- Alright, my little sweet potatoes - the day we’ve all been simultaneously dreading and dreaming of is finally here. Our favorite show has ended, and even though I’m heartbroken that we won’t have any more new Owl House episodes to look forward to, I’m so grateful for how much happiness this series has given all of us. The Owl House is really a show that makes you feel seen, no matter what kind of a weirdo you are. I never wanted this series to end, but this finale has way too much for us to talk about for me to not be excited! Today, I’m taking you through the ending of the final episode, Watching and Dreaming, to explain how Luz ultimately defeated Belos, and where the Hexside gang ended up after graduation. I'm surprised that no one noticed that the gem Lilith has on her chest is now black like Eda's symbolising her magic now being gone and it makes sense more with her new harpy form.
i think it was gone the whole time because as far as i remember the only magic we saw her use after splitting the curse with eda was the glyph magic

I don't think it's acknowledged enough that luz ended her journey the way she started it. the first ever form of magic she used were glyphs (aka titan magic, but she didnt know that yet), specifically the light glyph. the way that she defeated belos with a huge light glyph across the entire boiling isles warmed my heart to see how it all connects to her first accomplishment. her adventures really ended where they started.
Also Luz means light in Spanish. She literally is the light. It's all just so goooood.

something you missed is that during the scene in the hospital the guy getting his sigil removed (who is obviously the first successful attempt) is also the kid that we see all the way back in Covention, is the first person we ever see getting a sigil / is the first time we actually see a sigil on someone.

17:25 You might've seen it pointed out already, but Raine's palisman has always been hidden in plain sight... as their violin! The fox's head forms the "scroll" of the violin. Keeping it disguised as a simple instrument probably helped them keep it out of the Emperor's hands, and shattering the body of the violin seemed to keep the palisman intact.

It might be more of a Flapjack and Waffle situation where Raine lost their first Palisman, carved a fox onto their violin to commemorate it, and then asked Hunter to carve them a new fox Palisman when it became safe to have one.
Aside from the being a weirdo and being yourself and personal growth, it’s also about fatherhood. Luz’s father gave her the Azura books, which basically made her get closer to amity and be inspired by, King’s dad, the titan, watched over him even after death. Amity’s dad, she’s grown closer to him through the series, then both Willow and Gus missed their dads, and Darious is like a father figure to Hunter
Also Dell never blamed Eda for what happened and wanted only to reconcile with her. Now that you mention it, TOH has a bunch of good fathers and father figures in addition to the mothers. Really though, TOH is about family.

I remember seeing a comment saying it was weird the entire gang got flapjack tattoos. Comparing it to losing a pet. But flapjack was much more then just a pet, he sacrificed himself to save hunters life. And I feel like the entire group had somewhat of a connection to him. To me it makes alot of sense.
I agree. Luz was connected to Flapjack and Flapjack symbolized their friendship as he was what drew them together. The tattoos are a physical representation of that bond.
To a witch, Palismen are more than just a simple pet. They are their companion, their best friend, for life, and the bond they share is strong. Everyone could understand Hunter's pain at losing him, and they knew they'd be equally devastated if they lost their palisman. Therefore I can see them agreeing to get the Flapjack tattoo at Hunter's request, for not only is their bond with Hunter strong now, Flapjack was beloved by all of them too.

I love the fact that Hunter's got a Blue Jay for a new palisman because it can also represent the Blue Bird of Happiness, which can also tie into the fact that Hunter after going through so much in his life is finally happy by no one else's terms but his own
not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but luz's name translates to light and the light was the key to both saving everyone from the collector's magic and ultimately defeating belos. everything comes full circle in such a satisfying way, considering the light glyph was the first glyph she learned and ended up being the last glyph that put an end to belos.
Keep your eyes open in the scene where Belos and Rain return to the castle. There's a very depressing piece of graffiti scribbled on the walls by a former coven scout.

