I still havent seen season 8 cause it just didn’t feel right it felt like a whole another show and in season 7 the voices of the characters changed which seemed really weird
It was changed cuz it was new and made for a new younger audience. But what about the people who whatched the series before like that style lost its nostalgia.

Cameron It’s because her original name from the Italian version was Aisha before 4kidsTv adapted it for the U.S and changed it to Layla. So basically Nick changed it back to the first version, which I didn’t even know till recently
update: the live action so far (the trailer and teasers) SUCK. they DO NOT look like the original AT ALL, it lost its magic, the fashion IS HORRIBLE, the vibes r totally different, they got rid of techna in general, replaced flora w terra (that's white) and musa became white. like it's just SO DIFFERENT. and i think i'm not gonna watcg it when it comes out in january.

I'm a 17 year old boy. I used to watch this show with my little sister when I was between 4 and 10 years old. I liked it back then but now I'm pissed off because of the whitewashing they have done to the characters recently!
While I believe that the whitewashing wasn't done on purpose (it was probably a result of the new fairy couture art style, which was more washed out and pastel as a whole) I am quite disappointed at just how much paler Flora and Aisha are now in comparison to their original skin tones.
W3IRDGIRL N3XTDOOR they both have significantly lighter skin and I honestly think it’s possible to have a pastel-ish theme with their original colours too.
i liked the more stylized version of the animation, as i do with most artwork. the new style has softened their features to the point where, if you took away all the makeup, hair, and clothes, i probably couldn’t tell their faces apart. also, maybe it’s because i only watched seasons 1-2 (or 1-4? can’t remember) as a kid, but i don’t remember when the heck musa got a ponytail
As a former hardcore winx club fan, the moment where you told stella "You can fly *What* are you doing" made me burst into laughter because i had thought the same thing the first time i saw that episode.
That reminds me of the Pokémon episode where they be dehydrating in the desert with like 4 water Pokémon. Show characters don’t think. At all. I’m wheezing

Ya, these days I dont see Bloom, I see a little girls fantasy. It seems to me that someone wanted to make her marketable. They peeled away all of Bloom's personality quirks to the point that she feels more like a stand in. I haven't seen a character this bland since the last time I took a look at some bad isekai.
I'm from Italy and omg Winx was so huge here. I remember being devastated when season one ended because I thought it was never coming back again and watching every episode after that the second it aired. I also used to count down the days until the next issue of the magazine. I was sooo jealous of their cool outfits Haha. Both the comics and the show stopped being good years ago though

As a kid I used to watch the first seasons back when they aired on Nickelodeon, I remember years later being surpised that it was still going. They look like blow up dolls now... they've milked it sooo bad.
You can tell because Enchantix was depicted as the ultimate fairy form. Also, in season 4 they graduated from Alfea so that would be a perfect point to end the series. The first movie was a nice way to tie up the loose ends with her biological parents. I really am of team season-3-is-the-end-the-seasons-after-that-don't-exist lol. I see the seasons after season 3 as just extras, I also don't see the death of Nabu as canon. And Musa and Riven breaking up all that stuff. Way too much stuff going on, it's so unnessecary. And the later transformations only got more over the top and less unique. Sorry for the rambling 😇
Honestly the strangest part of the series is the fact there are five separate English dubs. It's not exactly the friendliest to new viewers, but oh well. At least the transformation songs are all fire.
I see a lot of people criticize the winx for the way they dressed in the early seasons but people are forgetting that this was a early 2000s show. Clothes that they wore were really common for that time.
Winx Club was low-key awesome. It reminds me of other underrated gems of the time like Totally Spies and W.I.T.C.H. These shows had enough stuff for anyone to watch regardless of whether you were a young boy or girl. To this day I know numerous men who have admitted to watching Winx Club. Hope sometime in the future you cover W.I.T.C.H. , Gargoyles, or Sherlock Holmes in the 23rd Century.
Although I really liked Winx, the guys in that series always seemed very dumb even for me as a kid so I didn't like it as much as something like W.I.T.C.H, which I feel like was better quality both narratively and visually. Gargoyles was cool if I remember well from the few episodes I cought on TV. And although I don't remember much from Sherlock Holmes in the 21st century, I do remember the name and im pretty sure I watched it.

