It is great, multi-purpose music, ambient and get things done or listen actively and follow along. Black Dahlia off the The Incident, written by Richard, is a favourite.

Yes, Gavin is just other-worldly. I've seen it reported elsewhere that he's TOP FIVE in the world. Just a piece of art watching him work that entire set. Every one of those drums is just a musical 'note' to that genius.
The best part about this recording will always be the camera cutting to Richard's reactions to Gavin's fills. I can't help but smile with him every time.
Steven Wilson = overthinks EVERYTHING. Just can't get into a vast majority of his stuff because it's ALL OVER THE PLACE. Unfortunate because he's a talented dude. Stop trying to be like Genesis/Dream Theater and perhaps create your own stuff. There's prog rock, then there's Steven Wilson who tries to incorporate every chord progression and instrument into every song. Just annoying.

They are all fantastic musicians but Gavin Harrison is definitely the glue that solidifies the music. He is the same with The Pineapple Thief.... absolutely stunning drummer.

I think he smiles because Harrison slightly fucks up, but recovers with a quick couple of taps on a cymbal. Even impeccable drummers can do it. And the drumming on this is incredible. Listen, I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like he loses the time with this fill. Everything else is phenomenal. Drummers! Help. I play guitar but I just know something doesn't sound right here.

I was lucky enough to have a friend who gave me this live DVD. I was hooked on PT after that. I also love the older stuff like Sky Moves Sideways. Steven is always doing something new with His 14 other bands, so I was glad to see that PT was touring again. Wow.

Porcupine Tree is one of those bands where almost every fan knows each band member's name for how important each and every one of them is. Everybody shines, everybody gets their chance.
The section from 13:00 is just sublime - been burnt into my brain ever since I heard it about a decade back. Truly iconic. The different vocals actually mimic the motion of waves slowly crashing into one another. So immersive and profound.
Agreed. Did you ever hear the live version of Heartattack in a Layby? I was watching the DVD concert and enjoying the sounds. Then that song came on. I had never heard it before. I stopped and just sat mesmerized by the incredible simplicity and depth.
The term music 'artist' is based on Porcupine Tree!! Keeping it together, no bum notes, dropping sticks etc, in a live performance can be difficult in a 3 - 4 minute song, but to play perfectly with no hiccups for 17 minutes, wow.
It is so fascinating watching them being totaly in the music. I love the bass player smiling all the time. This band is one of the best things ever happened in my life !!!
when you observe the song closely you realize that every single second of this song is well crafted, the filler part that starts from 5:11 till about 6:22 is soooo calming to me but then the metal part starts and it brings in some tension to the song, and in the chorus it releases all the tension and gives the song more energy, again the tension in the song strikes back, the same happens again and then that beautiful yet simple guitar solo fits in so well there. that solo is soo beautiful to hear and it merges into a synth piece, it feels soo fricking dreamy. and after all our favorite part, the surfer one, john wesley's voice is so much soothing over there in the back. I've spent many days listening this song on loop for hours and still am not bored of it. We can't call this a masterpiece because its more than that!!!!This is a seventeen minute single and feels like got over soooo early My english isnt that good btw so ignore if ive made any errors I found this band tooo late in 2021 but now I am happy to discover such precious songs by them. As a guitarist I am really really fascinated by theporcupinetree love from india!
Unfortunately I too found them in 2021. Where the hell had I been? Miss David's vocals- but this new guy is great. That drummer is in the pocket throughout n the song. Amazing job! With all tbat was going on around him. Just wow!!
The ending section is one of the most beautiful pieces of music. The correlation between the lyrical content and the vocals overlapping in waves is so powerful. And I’m not even much of a lyrics guy.

I saw the " Fear of a Blank Planet" tour in Philadelphia at the Electric Factory during Summer, 2008. Excellent concert! Anethsitize was Brilliant- a show highlight!

I thought it was just me who had tears in that moment. Richard Barbieri's solos are always very emotional. Though, Steven did crap invading his solo with a lead guitar totally unnecessary in this concert.

when you observe the song closely you realize that every single second of this song is well crafted, the filler part that starts from 5:11 till about 6:22 is soooo calming to me but then the metal part starts and it brings in some tension to the song, and in the chorus it releases all the tension and gives the song more energy, again the tension in the song strikes back, the same happens again and then that beautiful yet simple guitar solo fits in so well there.
that solo is soo beautiful to hear and it merges into a synth piece, it feels soo fricking dreamy. and after all our favorite part, the surfer one, john wesley's voice is so much soothing over there in the back. I've spent many days listening this song on loop for hours and still am not bored of it.
We can't call this a masterpiece because its more than that!!!!This is a seventeen minute single and feels like got over soooo early

I thought it was just me who had tears in that moment. Richard Barbieri's solos are always very emotional.
Though, Steven did crap invading his solo with a lead guitar totally unnecessary in this concert.
