    This kicks major ass and I did not know BOA did a cover of this song. Best version ever.

    This was my first concert at only 13 years of age and I fell hard for live music after this and have been to hundreds of concerts since, nothing compares to this one there were frisbee's flying all around the thick pot-smoke filling the room full of top-less ladies and whiskey soaked party animals chasing them with their arms out. Gotta love Rock and Roll in the 70s !

    Black Oak was such a Monster back in the 70`s. Great sound and great strutting show by Jim Dandy. I used to Love watching Tommy Aldridge drum for them back in the day. Love this band Glenn Augustyn

    Band is Jimmy Henderson - Guitar Far Left, Greg Redding Guitar Center Left, Andy Tanas (later played with Krokus) Bass, Jack Holder - Lead Guitar Right, Joel Williams Drums. All but Henderson are hand picked Memphis players. The next version of BOA included Shawn Lane - Lead Guitar (Age 15) Jimmy Henderson - Lead Guitar, Kinley Wolfe - Bass, Chris Craig - Drums, Billy Batte - Keyboards. That version of BOA was more like Return to Forever than Black Oak Arkansas. They were off the scale awesome.

    I remember three of those DJs. They transmitted out of Little Rock from coast to coast and border to border. Beaker Street was cutting edge back then. Now it's a Christian station, imagine that!

    Wow what a gem. Never heard 3 guitar players so together. What tones too. And just tasty - no notes for notes sake.

    Thanks for posting! A great show from one of my all time favourite groups. To my money, the guitarslingers of this band are kinda unsung heroes, who never seem to get the credit they derserve. Nobody votes them as the greatest guitarists of all time. Which they damn sure are!

    BOA had always been a southern hard rock band But these new guys were practically Heavy Metal Which I understand was the direction Jim wanted to go

    • @JohnnysCoolStuff
      @JohnnysCoolStuff 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Southern Metal. Like Molly Hatchet and Blackfoot. And maybe Pantera, who was from Texas.

  • @chrishutt66yt

    & yes this when he shortened the name to BLACK OAK & dropped the Arkansas which made sense since these guys are from Memphis

    Towards the end of the double guitar solo they borrowed the melody from the theme song of the movie entitled "Exodus."

    While I am not a huge BOA fan (I don't hate them) I will say it seems like David Lee Roth was at least somewhat influenced by Jim Dandy.
