I think this is better than the studio version
indeed
"There was a war, but i must've won" This line breaks my heart so much. I mean, so alone, so desperate. There was a war, but i couldn't even realize anything, i'm alive, so i guess i won. I don't know how to put it into words in english, but this line really has some much meaning.
Also, as we all know, sky will not be blue until that person comes, or until we replace that person with something else. Even if we can, i'm not sure which shade of blue it'd be.
Also this song reminds me of Bowie's Space Oddity. Major Tom is alone up there in space, Steven is alone here, in planet earth. They are all hopeless.
I always thought of it as a kid who was too young to realize what had happened but now that I think of it I'm not sure that makes sense because how do you keep yourself alive if you are that young with no one to feed you
since this is a metaphorical song, at least to me, I think the war is like being alone in your own little world, trying to get over that (problems, someone leaving you...) and not being able to understand what is going on around you, losing the perception of time and everything. And people come from another planet, from another "little worlds", and he says "please take me with you" This is like asking for help from the first people you see, just wanting to get away from what's left of that war. A war with yourself, and with other people who don't understand you, and they are not around anymore because you've "won". You were abandoned, and you have waited for that person like a smart kid, like it was what you should've done. I'd like to make proper sentences but I am very sleepy and not a native speaker, so I hope I made myself clear. That is a summary of my interpretation of this song.
+A for Anyone and that's one thing that I love about music, it is open to interpretation, very interesting
Personally, the line that breaks me is "I will wait for you, what else can I do?" Damn, that's so true, waiting for a special person knowing it's the only thing left you can do for you've tried it all... and till the sky is blue you won't stop waiting... so sad and powerful to me.
This is so good , Wilson is one of the most original musicians of all time . I am so happy to be alive during his time . I listen to this song again and again . It´s so perfect,,
jm rch Amen
Amen brother
No, man..
Porcupine Tree
In my opinion is this a band with the same quality and standing as the great progressive Rock legends from the 70's.
Sadly Porcupine Tree it's history. I don't think that they plan a reuniting, but in the minds of the real fans the legend lives on forever.
You’re gonna have to eat crow. I’ve got tix to see them in Sept
@@MadMayorZag Yes i know, it is very amazing.
Steven Wilson read my post here and this was the reason for the unexpected reunion of PT. I swear✌️😃, this is for real so.😜😆
Simply...delicious.
God I love this band and hope they get together again
It makes me so sad to watch this and think I may never get to see them live... So fucking sad ;_;
shady4091 I still believe that our dream will be true :)
Giuseppe Di Francesco
I hope you're right my friend.
WingedStoneMartens It was denied... (and it was in 2016..) They will get back toghether, but not "soon" ...
Giuseppe Di Francesco Holy crap ! >< Who denied that ? Steven himself ?
A true masterpiece.
Such an awesome feeling to hear Gavin's drum fills on this song.
Oh my SW, the chorus on this version is SO BEAUTIFUL.
This song makes me cry

so many people want to see pt get back together. there was a magic about them as a band, they were one of the great ones. not just good. steven is very talented, i am not saying he isn't, but together, this band ranks up there with Pink Floyd and other legends. they just have that "thing" where you can see them always playing together and never running out of songs. i can understand sw's desire to explore other options and keep his creative fire fresh, but this band should get back together.
very well put but according to steven he couldn't write anymore new music for PT to play, which to me means they have all the more reason to get back together and write as a band or in pairs
Don't even need a new album personally, I can understand that he has no more to write for it, but another tour wouldn't go amiss. First band I saw live and I can barely remember it, would dearly love to see them again. Saw SW last month which was amazing though, got to hear him sing a few PT songs.
@@RXOBANSH33 It would be great on some future date, to have a PT tour, if SW feels to revisited older music perhaps.. but Gavin keeps very busy with Crimson and Pineapple Thief, if Crimson eventually stops touring, perhaps
It happened :) minus Colin unfortunately
Steven Wilson solo sucks.
