SONG FACTS: During the writing of The Haunted North’s debut album ‘Monster’, singer Randy V woke up one night with Ruby Starr's 'Burnin' Whiskey' running through his head. Randy related, “It stayed with me for weeks until I finally decided it was supposed to be on the album”. Ruby Starr’s nephew, Johnny Cappelletty, was enlisted to record the drums and the song was off and running. Also appearing on the song are Black Label Society's bassist John 'JD' DeServio, and D'haitre custom guitar maker Andy Beech. Of Ruby, Randy states, “Her vision of seeing Johnny and I in a band together set my entire career path. Without her, the last three and a half decades look radically different. I doubt I would even be alive with the course I was on. I did my best to honor her memory and I have nothing but eternal love for her and her family.”
Randy V - lead vocal
Sean Francis - lead guitar
John ‘JD’ DeServio - bass guitar & background vocal
Johnny Cappelletty - drums
Andy Beech - rhythm guitar (audio only)

(song lyrics)
"Seems you’ve had it, with all of my games
Trouble and hard times, come with my name
Love with a loser, causes you pain
Take it away - take it away
Burnin’ whiskey
Oh how that whiskey burns
When my baby left
To whiskey I had to turn
No one can help me, now I’m alone
Nothin’ I can say, will bring you back home
Yes I’m the loser, you made me so blue
Hey, hey burnin’ whiskey, help see me through
Burnin’ whiskey
Oh how that whiskey burns
When my baby left
To whiskey I had to turn
There ain’t no need to deny
What I’m feeling inside
Turn up the music
Hand me the bottle
And I will forget you lied
Burnin’ whiskey
Oh how that whiskey burns
When my baby left
To whiskey I had to turn (X3)"

Ruby Starr was the Greatest Female Rock Singer EVER ... She makes me cry ---- Thank You for this FANTASTIC tribute ...
Let’s not get crazy,She did what she had to do to keep singing and supporting her family. She what?, 37 and a single mom. I’m sure she wouldn’t have put herself in that position ever on purpose. It’s all just sad and I think of it as t4agic accident.
Just stumbled on this. FANTASTIC & well done. Beautiful "tribute" to Ruby. I saw them many times in the 80's. Have many of her's & Grey Star's albums. She was a super, live performer. Never figured out why she didn't achieve more success but I know I was lucky enough to see her several times in Wisconsin. Rest in Peace, Connie❤
Great Tribute to Ruby Star. She put it all out every performance. RIP my beautiful Ruby. Thanks guys!
Ruby was awesome.I miss her.
Thank you so much! One hell of a Tribute to Ruby Starr. My mother would wake me up every Sunday to Ruby Starr, good times.
Went to she her more than once! She was Stunning and her voice is Beyond Stellar! That Lady SHOULD have Been a Major STAR !!! I Have Every Album she ever put out, 4 i believe..
My friend followed her into bathroom on a break and i was able to express to her how Phenomenal she really Is! Sweet Lady ! saw her in Omaha NE, in 1982 W/GreyStarr at a biker bar, AMAZING
Wow! made me cry a little for Connie!
Beautiful tribute to a beautiful little lady with the biggest voice. Thank you for keeping her memory alive. Very Nice!
This is on point!
I met her in San Diego when she toured with Blackfoot at the club My Rich Uncles- Have all her recordings! - 3 LP's, 3 CD's, and I taped that show, and have DVD of her in Vegas around 1994 - and just watched the live Love on Ice vid posted recently - I'm in heaven!
Can i buy a copy of that Vegas video ????
Great tribute!!
I did sound for Grey Star for a while in 1980. Ruby was AMAZING! I always thought that this song was a monster of a song, and I am glad that you made a great rendition of Burnin' Whiskey. Thank you.
Nice guys. Well done. Ruby was a monster. Rip
This tribute was a master piece! Heart felt!

Руби Старр отличная певица , она суперзвезда безусловно красавица!
My new favourite!
Love it and Thank You !!!
Parabéns vcs sao D+ssssssssssssss👍🏻✌🏻
Your aunt was absolutely gorgeous! I love her big and bushy red hairdo. My favorite song by her is “Under Your Spell” by the Ruby Starr Band. I used to live in Milwaukee, and I heard that song on the local rock station so many times. Great song!
I also like the TH-cam video for her song, “Love On Ice.” She looks so great in that video! She’s the lead singer for Black Oak Arkansas and Jim Dandy is nowhere in the video. Tommy Aldridge pounding on the skins!
Nice work! ❤ Ruby totally (and my best friend's brother in 3rd grade was David Mayo BASS GUITAR for Grey Ghost).
THANK YOU! - Rosie-Anne Quvus aka bonze blayk!
I see some vids of her behind you guys that is not on youtube - can you post it? Fans would love it!
Ruby Starr ....Why didn't this girl find the success she should have?
I haven’t seen that much footage of Ruby ,do those clips come from longer videos? Must see . Ruby was the greatest and to this day there is no one who comes close❤️
Hey yall !! I really dig your music!!
Oh yeah, for all that are interested, there's a guy named Rick Kline (type Rick Kline to find his content), who used to work for Ruby, who has posted a number of audio and videos of some of her stuff to the her memory alive. Check it out! Also, I have a board recording of Grey Star in Milwaukee that I still listen to. Great stuff, for sure!
Holy fuck balls.Ruby was a friend in real life.I can make this heavy metal and rock it for her.
