Interesting: I'd never have thought of Detol. I'll give it a go (I have some Ratio coach sides I started to paint at school ... err ... forty years ago, and thought I might as well finish them. I was wondering what to use to strip the paint).
Hi Lovely stuff, I wonder if it is the plating that puts manufacturers off war time locos? Either way it's a great opportunity for some modelling as you've done! Cheers Olly
That is a strong possibility, but even with locomotives that don't require any modification are yet to see an outing in wartime black. However I couldn't imagine it being too difficult to have a cab plating as a separate etch or similar included with the detail pack.
Lovely job, it turned out really nice. I have used Dettol a few times but find the smell lingers. Simple Green is just as effective and doesn't harm plastic.
I might have to keep an eye out for that Simple Green, I have noticed the smell has lingered on the models I've stripped. Thankfully it's not a completely awful smell, but could definitely be better without it! Thanks for watching 🙂
Hey, I've never tried it but have heard about it. I'm just a little wary of brake fluid as I know it can be nasty stuff, but I've just settled on using Dettol as my stripper of choice! Thanks for watching!
Great techniques and presentation!
Excellent I wish I had the patience to do that well done
Interesting project. like your style, new sub 👍👍👍
I model therefore I am. Existential crisis over. Good video.

Have you heard of Biostrip 20 paint stripper ? 100% safe on plastic and really works well
Hey, I haven't heard of that, I'll have to have a little look into I think!
Great video! Very educational, thanks. Relatively new to modelling, where did you buy your smoke box door and darts from please?
Thank you Peter! These ones I got from precision paints, from the J.E. Detailing Parts range. www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/products/jedetail/jewestern
Was the Halford’s black spray the satin or the Matt?
I used the satin black.
@@SteamWithaScooby Thank you.
Do you think you can do a repaint of an a1/3 carrying garter blue famously from the a4 been trying to do this for sometime
Have you tried brake fluid to remove paint ?
