Okay, fr tho when Ida and Luz shared that moment, that was very emotional. Also, I liked the whole rant of how you were talking about the whole streaming context thing.
I appreciate the Owl House for using "discrimination" to focus on aspects that don't exist in reality like people being bigoted towards spell classes and humans while the shows characters seems to fully accept people who are a part of real marginalized groups like race, gender, and sexuality, giving good examples I think is the best way to show kids that bigotry is wrong

Being disappointed when you wake up in America is just so relatable. No one likes America if they do, it's a robot. Wow this has a lot of likes just know this is a joke it's not serious one person made that mistake and implied that because I hate America I'm spoiled and was handed everything as a child when that's far from the truth

I'm sorry but I have got to say this because it's going to bother me if I don't. None of the shows you showed are qu33rbait (I have to type it like this because youtube deletes comments with the actual word qu33r in them) and neither is The Owl House. Qu33rbait is when it looks like they're going to set up a qu33r romance, or depict lgbt characters heavily in the story, but don't actually do so. They literally had qu33r characters in them. Did they get as much screentime as we wanted? No. They're on kids shows and had to be heavily censored. She-Ra: Noelle had been setting up a slowburn romance with Catra and Adora since season 1. The other wlw couple on the show couldn't explicitly say they were married until the final season. Noelle had to fight to get this much. It's not bait, it's a slowburn mixed with censorship. Adventure Time: If you watch Distant Lands, you know the reason that they weren't together together was because of the Network. It was stated by Olivia Olsen in 2014 that the reason that they weren't actually together was because of where Adventure Time aired. They were probably too cautious later on, but it's not bait. Steven Universe: There was a literal lesbian wedding. Not bait. The Owl House: Has Amity have a crush on Luz. Has the creator confirm that both girls are wlw. Says that she is fighting to get this storyline out there. Is literally a bisexual woman fighting against Disney censorship. IS ON SEASON ONE. You cannot call bait during the first five minutes of a show. This is why there's a bunch of people calling bait in the MCU fandom after a 30 second interaction between Sam and Bucky. Because no one actually understands what it is. The Owl House is not bait, it is a slowburn romance being set up for future seasons. I had to deal with another person calling the show bait today as well, and literally comparing Dana Torrence to JK Rowling. You know, comparing a bisexual woman fighting for rep in children's television, and a literal transphobe. Stop using the word when you don't know what it means. Go watch something with actual qu33rbait (The Magicians, Supernatural) and then get back to me.
I can’t wait for your season 2 video. Also, I would love a video on amphibia (but if you don’t feel it I understand, I just love both the show and your content).
You should review season two at some point! The series really feels more fleshed out and like the creators had more say in what happened! I'd love to hear your thoughts on it 💛
Yeah, I agree with ya. The only thing that irritates me about lgbt+ relationships in shows, is when people only want the relationship to happen because it's lgbt+. Regardless of characters, I see people (happy)freaking out because they are gay(etc) instead of two good characters you like and also wanted to see together. Not saying they can't be gay or what have you, but that shouldn't be the main selling point.
Well, LGBT+ people are constantly discriminated against and told that they shouldn’t even exist. So of course they’d be happy when characters are gay. They’ve been denied that kind of representation all their lives. They deserve to be excited about characters being gay. They deserve to be excited that future youths will grow up with characters that show them it’s OK to be LGBT+. They deserve to be happy that future youths won’t spend their entire childhoods hating themselves, or feeling alone like they did.
@@cartoonishidealism582 I disagree. Maybe the older people, but when twenty-five and younger are happy just because it's a gay(+) relationship, something is wrong there. They aren't happy for the characters, they're happy for the type of relationship. As if the type of the relationship matters more than if it actually makes sense for the characters to be together. That attitude irritates me. Two examples, Korra and Asami, Legend of Korra. And Cyrus and Jonah, Andi Mack. Korra and Asami had no build-up throughout the show, was just shoehorned in during the last season. Cyrus had an unhealthy obsession with Jonah. These two couples didn't make much sense. As I said, the characters can be whatever they're written as, but just being happy that they're together because it's a gay(+) relationship is wrong. It needs to make sense in the story, and the characters need to be compatible.