I noticed this the day the finale came out! at first I thought it was hunter, but he had already left the emperor's coven way before - but, im still curious as to who could've wrote the messages 🤷♀️
I wanted to point out, if you watch when king defends the collector from belos, his magic bubble has his own glyphs on them, you can see his light glyph on it. Its a nice short easter egg that youd miss if you dont watch carefully
I had to go back and compare it to his glyph at the end of the episode and against Luzs bubble

I love strong/tomboy and shy Willow! Tomboys are just a whole vibe in general, so Willow embracing that is sweet. It really makes me hope we get to see later in the timeline.
Finding out that Rebecca Rose got a cameo in the post-time-jump scene is absolutely the best thing I've heard today 😀
5:58 One of my biggest gripes with Toy Story is how they act like people have to give away their old stuff when they get older because that’s what most parents tell kids and kids succumb to peer pressure with that and end up giving away stuff they don’t want to.
i thought that the message was not that people have to give away their old stuff, but that MANY people have to give away their old stuff. i think college kids should have the discretion to notice whether they are being pressured unreasonably

I found the ending to the finale to be satisfying, It was such a treat to see the characters aged up and everything that they all accomplished in life I mean it's still sad that it ended but at least it went out on a high note!!!
it was, but also sad because owl house was forced to end sooner then the maker wanted it to because of disney, at least it was able to get a 3 part ending unlike OK KO got when it was forced to end sooner then the maker wanted
I looooved the shot of when we first see Amity! The way she holds her palisman staff downward, makes it look like she is holding a scythe, as if she has come to exact judgement on Luz in that nightmare. So chilling and awesome!
Not sure if this has been mentioned but something else with the ending, because of the Collector having them /they the very last line that Luz says "quick their almost gone" is also a nice subtle fourth wall break, as we the audience will be leaving also.
Also it's nice that Luz defeats Belos with the same lines we are introduced to with Luz.
Also the difference between the lines in beginning of the story and its ending she is not pretending to be Azura anymore Luz is Now her own witch and doesn't need to be anyone different.
I noticed too that several characters are wearing a little Titan head symbol on their outfit - Eda on her scarf, Rain on a ribbon on their jacket, and Darius on his belt - I must have missed some because I have just noticed this! there may be more lil Titan's heads on other characters' outfit!
One detail I haven't seen many people mention is in the emperor's castle, when Raine is running through the halls to stop Belos from possessing the Titan's heart, there's a new tapestry on the wall! It depicts wild witches burning down a town, the most prominent one looking either like a young Eda, or more likely Evelyn herself!
Fun fact: I actually cried like 50x harder when the friggen echo mouse showed up cause I was so worried about it

I thought King's Dad saying he was both king and queen was implying that Titans don't have specific gender organs which would mean that King could reproduce.

Both his dad and King said that line, they've only ever referred to Kings dad and never a mom, almost always referred to the Titans with he/hims (and I believe they/them too?), and the Collector said his dad kept them away from his egg. So I think it's highly likely the Titans as a species are mono-sex and have a more fluid understanding of gender. And possibly reproduce asexually like some lizards.

Even better it seems to be built on a Palistrom tree, which is the greatest poetic justice ever because that's the same spot Belos used to kill palismen and now it's giving birth to them. It's so cool to see the Isles healing away all of Belos' dark stain :)
If you look at Raine’s violin, the top of the handle is shaped like their Fox Palisman! So they most likely had their Palisman all this time, right under our noses!
My favorite thing about that final group shot is that even freaking Tibbles made it in, but Odalia didn't.
my thought is after the conformatorium was rebuilt (as just a prison this time) the evil three coven heads and Odealia were locked up. they all helped Bellos knowing about the mass murder he was planning (unlike the ones that helped without knowing that part)

My only wish for the epilogue is that they showed us how The Collector is doing. I felt he left rather abruptly (a hasty decision in an attempt to be mature, quite befitting of his childlike nature), but it would have been cool to see him officially adopted by the Clawthornes/Nocedas. I doubt he would have returned to the Archivists, considering his apparent resentment towards them, and he is terrified of being alone, so it would have made sense for him to stick around with the Weirdos for a while. There is also the fact that he was manipulated by and subjected to just as much abuse from Belos as the others; kid needs to heal from that in the company of those who can nurture and teach him. Of course, my personal headcanon is, as you said, that he visits the Isles frequently and builds stronger bonds with the group as they rebuild.

