    I feel like the build being plastic and feeling “cheap” allows them to price it competitively especially since the sound is so good and they could probably charge more. Not to mention they feel light.
    I like their approach to this product. Give gamers the best sound out there for a gaming headset but use plastic for the build to keep the price down.

      That’s a good way to think about it. The lightness is the main benefit. But I hate the creaking and cracking that these do when I pick them up or when I wear them. Love the sound and mic though.

      Helps that the plastic Sennheiser use isn't quite as cheap or easily breakable as other headphone/headset manufacturers. Plus because they're so light I find you can wear them for hours as they're so comfy.

    You were right about the comfort, but wrong about the rest. The PC38X is a great headset, but if falls short in the comfort department. The H6Pro makes up for that, and that's why it is the 2021 Headset of the Year. The PC38X held that title in 2020.

    As and audiophile I agree with your statments about the "sound stage doesn't t equal a competitive edge", sound stage just makes the game feel more like your there because things that are far sound far while things that are close sound close. The thing that gives a competitive edge in audio is imaging, and with headphones like the HD 800s and HD 800 which have great imaging, basically give you wall hacks.

    Bought the PC38X based on overwhelming reviews by everyone, and surprised by a relatively negative review from you TBH.
    But your comments are fair and I don't think you have to praise the product if everyone else does.
    Build quality is sub-par, but I quite like the sound. I know there would be compromises for a US$130 headset and I am fine with it. Competitive advantage is a STUPID idea IMHO.

    So what I'm hearing from you in the middle bit is that what makes the PC38X actually sound quite good for music and in general is that it has "tight" bass. Not too much and when it hits it hits quick and goes away quickly. So for your Halo example you might actually want a headset that sounds objectively worse (like the H6Pro Open that I tried), but because it has boosted and muddy bass, it might highlight a quick footstep from an enemy more distinctly since the bass notes would hit heavier and might decay more slowly than the very "tight" and musical PC38X. I do feel like you might be able to tweak your EQ for the game you're playing, and I think the PC38X is a much better starting point than some other headsets for this. That said, I have heard of some complaints of people having their drivers bottoming out in these if driven too hard in the lower ranges. I haven't had any issue yet.

    Someone make this dude a full metal pair of headsets, completely custom to his head. Not sure if he knows, but the build on headsets is not "exactly matched to your head size and with slots for your glasses and hat". I have a wide range of Sennheiser headphones and use them daily, for hours on a row. Heck, I usually put my headphones on my head without even listening to anything, they just become my second nature. Sure, at first they were a bit tight but they broke in pretty fast. That's what happens, they break in around your head, they are not a perfect fit out of the box.

      @@tatorios507 it’s incredibly weird. Like Corsair’s newest headset is over 400 grams. How is that even acceptable? Everyone knows less weight on your head is way more comfortable. The plantronics wireless headsets are very light and comfortable, but the sound isn’t quite up to par, so I’m in the same situation as you.

My pc is in the living room and unless the room is quiet which it never is I can't enjoy them. Going to sell them and try somthing else. Currently have the arctis pro wireless but really want to change find when there is alot going on sound wise it gets very muddy. Any suggestions.

    I'm pretty disappointed by mine. The bass is extremely weak in my opinion, I hear a lot of flutter regardless of what I do to EQ it. It rattles/bottoms out in heavy bass situations. My corsair headset... doesn't. It isn't as clear, but overall the bass presence really takes it down a few notches.

    • @TheDidos100
      @TheDidos100 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think if you are looking for a headset that can double as both and you are okay with open back headphones, this one (PC38X) would be a fantastic choice. Got mine on sale for $119 ($10 off for first time customer) and couldn't be happier. A good closed back headset that can double as both would be the Beyerdynamic MMX 150 (and amazing microphone too). I would caution though that it is not as comfortable and if you don't have small ears it could be very uncomfortable as your ears may touch the drivers (fine for me with small ears).
