I have no problems with the screen - I have the Ryzen 7 4800H/GTX1660TI Model : 506IU with 144Hz screen, I only game, no pro video editing or anything & I think it's absolutely fine for the games I play, watching TH-cam etc.. 👍

Managed to put in 64GB RAM (63.4 usable), as suggested by Crucial. With the RTX 2060 model, there is also a 2nd PCI M.2 SSD slot (potentially RAID 0 setup?), plus a STAT 3 SSD bay. So, 3 places for SSDs.
Hey, I have a question for you if you don't mind. Since you've messed around inside the ASUS A15, how hard do you think it would be to swap out the GPU, RTX 2060 for a better one? Is it easily accessible? Or is it in a hard to reach spot? Also if it is even possible to swap out the GPU in a laptop? I've never worked on a laptop before.

Can you tell me where the webcam connects to the motherboard? I may have loosened the camera's cable when installing an hdd and ram, as it intermittently shows up as not being connected when I check the device manager. I have the model with RTX2060. *EDIT* The issue was resolved. Turned out there was nothing wrong with the webcam. When I plugged in a specific usb cable, it was somehow disabling the webcam. As soon as I removed it, the webcam operates normally.
@Just some Forest Ranger with Internet Access That's why I wanted to know where it was connected. However, it turned out not to be the case. I USB cable I was using was somehow disabling the built in webcam. It was just a coincidence that I started using the cable right after I had opened the laptop to install the ram and hdd. Once I stopped using that cable, the webcam started working normally.

@@Dorddis yes the battery does have different screw mounts but the plastic case itself has tabs that will hold it in place I hear different models have different connectors for the battery so make sure the 90watt battery you buy has the same connector

Mine was in the box - if you got the version with 90wh battery then you don't have hdd cage or space for a hdd, so it won't be included with your model.

yup, its the metal slot you see in the lower right, however i tried connecting one and i couldnt do it because the connection was very weird and curled up in there-
Yes, I put a 1TB laptop drive in there but had to leave out the hdd cage because the screws didn't line up, tried the other way around then the (included) cable was too short - the base panel has foam strips which hold my drive in fine - just ditch the HDD cage 😁

Yes you remove the plastic bezel from around the screen, watch a teardown video on the screen first - I did this with my Acer aspire R15 as it came with a crappy screen that wasn't even IPS - I bought an IPS one off of eBay with the same connector & it is great 👍

Top left corner of the HDD cage, just above it there is that white and black connector point. Lift up the black part, like a door. The supplied SATA cable slots in there, and should be prefolded to then travel down to the SATA drive
Yes. Your laptop should have come with the extra wiring extension to hook up an HHD or SSD of the same 2.5 size. My did. But I'd rather use the extra NVMe slot to expand storage capacity.

I have 1660TI/Ryzen 7 4800H, so far I have no probs with the cooling on this laptop, it's a gaming laptop & gaming laptops are usually loud when gaming or doing anything high powered, browsing or watching TH-cam for example it's very quiet - I fire up a game & it ramps up the fans, some games I limit the fps to 75 or whatever your comfortable with in the Nvidia settings, it's much quieter when playing, I just mess with the quality settings & fps limit until I'm happy with the noise, if I'm using my headset then I just crank it up 😁

it's possible, people have done it and I have seen at least 1 guy do it to a asus TUF FX505 laptop (basically last year's TUF A15), but honestly you don't need to, because the cpu is sharing a heatpipe with the GPU it gets cooling from both GPU and CPU fans, the gtx 1650 also doesn't really run hot since its already hard limited to 50W

I could, but i also ad problems with the hdd cage in this case i just put face up the hdd and bend the cable again at the end i could install the hdd.

Nope, straight fit in there - no need to add heatsinks or thermal pads, Asus designed the cooling to also cool the Nvme ssd's 👍

I have 1660TI/Ryzen 7 4800H, so far I have no probs with the cooling on this laptop, it's a gaming laptop & gaming laptops are usually loud when gaming or doing anything high powered, browsing or watching TH-cam for example it's very quiet - I fire up a game & it ramps up the fans, some games I limit the fps to 75 or whatever your comfortable with in the Nvidia settings, it's much quieter when playing, I just mess with the quality settings & fps limit until I'm happy with the noise, if I'm using my headset then I just crank it up 😁

Only if you remove the 1TB sata drive. Otherwise no room. Better to buy the correct model if available. Have the same problem, 90 whr version not sold in Philippines.

1. Yes there is, by the heatsink, over a processor screw, it's black with a red triangle on it.

I would use the smaller drives - mine fit (but I left out the hdd cage) but I'm not sure how thick it is 👍

it's possible, people have done it and I have seen at least 1 guy do it to a asus TUF FX505 laptop (basically last year's TUF A15), but honestly you don't need to, because the cpu is sharing a heatpipe with the GPU it gets cooling from both GPU and CPU fans, the gtx 1650 also doesn't really run hot since its already hard limited to 50W
@@TheUchihasparky The heatsink of the higher speced models, like the FA506IV etc. have a heatsink with an extra pipe. And it looks like it would fit in this lower speced model FA506II. Could you upgrade the cooling with the better heatsink model?