A tiny detail I like, as someone who loves to do my own nails, is the difference in Eda's nails from coffin (or square) shaped to a stiletto nail
Upon the mention of the collector’s star on the library, it occurred to me a possible theory. The Wailing star, could the wailing star be a star representing the collectors suffering while they were trapped in the in-between? Could it be one representing whatever happened to the archivists? Now I think that the wailing star needs a few more theories surrounding it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dell adopted Hunter like Eda did with King; as if to tease their theoretical familial ties one last time.
I'm happy when a series ends with a nice finale and is not dragged out for years after it's done nothing more than repeating older episodes and/or having just so many bad episodes at the end.
The first thing i noticed was the way amity was looking at the collector in one of the last scenes, it just reminded me of how she used to read to the kids at the library "for extra credit" SHES SO CUTE I LOVE HERHEFIHDGBJBCFCGDXVC
The show has meant so much to others and me, I’m glad it gave us a good look on how everyone is doing instead of just END. NO-MORE, and we might even get a spin-off!!! I love this show so much. Also, my first tattoo WILL be flapjack.
I really hope for a spin-off, but I doubt it because of Disney is dumb.

If I had a nickel for everytime a disney character got stuck in a different dimension, managed to get stuck back on earth before going back to the other dimension, got superpowers, died via disintegration, met a god, came back to life, and defeated a powerful ruler that everyone else thought was good; I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
This damned episode made me cry twice on my first watch, I love this show so much
One thing we probably ALL missed is in season 2, in raine’s violin you can see their palisman carved in! It was there the whole time, just hidden so the emperor didn’t turn him into a jelly fruit lol
Can we appreciate that Dana gave them open access to the demon realm and the human realm? I’m so glad the theory of Luz going to the demon realm permanently and leaving her mother forever did not come true at all

Okay okay, I had to watch the episode a few times, and slow the ending down just a bit, but I just wanted to point out, Luz didn't just have a convention pass, she had a little ribbon underneath it that said 'Artist Alley'! She tabled at that convention as an artist! It's such a small detail, but it shows that she didn't just keep up with her writing and magic, she also kept drawing! Which is just. Such a cute, small bit of story telling, but it speaks so much and man, I absolutely loved that.
I love the epilogue. It shows how not just everyone went on with their life, but also how the boiling isles itself recovered from Belos’ reign.
One thing you didn’t point out, is that Oralia doesn’t show up in the epilogue. Saying that she left the family for good.
It was your videos that got me to check out the Owl House in the first place. I don't think I've ever felt more seen by a show from the Owl beast helping me understand and describe my battles with bipolar to all the amazing queer representation especially seeing Raine during a pivotal time in my gender exploration to family being all the amazing weirdos you collect on your journey. I'm eternally grateful to both this show and you. Looking forward to watching all your future endeavors
Things to consider: 1. Camila is wearing earrings that are a combination of Eda's and Raine's. 2. Raine's instrument may have actually been her palisman in disguise, though I'm not sure what that means when you take into account the fact they smashed it in an attempt to stop Belos. 3. Both Luz and Vee have extra piercings. Luz has a triangular earring similar to Amity's and Vee has a nose ring and earring. But she's also lost her tail piercing.

My personal theory on King and his dad... I think that King and his dad might actually be intersex. Genderfluid possibly but King's eyes are the intersex flag. The yellow background with a ring of Purple. Don't know if it was intentional or not, that's my personal headcannon for the two characters.

2:00 I think King's dad is suggesting that he's biologically asexual. That is to say, that he reproduces all by himself, and therefore is 'both king and queen'. There's never even been a question of who King's bio-mother is, after all, even at the peak of his angst. On the plus side, this means that Titans aren't going to go extinct!
I interpreted it that way as well because it's what makes the most sense; If Titans can reproduce asexually, then that means that eventually, the Demon Realm will get their Titans back. King won't be the last one forever. That is pretty awesome and a great ending for him!