It was so different from what i expected, I'm disappointed. They didn't have the friendliness among them like in the cartoon, bloom was acting selfish, stella was not stylish at all and they all look like they were past 28
Yeah but the thing is, i actually enjoy rewatching bits and pieces of season 1-3 and not only because of nostalgia... there really was some good stuff in there... and it became less and less from then on. I don't think i have just grown out of it... in season 1-3 it was like "this is our universe, now let's figure out what about it could be popular", and from season 4 on it became "this is our universe, let's switch it up and try new things so it becomes more popular"...
Winx season 1: Cool! Winx season 2: Cooler! Winx season 3: Amazing! The best season ever created! Winx season 4: Meh, but acceptabele. Winx season 5: Well kinda bad, but somewhat acceptable. I wanted to dress up as Bloom as her Harmonix transformation for Halloween one year. I wanted to make it and I got the fabric for the skirt, I ended up being a mermaid. I still wanna cosplay as one of them now
Winx was also one of those rare cartoons where even though it was targeted towards girl, I notice a lot of young boys enjoyed it too. Every guy in my family would sit & watch Winx Club, but completely avoid shows like Bratz, or Sailor moon.
True fact. Winx Club was ment for Kids AND Teenagers, however Nickelodeon got a hold of it and starting pointing it to kids and then later put it on Nick jr. Ugh💀
Season 1: Oh hey, this looks fun! Season 2: Layla and pixies exist and it actually gets pretty dark and keeps you on the edge of your seat! Season 3: More planets! And Enchantix is the best! Season 4: Wait, Believix...? Wasn't Enchantix supposed to be the final stage...? And what's that animation quality...? But hey, the music's still good and Roxie isn't a bad character, it's fine. MY opinion: Season 1-3: more adult, good "scary" enemies and nice plots. Season 4: Meh I don't know. Season 5-8: Bloom and her sidekicks show their beauty. Everything that happend in the past is forgotten and it's somehow not as emotional? as the earlier seasons were.
I don’t even consider anything after season 3 canon at this point lol. The girls have no really personalities anymore, the villains are an absolute joke, the transformations are just copy pasted in different colors on each girl (except bloomix, stupid name but looks really nice), and... they’re still in school..??? Aren’t they actual adults at this point?
Just like Sailor Moon is illogical, well so many magical girl shows are illogical. One second they're strong enough to blast a planet and the next they can't even dodge a minor blast. It's as if they go from being strong eagles to chickens getting mauled by Michael Jackson's ghost when they can't beat of any enemy. But hey? Who doesn't like magical girls. They're still pretty charming.

I adored Winx, as a matter of fact I still love to watch it from time to time but I refused to see anything after season 4, it went batshit crazy and lost its charm. And OMD, don't make me start on that HORRIBLE Netflix life action.
Season five was acceptable, however season 6 and 7 really lost it all… I just watch them cos wind is my comfort show and I need all what I can get of it (except for season 8 and world of wind. I refuse to acknowledge those.)

Winx club was literally my childhood as I remember I was so obsessed with it, woke up every Saturday morning to watch it on 4kids, and collected the dolls. Sad to see something that I loved so much to become such garbage as the seasons went on.

I fuckin HATE that they kinda skipped over that whole part in the series, as soon as Nickelodeon got control of it. I went through most of the seasons on Netflix, and suddenly they were like "hey, here's your family". I was so confused until I found out that you have to watch the WORST EVER animated movie to find out how she found her fam. Goddamn, Nickelodeon. Goddamn.
Ok but remember when everyone stayed up until midnight and it went like “We HaVe ClaSsEs TomOrRow!” Techna: “TEChNicAllY ITS TOdAy” I still think of that to this day... Ok it’s been 5 months but apparently the quote was “you mean today” or something like that and my life is a lie :D
they didn’t call back the art director and singer for season 8 and the show got moved to a preschool channel in italy smh. they got a new target audience the igino said they “had to do it” since it’s hard to get a 10 year old to watch cartoons nowadays

@@lalaland2107 my problem is that , when you watch the first 3 seasons , not the nick version, the rai version, you can see how the entire storylines are actually really dramatic and mature and storytelling, it had A LOT of potential