@@Aaron__Parker you have to keep in mind what was happening at the time these shows were released. I can't speak on Andi Mack (never seen it) but Korrasami was a HUGE breakthrough in lgbt representation in children's cartoons. The writers wanted to make it cannon earlier in the show but Nickelodeon heavily censored it. Eventually all the creators could get was a hand hold. After the finale aired, fans were ecstatic! This kind of thing was never shown, and the reaction from the fanbase showed that people *wanted* qu*er relationships. This allowed for shows like KIPO and She-Ra to show explicit gay relationships. I hope we can get to the point where a gay relationship is reacted to the same way as a straight one, but the reality is that we have barely any representation at all, so when we do get something, it's exciting!
@@wapaloosie9512 I don't think representation is an issue for the lgbt community. Many streaming sites have special categories specifically designated to the independent factions within said community. Even my cable provider has these sections. Representation today is not a problem. Maybe ten years ago I would have said you had a good argument there. Hell, maybe up to 2015-ish I would have said that's a fair point. But there has been and is more content coming out with this representation. LoK had issues in general with relationships, a bunch of useless drama. Cramming in any relationship during the last season, especially when done so poorly, is a slap in the face to all the fans of the show. That being said, I haven't read the Korra comics yet. My last point I suppose is, what is the inverse of being happy to see a gay(+) relationship because it's a gay(+) relationship? One of two things. Being happy at seeing a straight relationship, or being mad for seeing a straight relationship. Both are wrong feelings to have because it's the characters that should matter, not the type of relationship it is.
Thank you for this video I kinda forgot almost all of this show because I binge watched it yesterday when I was sick so the recap helped me remember because I really love this show.
"The LGBT community foster really strong fanbases." For real: include one gay kiss in the last episode and lgbt people will watch the series 3 times over, then force everyone they know to watch it. Companies, this is money you are just sitting on.
Two things: One, you must be using Bing or something if you having a hard time with Lumity Fan art Two, Did the definition for Queerbait change recently...asking for a friend.
Honestly though! Wizard school is one of my favourite fantasy story things, along with secret magician who can't tell anyone and secret alter egos. The owl house scratches a specific itch where it's wizard school yes but also it's so clear there's a world that exists outside of it. In potter it's there, sure, but EVERYTHING is tied to Hogwarts. Everyone has a Hogwarts house. Everyone been to hogwarts. It's all tied back to the school. Here, the school is just one part of it. There's also the covens, the Boiling isles themselves, all of the secret natural witchcraft, The Demons, it's all really cool.
Negative Legends: They set up Owl house to break down the Harry Potter fantasy. I'm pretty sure that the studios figured out that the LGBT Community foster like really strong base and those fanbase help keep shows alive. Just look at Supernatural. Magicians: Am I a joke to you?
My only problem with Harry Potter is you have to do a but load of research to find facts about real magic were as owl house has more facts about real magic and tells it out loud for all to know and I love this story as well ❤️💗♥️💖💗💛
This show is going to be remembered like Gargoyles, something of quality and originality that slipped past the Disney executive. The best character is Eda the Owl Lady herself, you have a older woman here taking the role of the mentor, while simultaniously having her own struggles and doubts, but always as a completly independent self confident person, and with the lame 'back in my wild days' trope that demands that all women no matter how rebelious when young must become quiet mild mannered types as they age. We have tons of content about liberated/ing young women but almost nothing that dose this for older women.
Season 1 didn't quite sell me on the show. Hopefully Season 2 will change that. Thankfully amphibia has been hitting it out of the park for me 2 seasons in a row. With the gravity falls team I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the owl house has a story that grabs me