This song crushes me.
Steven Wilson è di un altro pianeta ...
This takes my breath away literally
One of the great bands. Steven's achingly beautiful melodies sets them apart.
The rarity and quality of this is outstanding. A+. Would bang.
great song from a great album
Stranded here on planet earth
It's not much but it could be worse
Everything's free here, there's no crowds
Winter lasted five long years
No sun will come again I fear
Chemical harvest was sown
And I will wait for you
Until the sky is blue
And I will wait for you
What else can I do?
A spaceship from another star
They ask me where all the people are
What can I tell them?
I tell them I'm the only one
There was a war but I must have won
Please take me with you.
It’s insane how I cannot put into words what this song, specifically, makes me feel. And hearing a live version of it is incredible.. for a lack of better words - magical.
If we have in the our world someone special, great guitarist & singer.. that know to bring you in your dark place in your body , touch you on the most sensitive point in your heart , this is will be Steven Wilson.
stranded here with PT AND SW how fortunate we are
One of my favorite PT songs! Amazing performance
Well as we all know that is for PT fan’s!
There are BACK and I’m expecting some Magic too…
That was gold! Would like to have had that on the dvd
Wow!
And an achingly haunting melodic solo!
OMG They are Gods!!
Ayur Bhatta I keep finding your comments on diff Steven's lives. Great taste bud :)
I'm in heaven.
One would be hard pressed to find a more perfect album than Stupid Dream. Worth listening all the way through multiple times. But wait, so is Deadwing. But wait, so is In Absentia. But wait, so is Fear of a Blank Planet. You get the picture. I can't listen to all of the Pink Floyd albums. PTree is the better band, because their production values NEVER suck. I am amazed by these guys.
100% agree! Whatever SW touches turns into pure quality. All of his projects are worth listening.
I agree. Porcupine Tree is absolutely perfect, and what you said about Pink Floyd is true. I wish they'd have just stopped after The Wall because up until that point there isn't a single album of theirs I dislike. Sure, they had a few terrible songs ("Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict" and "Seamus"), but they weren't consistently bad until The Final Cut on.
I just realized both songs I consider terrible have animal sounds in them. Kinda makes you wonder why Animals turned out to be their best album, considering three of the five songs have animal sounds in them.
At 58yrs of age, I have been around a lot of music and and agree with your post. Ironically, I discovered PT around 2008 by complete accident after watching some Gavin Harrison youtube videos. It's by far my favorite band of all time and Steven Wilson's solo work is incredible as well.
I'm 67 and I just can't get enough of Porcupine Tree's music. I also discovered them around 2007-2008 while listening to Pandora. I ended up downloading a number of their songs for listening and ended up purchasing 16 Porcupine Tree CD's for my collection and there are a few more that I'd like to buy if I could find them for a reasonable price . They're worth every dollar! I've always been a huge fan of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Jethro Tull, ELP and a few of the other really spectacular bands from that era. At one time I considered Floyd, Zeppelin, Yes, Tull and several other bands worthy of being my favorite but it seems that Porcupine Tree has somewhat eclipsed those bands simply due to the sheer number of songs that are remarkably awesome and beautiful! I like to listen to music while surfing these h'yer internets and googles and it seems that every time I'm on my PC I end up with Porcupine Tree songs being played 90% or more of the time the past few years. I just can't get enough of their music. All of Steven Wilson's work really is truly incredible. One of my fondest wishes would be to see Porcupine Tree in concert.
Hey, thank you for taking the time to put this up. It's on my YT playlist for life now
God I miss this band.
Giving this song, and this performance of the song, a thumbs up seems so incredibly inadequate.
Heaven
love this song, love PT, They always touch the deepest string in my heart...
damn! they are so good. best! porcupine tree is the best.
Rishabh Singh Solanki I share the same feeling my friend
This is one of PT’s best songs. Great music, great lyrics and it’s haunting. 👍👍👍👍👍
first note = tears

Love will wait for you ~
Great way to see it!