They didn't refer to which version those seasons were, but I'm assuming the NICK version since they were ranking those anyway. I started watching the first episode of the first season a few hours ago(4Kids dub) and it's pretty ok.
@@lalaland2107 yea 4kids and rai are the best ones, the general plot line from season 1-3 are really mature compared to seasons 4-8 , every character has a deep story that shapes their personality , their fears , joys and etc basically it feels a lot deeper than their current stuff, so I understand why their live action looks like a teen drama
OK, I know I'm late to the party, but here are some observations and fun facts from an Italian dude that grew up watching winx club: - Winx was a MASSIVE phenomenon here in Italy. - While the show was catered towards girls, in reality it was a 50/50 demographics. Yeah boys watched and liked it(at least the first seasons), even if some of them wouldn't admit it. - Top crops and jeans at the time were definetly "in" here in Italy, and 16 year olds girls definetly wore them. If you look at late middle school / high school pictures everyone was basically dressed like Bloom. - For me the only good seasons were the first 2. The third one was ok. Then it slowly started losing its charm. The inexpressive "bouncing" flash animations, plot lines getting recycled, the characters morphing more and more into barbies. Every season basically started adding new transformations that every time were supposed to be the "ultimate fairy form", when in reality it was just to sell more dolls. I think the last point reflects this so much in the recent Netflix adaptation. It became the basic dark fantasy tween drama centered around Instagram, and trashed everything that made the cartoon charming and actually good. Also another fun fact: RAI stands for "Radio Audizioni Italiane" (Italian Radio Auditions), not Rainbow, and they have dozens of tv channels filled with ads that no one under the age of 70 watches, and they actually force you to pay for them by putting the fee directly in the electricity bill, even if you don't have a tv or watch RAI.
Who else imagined themself having powers and acting like there are powers coming out of your hands? Then you had this group of girl friends, consisting of 7 (yes seven, with roxy) or maybe 6? Or maybe less? Edit: THEN PLACE BOTH OF YOUR FINGERS ON TOP OF YOUR HEAD DOING THE "WINX SIGN" AND SAY WINX (CHARMIX ENCHANTIX ETC)
I'm italian and I watched this show from the very beginning. I have to say that from season 4 it became too childish and the transformations were so boring like a runway show. The animation/character design got worse after season 4 too. I still enjoy watching the 1-4 seasons tho

i understand and agree but i think they mean they don’t look real in the sense that they’re pushing the harmful beauty standards. ppl don’t complain abt stylistic choices when they’re things like colors or shading or stuff like that because nobody expects people to look like that.
My favorite season is 3 with Enchantix, afterwards I kinda fell out of it. Even with Believix, which was still okay, I think the series lost its charm. I even had the Sticker Album completed and everything.
I remember when Winx was on and they started doing their transformations I would get up and jump on the couch and scream magic winx too waiting to transform LOL good ol' memories ;-)

During the time of the first season i was like "Texna (or however you spell it in English) has short hair, i want short hair too, mommy!" Literally the story she told me, i don't even remember it. To make thing worse after Flora became my favorite one i wanted to have long hair again, so i just let it grow i guess... Sigh... I thought that they were so cool being 16 and that i'm going to dye my hair blonde, make it wavy and have the best makeup ever because I wOuLD BE sO MaTUre. I'm 16 now and i cringe so hard, but oh well nostalgia is strong, so i can't exactly hate the show.
Looking back at this shows, you can see the writing is kinda awkward, the main protagonist have a special power and chosen for a prophecy and the worldbuilding is all over the place.
Also the writing got very awkward about what counts as “real parents”. I don’t think it was ever intended to be malicious, but it had a bad habit of making her adopted parents seem not as important or not as “real” as her biological parents. To their credit, at some point they seemed to realize what they were implying and went out of its way to fix that
I agree on some flaws, but you know... protaginists with spezial powers and chosen for a prophercy is like THE THING in young adult and kids franchices
It's actually almost like the guy making this video never saw a sixteen-year-old in the early 2000s. Not sure how it was in the US, but at least where I'm from skinny jeans and crop tops back then were what every teenage girl seemed to be wearing. xD
@@KalloSkull same here, crop tops were all the rage. The more belly visible the better. Try and get some nice cleavage in too. Skinny jeans with flares or just three quarter length pants as soon as the temp got over 15 degrees.
The live Action movie WOULD have been good if they never tried to connect it to winx. Just a completely different series. But in connection to winx club as a series? It isn't really good.
For the Character designs/ fashions were inspired by early 2000s fashions. Bloom main outfit was heavily inspired by Britney Spears, Flora was JLO and Stella was Cameron Diaz if I remember correctly. You were kinda right about the art style, It was heavily inspired by fashion illustrations in Italy. Which more in to the series they took it further with the style guides that they use for consumer products since season 6.
I think what made Winx Club SO good was that the characters were diverse. And they all looked amazing! Like the costumes the staffs and the transformations were cool.
As a little girl growing up in Italy, Aisha was the first black character I ever saw on a cartoon I loved and I’m so thankful for that. The beginning was amazing. I’ll always cherish it in my heart, no matter what happens to it now. ❤️ Also: RAI is the Italian national public broadcasting company, it’s not short for Rainbow. RAIyoyo is aimed to a really young demographic. I also own the GBA game and it was amazing! My favorite game as a kid. I also have a few dolls. And I had an album (or more than one) of stickers that I completed and it was super fun to collect them all.
*Even though I'm white, I'm glad that there's more people of color on tv shows Or other enthicities in shows then just caucasians. I'm glad That musa, and flora made a difference in the show. ( I'm pretty sure musa is suppose to be easy asian- correct me please if I'm wrong 🤔 ) anyways, yeah* ❤️🥳
The first 3 seasons were undoubtedly the best of the series, and the show was actually meant to end there. Then after a long hiatus they came back, and while season 4 was still pretty good, it just kept declining from there. Season 7 was especially bad, with poorly written villains, and saw the boys getting abused maliciously by the plot. They weren't even in WoW
I've watched season 1-3 more than one time, of course. An season 4 wasn't bad, it just felt kinda wrong. Season 5 I have watched with reluctance and it all was destroyed for me when they brought Daphne back to life. I couldn't stand the full first episode of season 6.
@@kritzl3036 I agree. Daphne was originally supposed to be Blooms real mother I think. Then they decided to make her the older sister. Now she looks younger than Bloom.
This was my favourite show when I was younger. I really liked it, in fact I liked it so much that my parents actually remembered the names of the characters.

