hear people yelling "Polizei" (I'm from Germany) I first didn't believe him, because I couldn't hear anything with my GSP350, but suppenly somebody grapped my shoulder and turned me around quite forcefully and I could see three police officers standing in my room with two of them pointing their guns at me. An open back headset could have made the whole story a bitt less stressy, but I have yet to find a open headset that sounds as good as my GSP350 and which also doesn't cost too much.

Awesome you put up a video about the 500! I've been trying to gather info on them for weeks, very annoying that they're not yet available. I was initially looking at the 600, but I need open design so I can hear the door bell, or my toddler crying. I'm going to pick these up as soon as they hit the market.

Those adjustments on the top of the headband on the GSP600 are for CLAMPING FORCE! So if you found them too tight then adjust them! Please Watch Sennheiser's video of either the GSP 500 or GSP 600 on their product page to see more about them. This is a huge oversight as you say many times over that you didn't like the GSP600, simply because you have no idea how to adjust them. @HardwareCanucks

I bought the GSP 500 with intent to replace an aging pair of Game ONE's. The GSP 500's are very uncomfortable on my head compared to the Game ONE's. I have a larger head, so your experience may vary. There is a terrible pressure spot at the peak of the headband, which happens to be where they have the least amount of padding. The earpads are considerably smaller than those on the Game ONE, and the amount of adjustment in the headband is not enough to obtain a comfortable fit around the ears.

Great review Dimitry. I just purchased these like 20 minutes ago from the Sennheiser Canada site. And as many were saying, they are on backorder until early June. Under the purchase button, there is a small caption "This item has been delayed and will be shipping early June." That's ok, I can wait, because I ALSO pulled the trigger on the GSX1000 Amp, AND a Mayflower ARC as well. Ya ya ya I know, but I decided to treat myself to some nice realistic gaming sound this summer. And first week of August, my Mass Senns HD6xx's will arrive YAAAAAY :)) . This summer is gonna be a BANNER year for gaming on my end.
I have always had closed back headphones but after countless YT vids I've seen, I just KNOW i will love em. I am a big fan of large soundstage types of audio, I just don't know why I never bought an open set of cans until now. No better time like the present right?
As for the visual aspect of these cans?... I say to the "haters gonna hate", give em some time and let what cans do best [gaming audio], and I'm sure they will eventually win you over. Frankly I'm kind of annoyed at some of the comments people have made on the appearance. Get over it ok?!?! I've seen worse, as I'm sure you have if you think of it. And HEY !?!?! At least they're not pink with "hello kitty" ears, little black button nose with whiskers to apply, and a cute lil tail coming out the back of these [saw some pathetic idiot wearing these on an IG feed. Lemme ask you haters..."Would you like to wear a set of hello kitty gaming headphones to a lan party" !?!?! . . yyyyya that's what I thought.
So swallow your bravado, and give these cans some game time. Overtime, I'm sure you'll see the light. Besides, if Dimitri says they're good. . . and Brian from BadSeed Tech RAVES about them ?....then that's good enough for me. Let the games begin boyz n girlz :D

Pretty sure I'll be getting the GSP 600 in the not so distant future. I already have a great headset for my PC (Denon AH-D7000) but I need something with a mic and better noise isolation. And I need it to also work on my Xbox.