@@ButterflyScarlet Yeah, that's for Luz, the main character. The glyphs are interesting. But for LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE at the time this video came out, it's JUST circles. And that's hella boring for so much potential in a magic world.
Amphibia and the Owl house are the best cartoons that air on TV right now.....
The title for the best cartoon on a streaming service is a different matter however....
For me it’s Young Justice that’s the best on a streaming service.
Carmen Sandiego for Netflix.
@@sakunaruful That was good but the ending frustrated me

...Okay, it's official. No one knows the difference between queerbait and censorship.
The owl house is oficially not qeerbaiting cos Luz and Amity are dabing and Amity actually said “im a good girlfriend” (to Luz). And its canon. Which is amazing
Just rewatched this video. I really wish you would make a video review on season 2 and maybe one on season 3🫶🏻
When I watched it, I just fell in love. It is just such a fun show. I will probably rewatch season 1 when season 2 does come out (and I will also probably do Lumity fanart lmao)
Eda, the Owl Lady, is my favorite Tenchi Muyo character!❤ Now where's her spaceship?!
little washu stole it.
Oh my god how did I not see it before!?
What about King's development? He got that right?......right? ಠωಠ
Rather than development it's more like we learned more about him like how he's good at teaching (I think) or how he gets stage fright like in the grom episode. Not necessarily character growth like you meant (Pretty sure that's what you meant, correct me if I'm wrong)
Yeah thanks. I was originally just making a joke but you bring up good points. ( ´◡‿ゝ◡`) gratsi.
*laughs in king’s development*
*starts talking about Harry Potter*
Mhm. Ah yes. Insert my favorite scene; The Choosey Hat
Finally, a youtuber I'm subscribed to talking about Owl House.
What, do I have to wait until the finale for it to get more widespread appeal?

BOY OH BOYI SURE HOPE YOU LIKED SEASON 2 EPISODE 5 THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS RUINS, MY GUY
WHY DO YOU LOOK SO CUTE THO THIS HOODIE OMG
Okay, fr tho when Ida and Luz shared that moment, that was very emotional.
Also, I liked the whole rant of how you were talking about the whole streaming context thing.
when your early but don't know what to comment
"I'm so unoriginal '
Omgg, both this show and Infinity Train are some of my favorite cartoons!
After I saw them kiss, I told my mom and she asked if I want a girlfriend
Dana definitely knows what she's doing and that's ✨breaking my heart✨ and than repairing it with Lumity!!
Me: (Realizes that TOH is still not on Disney+ in Canada for some reason)
Me 10 minutes later: “Yar har, pirating time”
I appreciate the Owl House for using "discrimination" to focus on aspects that don't exist in reality like people being bigoted towards spell classes and humans while the shows characters seems to fully accept people who are a part of real marginalized groups like race, gender, and sexuality, giving good examples I think is the best way to show kids that bigotry is wrong
This show is literally fire 🔥
Actually, it's funny that you said "You can jump into any episode and get what's going on" because I actually started watching the Owl House because of that. I was staying at my grandma's apartment one day with my siblings and she put on Disney channel. Episode 4 of The Owl House came on, I watched it and I loved it. After it ended, I immediately went to go watch the rest of it.
I sure hope you had already watched season 2 because OH MY GOSH I NEED SEASON 3 NOW-
Omg your animal onesie is great!!! Plz wear it again!!!!
Love the Owl House, can't wait for season two.
1:24 I actually started choking on my milk, that literally caught me so off guard i-
You choked on yourself?? 😂
If you want magic/wizard school books, check out The Tapestry series by Henry Neff. Starts out YA-ish but quickly outgrows that label and is predicated on a lot of Irish mythology
Being disappointed when you wake up in America is just so relatable. No one likes America if they do, it's a robot.
Wow this has a lot of likes just know this is a joke it's not serious one person made that mistake and implied that because I hate America I'm spoiled and was handed everything as a child when that's far from the truth
I replayed that part multiple times pfft
@@fruitygarlic3601 Its my dream 🤚😑
America atleast it's not the UK.
Then why do so many people wanna come here?
You could move to another country, but most a racist and require you tk show an ID to vote
I discovered TOH because I saw a clip of the grom episode and I was just like "WHAT IS THIS SHOW AND WHERE CAN I FIND IT."
Honestly my biggest problem with the world building is grom.
Why doesn't everyone just shoot grom with everything they have once he pops up?
Or hell just bring in afew coven gaurds since grom will have implications for the whole boiling isles.