I'm a 17 year old boy. I used to watch this show with my little sister when I was between 4 and 10 years old. I liked it back then but now I'm pissed off because of the whitewashing they have done to the characters recently!

While I believe that the whitewashing wasn't done on purpose (it was probably a result of the new fairy couture art style, which was more washed out and pastel as a whole) I am quite disappointed at just how much paler Flora and Aisha are now in comparison to their original skin tones.
W3IRDGIRL N3XTDOOR they both have significantly lighter skin and I honestly think it’s possible to have a pastel-ish theme with their original colours too.
i liked the more stylized version of the animation, as i do with most artwork. the new style has softened their features to the point where, if you took away all the makeup, hair, and clothes, i probably couldn’t tell their faces apart. also, maybe it’s because i only watched seasons 1-2 (or 1-4? can’t remember) as a kid, but i don’t remember when the heck musa got a ponytail
As a former hardcore winx club fan, the moment where you told stella "You can fly *What* are you doing" made me burst into laughter because i had thought the same thing the first time i saw that episode.

Huh, now I know why early Winx feels, looks and is written much better (despite some awkward animation, hehe early 2000s). As a kid I used to watch the first seasons back when they aired on Nickelodeon, I remember years later being surpised that it was still going. They look like blow up dolls now... they've milked it sooo bad.
You can tell because Enchantix was depicted as the ultimate fairy form. Also, in season 4 they graduated from Alfea so that would be a perfect point to end the series. The first movie was a nice way to tie up the loose ends with her biological parents. I really am of team season-3-is-the-end-the-seasons-after-that-don't-exist lol. I see the seasons after season 3 as just extras, I also don't see the death of Nabu as canon. And Musa and Riven breaking up all that stuff. Way too much stuff going on, it's so unnessecary. And the later transformations only got more over the top and less unique. Sorry for the rambling 😇
MLP was only supposed to be 3 seasons ss well. The same is said for them. The only difference is that the latest season actually was good.

Winx Club was low-key awesome. It reminds me of other underrated gems of the time like Totally Spies and W.I.T.C.H. These shows had enough stuff for anyone to watch regardless of whether you were a young boy or girl. To this day I know numerous men who have admitted to watching Winx Club.
Hope sometime in the future you cover W.I.T.C.H. , Gargoyles, or Sherlock Holmes in the 23rd Century.
Although I really liked Winx, the guys in that series always seemed very dumb even for me as a kid so I didn't like it as much as something like W.I.T.C.H, which I feel like was better quality both narratively and visually. Gargoyles was cool if I remember well from the few episodes I cought on TV. And although I don't remember much from Sherlock Holmes in the 21st century, I do remember the name and im pretty sure I watched it.