I want to acknowledge Tibbles for a sec, here. Last time we saw him, he was still out for the blood of Willow, Luz, Gus, King and Eda. The fact that he was there at the end celebrating with everyone means that at some point off screen, he made peace with them, became friends with them and let go of the past. Maybe when Luz was helping rebuild the isles, she helped him start a new business.
I loved all these hidden details in the finale it was so much fun to look through trying to find them all
My one disapointment is that Masha isn't shown as being in the exchange program.
Not yet but she probably will be once it opens up to more people; I think Luz and Vee are the ones to launch it initially since they kind of already did that, and that shortly after the epilogue is when the human realm becomes more widely aware of the demon realm via said exchange program being officially launched.

Not only did this finale end the series in in the most PERFECT way possible but according to hearsay; the more views the episode receives here on TH-cam, the more chances we might get for possible future Owl House content.
This content could come in the form of comics, graphic novels, lore books (like the Book of Spells from Star Vs. or Journal No.3 from Gravity Falls) or maybe even ANOTHER series. Yes, people HAVE pointed out that Dana and Crew have left Disney behind them after finishing the finale. BUT...there are TWO possible ways we could see another Owl House series.
No.1 The Owl House Crew could "go digital" and have the next series air on another platform. It worked for Animaniacs when their reboot aired on Hulu, even though it was originally a Fox Kids series.
No.2 Because the finale is currently climbing high with online views, Disney may realize that Owl House IS something worth investing in after all...just not for their TV networks. So, they could give Dana and Co. a chance to do more content on streaming.
As I said, these are just hopes and theories but one thing is clear; Owl House is STILL quite popular, even after its ending has come to pass

I LOVED this episode. The story, the collector’s character development, and everything else! Especially all the designs (king’s dad, belos’ dragon thingy, eda and king’s new designs (the ones they had in battle, idk what they’re called) and Lilith’s harpy mode!) and I would usually be upset if they pulled the whole “main character dies and then revives” but they actually did it well by using it not only to bring back Luz, but to add a really cool way to beat belos, a whole thing with king’s dad, and as a way to teach the collector what death means! My only sadness is 1: it’s the end, and 2: I wanted more string bean ;-; but I love the time skip and oh my god I could go on forever, I don’t wanna make this a pain to read (if anyone even does) so I’ll just end it here. Overall, I love this episode, and it’s 1000000% my favorite.
Is Amity's book a continuation of that book King had in Young Blood Old Souls

Since I haven't seen it, the patches on Hunter's apron are for Gus, Willow, Amity, and Luz. Luz's patch is the one that looks like 3 golden buttons; they're the balls of light she made with the light glyphs!

Did you know that when king gets all glowy and mad he jumps in front of the collected and a gold dome appears around them. On that dome are kings glyphs with the lights one in almost full view, but the others are covered up by belos’ laser beam

I had hoped that when the Collector returned that he possibly would bring a female or male Titan to the island so that King could go forward and have children with them and have a chance to have a family of their own. The Collector could find a hidden collection of Titans archived somewhere in the stars and planets just waiting for him/her to return to the island and make several baby Titans and ensure that the future of the island and the story will continue for eternity and beyond. With all of the characters living happily ever after and after that, but they could have to deal with the occasional problems caused by the former Coven heads that still miss Bellows and his way of running the island and being the king.
I actually think the titans reproduce asexually. Since King's "dad" referred to themselves as king and queen. So it's likely King can lay eggs and create his own little ones. Just might not be mature enough yet.
I find it interesting that Basha seems to have dyed her bangs the same colour as Amity's abomination hair. I think maybe she's still got some unresolved issues with missing Amity. She's also about the only character who doesn't really look happy in the flash forward when we see her grudgeby merch. I wonder if her sports career didn't take off?
It's also lovely to see all the Blight siblings now being individuals and rocking their own looks, rather than those imposed on them by Odalia.
I also find it very telling like Amity now only dyes a small part of her hair, which suggests to me she's grown more comfortable in herself, but the cotton candy hair is still a big part of her self identity too 😊.
I thought of it to be a reference to sakura from Naruto, expecially with the red hairbandana.
There are other references to animes as well, such as dragonball, full metal alchemist... :)