“I-i’m nOt CrYing, YoUr CrYing”
I agree. I love him but it’s not q33rb@iting. It would be odd if Luz and Amity got together in season 1
PREACH
THIS, also straight couples get slowburns like that as well. Look at Avatar or something. It's pretty obvious that Amity has a crush on Luz.

How we feeling now that Amity and Luz are canonically dating? Also can we talk about Eda's nonbinary ex, Raine Whispers?
Yes
Genderfluid? I thought Raine was Non - Binary
Raine is nb. Not GF
"The LGBT community foster really strong fanbases." For real: include one gay kiss in the last episode and lgbt people will watch the series 3 times over, then force everyone they know to watch it. Companies, this is money you are just sitting on.
It got cancelled tho hmmmmmmm
I love your face, wtf how could someone be that beautiful !
love your content and your video also 🤭😂💜
I passed my lumiti obsession months (still love them ) ago, im with zeb and kallus from rebels now.

When I find out that a anime doesn’t have a season two I look for fanart🥲
I’m pretty sure I finished the series like 5 times without realizing it
Eda scream Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo with not only her character design, but everything else you have said.
Two things:
One, you must be using Bing or something if you having a hard time with Lumity Fan art
Two, Did the definition for Queerbait change recently...asking for a friend.
"and is clearly a plot hole" well well well well well look how that aged.
Hey, I like the animal onesie. Loved Owl House! Good review; I finished Owl House a few months ago and this reminds me how much I liked it!
I would love if you do this exact thing with the seson two.
Thank you for your reviews.
Negative Legends: They set up Owl house to break down the Harry Potter fantasy.
I'm pretty sure that the studios figured out that the LGBT Community foster like really strong base and those fanbase help keep shows alive. Just look at Supernatural.
Magicians: Am I a joke to you?
You should watch she-ra and the princesses of power!!
And the best part? Amity has the same voice actor as Tinkerbell! Yeah, just wanted to point that out if you guys aren’t aware of that first.
In the newest season Luz and Amity get together it is great!
9:55 Now this would be a great idea for a kid's show.
3:38 - 3:46 So... why is she wearing the Hexside uniform when she's not a student yet?
Oh btw.. I love your style. Like holy heck.. I love your clothing styleeeeeeee
" Just look at Supernatural. "

I seen it, I watched it, and Luz needs a moment of development like the rest of the cast, and lastly, YES!

luz is just the female Adrien, from miraculous ladybug. And you are lucky you can wath the owl house, becasue i cant see it, where i am from.
Season 1 didn't quite sell me on the show. Hopefully Season 2 will change that. Thankfully amphibia has been hitting it out of the park for me 2 seasons in a row. With the gravity falls team I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the owl house has a story that grabs me
HOOT HOOT. FINALLY...someone who knows how to recommend this master piece ✨👁️👄👁️✨
I love this show, if you haven't watched star vs the forces of evil or the tangled series yet you definitely should!
Star vs evil ended went down hill but I feel like it's still worth watching for Animation nerds
I really thought Luz was ace, I mean her outfit is even an upside down ace flag. Oh well, we need that bi representation as well!!!!
Now I know what Luz colour scheme reminded me off. I was questioning the whole time what looked familiar about her
Yeah I thought so too but i think she’s taking inspiration from the good witch azura!
You can be both??
I watched The Owl House from start to finish in two days bc I wanted to watch this video without spoilers and let me just say that my tumblr queue is exclusively The Owl House themed for months.