Yeah but the thing is, i actually enjoy rewatching bits and pieces of season 1-3 and not only because of nostalgia... there really was some good stuff in there... and it became less and less from then on. I don't think i have just grown out of it... in season 1-3 it was like "this is our universe, now let's figure out what about it could be popular", and from season 4 on it became "this is our universe, let's switch it up and try new things so it becomes more popular"...

They didn't refer to which version those seasons were, but I'm assuming the NICK version since they were ranking those anyway.

@@lalaland2107 yea 4kids and rai are the best ones, the general plot line from season 1-3 are really mature compared to seasons 4-8 , every character has a deep story that shapes their personality , their fears , joys and etc basically it feels a lot deeper than their current stuff, so I understand why their live action looks like a teen drama

OK, I know I'm late to the party, but here are some observations and fun facts from an Italian dude that grew up watching winx club:
- Winx was a MASSIVE phenomenon here in Italy.
- While the show was catered towards girls, in reality it was a 50/50 demographics. Yeah boys watched and liked it(at least the first seasons), even if some of them wouldn't admit it.
- Top crops and jeans at the time were definetly "in" here in Italy, and 16 year olds girls definetly wore them. If you look at late middle school / high school pictures everyone was basically dressed like Bloom.
- For me the only good seasons were the first 2. The third one was ok. Then it slowly started losing its charm. The inexpressive "bouncing" flash animations, plot lines getting recycled, the characters morphing more and more into barbies. Every season basically started adding new transformations that every time were supposed to be the "ultimate fairy form", when in reality it was just to sell more dolls.
I think the last point reflects this so much in the recent Netflix adaptation. It became the basic dark fantasy tween drama centered around Instagram, and trashed everything that made the cartoon charming and actually good.
Also another fun fact: RAI stands for "Radio Audizioni Italiane" (Italian Radio Auditions), not Rainbow, and they have dozens of tv channels filled with ads that no one under the age of 70 watches, and they actually force you to pay for them by putting the fee directly in the electricity bill, even if you don't have a tv or watch RAI.

I'm italian and I watched this show from the very beginning. I have to say that from season 4 it became too childish and the transformations were so boring like a runway show. The animation/character design got worse after season 4 too. I still enjoy watching the 1-4 seasons tho

My favorite season is 3 with Enchantix, afterwards I kinda fell out of it. Even with Believix, which was still okay, I think the series lost its charm.

I'm 16 now and i cringe so hard, but oh well nostalgia is strong, so i can't exactly hate the show.

I was a teenage female and I watched the hell out of it.
No actually at one point the percentage of children watching the show was 50% girls and 50% boys when it was on Nickelodeon.
Looking back at this shows, you can see the writing is kinda awkward, the main protagonist have a special power and chosen for a prophecy and the worldbuilding is all over the place.
tbh what bothers me the most is how Winx never contact authorities when some shit happens
Also the writing got very awkward about what counts as “real parents”. I don’t think it was ever intended to be malicious, but it had a bad habit of making her adopted parents seem not as important or not as “real” as her biological parents.
To their credit, at some point they seemed to realize what they were implying and went out of its way to fix that

For the Character designs/ fashions were inspired by early 2000s fashions. Bloom main outfit was heavily inspired by Britney Spears, Flora was JLO and Stella was Cameron Diaz if I remember correctly.
You were kinda right about the art style, It was heavily inspired by fashion illustrations in Italy. Which more in to the series they took it further with the style guides that they use for consumer products since season 6.

I think what made Winx Club SO good was that the characters were diverse. And they all looked amazing! Like the costumes the staffs and the transformations were cool.
As a little girl growing up in Italy, Aisha was the first black character I ever saw on a cartoon I loved and I’m so thankful for that. The beginning was amazing. I’ll always cherish it in my heart, no matter what happens to it now. ❤️
Also: RAI is the Italian national public broadcasting company, it’s not short for Rainbow. RAIyoyo is aimed to a really young demographic.

The first 3 seasons were undoubtedly the best of the series, and the show was actually meant to end there. Then after a long hiatus they came back, and while season 4 was still pretty good, it just kept declining from there. Season 7 was especially bad, with poorly written villains, and saw the boys getting abused maliciously by the plot. They weren't even in WoW
I've watched season 1-3 more than one time, of course. An season 4 wasn't bad, it just felt kinda wrong. Season 5 I have watched with reluctance and it all was destroyed for me when they brought Daphne back to life. I couldn't stand the full first episode of season 6.
And the redesign for the boys in season 8 was terrible