This song is transcendental
Actually better than the studio version this PT classic!
except for the ending guitar solo that fades into the next song
Keep Calm And Listen To Porcupine Tree
Psychedelic trip!
THIS NEEDS TO BE ON ONE OF THE DVD'S!
omg what a stunning song! i hadn't yet heard it and i'm glad i did. how breathtaking! i love everything they do it seems....
Please tell them to play together on one last album !!!
i never seen them in concert !!! what a pity !!!
But i go to The Olympia to see Steven on 25 March !!! it will be a great day !!!
did you enjoy it?
Perfection.
PT's music is my ultimate favorite music. It goes straight to my heart and soul.
Fabulous performance, as is everything they do. I've seen them live 6 times, including this tour, and never saw them do this song. But I guess there's a lot I've never seen. Thanks for posting this.
To sum this up in one word: Majestic.
Love it ...
This is a gem
For the first time,i probably love the studio version more than the live one...it is like choosing between to similar GEMS...PTREE , we need you more than ever!
Fantastic capture! Thanks much for posting!
I never thought I will find this as a live performance...Thank you :)
Great posting. Thanks.
Nice work, mixing vid and audio :-)
Amazing sound!
Love this song and this band! Steven, please do the world a favor and get all these guys back together. Porcupine Tree should Live, Breathe & Grow. Musical Magic doesn't happen often but it did with PT. The fans not only want it, we need it.
So true
Such an amazing performance...
Thanks a lot!
grazie per averlo pubblicato!
amazing-great band
Stupendooooo
YES!
Greatest band I’ve ever heard!!
Proper fucking drumwork. Runs it like a one man ensemble.
Gracias. thanks
Thanks for posting this. Steven is so brilliant.
💐✨💜✨💐
Between the many many PT songs I absolutely love, this one is still my favority together with Don't hate me
the crying of the guitar makes me wheep. every time
PT after pink floyd one of the best bands with great music ever :>
I'm guessing that from the time you made this comment, that ranking has switched around.
he is genius
this song , all I need to know about the human race , especially politicians
Wall-E OST :)
There isn't one song by Porcupine Tree which is bad, it's mind blowing. And there's no other band on Earth like Porcupine Tree.
Great!! Thanks for sharing... Did you filmed the whole concert?
No, this is a video i found on the Internet, probably it was taken with a Photo Camera, and the audio was bad, so i replaced it with the audio from the Atalanta concert (i don't think it's the same concert but it is surely from the same tour)
Giuseppe Di Francesco Ok cool, thanks for the answer! ;)
Ahah thank you :)
2:59 ... this is totally fucked up. Richard Barbieri is the truly master!!!
As always, better live than on the recordings! (mostly cus this lineup was undoubtedly tighter, given the musicians and the age of the grp). I feel lucky to have gotten to know SW and PT. Music without them is bland and meaningless, imho.
I miss this Steven. What happened?
Wdym?
@@wiggy009 - It's been a year. I'm not sure. I was probably referring to his music from the past (like this song) compared to his current music. Back in the day, around 2000, I liked almost everything he did. It was gut-wrenching music. And the instrumental portions were magic. Now? I still think _some_ of his music is exceptional, but the exceptional music is the exception. It used to be the rule.
Three examples out of too many to mention:

Hal T he’s gone in a more accessible pop like direction. I like the more prog directions
If you will delete this, I will come for you
Makes me think of the Artificial Intelligence kid
not a single song of PT can make you feel bore!!
Steven Wilson is "the best" now)
Is this from the Atlanta show?
Only the Audio :)
Video from a different but very similar live
Great.
I love this version.
Thanks
"Winter lasted five long years"
Am I the only one who had to think of "A Song of Ice and Fire"? :-)
Craplatte It's about nuclear winter.
Il s'inspire des Beatles. Et des pink floyd.
